At Kentucky Speedway: Martin Truex, Jr., Kyle Busch, Christopher Bell get the job done

The NASCAR Monster Energy Cup main event held Saturday, July 8, resulted in Martin Truex, Jr. evolving to celebrity status in the winners circle. This was followed by Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts NASCAR victory, held at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Kentucky, in the #78 Furniture Row Toyota.

Martin Truex, Jr. celebrates his 2017 Quaker State 400 presented by Advance Auto Parts NASCAR victory at the Sparta Kentucky Speedway in the #78 Furniture Row Toyota.

Leading some 150-plus laps in the race, it all was suddenly reset to panic mode when with just two laps to go to the regularly scheduled finish, a caution forced Truex to regenerate as the dominant car, of which he did with the help of a push by Larson on the restart, with none other than Kyle Busch and the #18 setting on the inside of the front row next to Truex. Managing to make it to the commitment line before another caution for wrecks allowed Truex to claim the win under a yellow and checkered flag on lap 174.

Truex had swept all three stage points en route to the race victory. A very good day in the Martin Truex Jr. camp for certain.
