Oliver Branson

Oliver Branson, 88, of Holton, passed away at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at the Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was born at Viper in Perry County, Kentucky on January 26, 1928, the son of Samp and Altis Turner Branson.

Survivors include one son, Roy Branson of Holton; one granddaughter, Jannie (Matthew) Jackson of Westport; one great grandson, Connor; two brothers, Jim (June) Branson of Versailles and Roger (Nancy) Branson of Connersville; five sisters, Eva (Dale) Combs of Franklin, Ohio, Evola (Bill) House of New Albany, Ada (Larry) McIntire of Scipio, Vada (Bob) Browne of New Washington, and Teresa (Daniel) Bowman of Queensville. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Kenneth Branson, and his sisters Jean Grigsby and Betty Brashear.

Mr. Branson was an Army veteran of WWII and the Korean War entering the service on January 12, 1946 and being discharged on June 26, 1947. He re-entered the Army on June 22, 1949 and was discharged o December 1, 1952. For his military service Cpl. Branson received the WWII Victory Medal and also the Army Occupation of Japan Medal. In civilian life Oliver had a variety of different jobs, but his main occupation was being a self-employed carpenter. In his earlier days he worked in the almond fields of California as well as the potato fields of Maine. He also had worked as a coal miner in Perry County, Kentucky, the power plant at Madison, and also the Glasstron Boat Company in Madison. Oliver gave of his time and talents to help construct the Educational Building for the Shelby Christian Church of which he was a member.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 1 at 11 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Bro. Dale Day and Bro. Tim Heim officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-7 p.m. Memorials may be given to the Shelby Cemetery in care of the funeral home.


Donald Eugene Ragle

Donald Eugene Ragle, age 79, of Lawrenceburg, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Dearborn County Hospital. Donald was born on December 26, 1936 to Robert and Edith Ragle. He graduated from high school and in 1995 he married Treva Raney, who he truly adored.

Donald worked at the Crane Naval Weapons Depot as a locomotive mechanic. In 2011 he moved to Lawrenceburg. He had a ball cap that said “I love Jesus” and was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Dillsboro. He loved to go to yard sales and had many pictures and figurines of eagles. He also loved his pets, especially his Baron and Shawn’s Tank.

Donald is preceded in death by his twin sons, Jeffery and Jerry Ragle and his second wife, Dorothy Jolliff Ragle. He is survived by his loving wife Treva (Raney) Ragle; three sons, Justin (Cynthia) Ragle of Sandborn, Paul (Dianna) Meyers of Sparta, Michigan and Shawn Meyers of Lawrenceburg; four daughters, Debbie (Rick) Zigler of Fillmore, Areva Ragle of Indianapolis, Rachel (Daniel) Lea of Lawrenceburg, and Dara (Dana) Swanson of Vevay; one sister, Ann Russell of Indianapolis; and 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The funeral service for Donald will be on Saturday, April 2, at 11 a.m. at Hope Baptist Church on US 50 in Dillsboro with his Pastor Tom Holt officiating. Burial will be in the Walnut Hills Cemetery in Oldon, IN. Friends may meet his family at Hope Baptist Church on Friday, April 1 from 5-8 p.m. Memorials may be made to the family. June Grills, 81, of North Vernon, passed away at 8 a.m. on Monday, March 28, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Apr. 2 at the Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Roger T. Cline

Roger T. Cline, 61, of Milan, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Margaret Mary Health in Batesville. Roger was born Tuesday, March 22, 1955 in Michigan, the son of Carl and Ada (Earls) Cline.

He worked at Deufol in Sunman as a forklift operator. Roger was a member of the Milan Sons of the American Legion and ABATE of Indiana. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, hanging out with his friends, playing euchre and watching his grandchildren playing their sporting games.

Roger is survived by daughter: Jennifer (Kevin) Morris of Indianapolis; Nichole Cline of Milan: significant other: Margaret Dilts of Milan and her sons: Michael and Justin Diltes; former wife Theresa Heppner of Milan; three grandchildren: Riley and Taryne Cline and Reece French; siblings: Diana Cline, Carl (Judy) Cline, Denny Callen, Steve (Kaye) Callen, Barbara Shelton, Brenda (Jim) Bowen.

Funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, April 2 at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Craven Cemetery south of Milan. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Milan American Legion.
