Molly" Schultz
Madeline E. "Molly" Schultz, age 72 of Batesville,
died Saturday, April 24, 2004 at her residence. Born June 23,
1931 in Napoleon she is the daughter
of Joseph and Margaret (Nee: Rimstidt) Youngman. She married Bertus Schultz on
October 3, 1956 in Evansville. He preceded her in death on May 5, 1975.
Molly and Bertus owned The Fair Store in Batesville for 25 years and after her
husband's death, opened the Village Forester Dress Shop for 15 years before retiring.
She is survived by four sisters Eileen Dickman of Batesville, Ruth Youngman of
Napoleon, Rose Kinker of Bright, Patricia Haessig of Milan and one brother, Henry
Youngman of Napoleon. In addition to her husband and parents, she is also preceded
in death by sisters Thelma Miefert, Mary Waters, Marcella Youngman, Betty Fry,
Joan Werner and brothers Cleo, Aloysius and Charles Youngman.
Visitation and funeral services are private. Burial will be in the Batesville
United Methodist Cemetery.
Memorials may go to the charity of donor's choice. Weigel Funeral Home, Batesville,

Mary H. Bischoff
Mary H. Bischoff, 83, of Batesville, died Monday, April 19, 2004 at her residence.
She was born December 22, 1920 in Cedar Grove the daughter of William Sauerland
and Bernadette Wewe Sauerland, both deceased. She married Robert Bischoff on
February 14, 1942 at the Garden of Angel Church in Cedar Grove and he preceded
her in death on February 27, 1999.
Survivors include eight sons, Robert Bischoff of Greensburg, Tom Bischoff of
Philadelphia, PA, Richard Bischoff of Milan, Larry Bischoff of Polaski, TN, Dave
Bischoff of Oldenburg, Albert Bischoff of Batesville, Gene Bischoff of Batesville,
Jim Bischoff of Batesville, one sister, Agnes Ertel of Cedar Grove, two brothers,
Sylvester Sauerland of Cincinnati, OH, Julian Sauerland of Cedar Grove, twenty-one
grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
one son, Gerald Bischoff, one sister, Dorothy Smith and one brother, Paul Sauerland.
Mrs. Bischoff worked in the sewing department at Batesville Casket Company for
23 years. She was a member of St. Louis Church.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, April 22 at St. Louis Church with
Rev. Christiaan Kappes officiating.
Burial will be in the church cemetery. Memorials may go to the Hospice of Margaret
Mary Hospital.

Nathea Tryon
Mamie Nathea Tryon, age 82, died Monday, April 19, 2004, in Escondido, CA.
Born September 30, 1921 in Versailles, Indiana, she resided in Oroville, CA for
forty-five years. She graduated from Osgood High School in 1939. She was a homemaker,
wife and mother. She was an active member of her church and the community. Nathea
was a lifetime member of the Oroville Monday Club; a Life-Master contract bridge
player; and a life member of the Versailles Chapter Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Wilbur "Shorty" Tryon
in 1996. She is survived by her sons and daughters-in-law, Donald & wife
Marion Tryon, Colville, WA; Paul & wife Rhonda Tryon, Escondido, CA; Ray
Tryon, Oroville, CA; grandchildren, Brandon Tryon & Garret Tryon of Escondido,
CA; Sarah Tryon of Oroville, CA; brother, Byron Ross, Amarillo, TX; numerous
nieces and nephews in Ripley County.
Funeral services will be held at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 2350 Foothill Blvd.,
Oroville on Saturday, April 24, at 4:30 p.m. Burial will follow at the Oroville
Memorial Park, Oroville, CA

Nevaeh Grayce Weales
Nevaeh Grayce Weales, newborn, of Vevay, died Friday, April 16, 2004 at the Dearborn
County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. She was born April 16, 2004 at the Dearborn
County Hospital the daughter of Jeffrey Dale and Sally Lianne Hightshoe Weales
and they survive.
Other survivors include her maternal grandparents, Jim and Martha Hightshoe of
Hudsonville, IL; paternal grandparents, Rick and Cheri Weales of Vevay; maternal
great grandparents, Charles and Esther Combee of Paris, TN; paternal great grandmother,
Lucille Weales of Vevay; paternal great grandparents, Bud and Jean Taflinger
of Jeffersonville and several other relatives.
She was preceded in death by great grandfather, Dale Weales.
Private services were held. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude's Research
in care of Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, Vevay.

Ruth Napier, 83, of Versailles, died Wednesday, April 21, 2004. Services are

Beulah D. Drake
Beulah D. Drake, 97, of Sublimity, Oregon, formerly of Aurora, died September
18, 2003 at Sublimity. She was born November 28, 1906 in Moores Hill the daughter
of Howard C. and Anna G. (Hehe) Draper. She married D. Carl Drake on November
28, 1924 and he preceded her in death on August 3, 1975.
Survivors include two daughters, Mary Lou Gillespie of Le High Acres, FL, Helen
LeBau of Worcester, MA, one son, Donald Drake of Salem, OR, one brother, Norbert
Draper of Aurora, twenty grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles L. Drake, two brothers, Orville
and Donovan Earl Draper and one sister, Hazel Muir.
She was a member of the 1st Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Lancaster,
CA, past president of the Christian Women's Fellowship and Senior Vice President
of WWI Auxiliary in Lancaster, CA. She was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church
of Salem, Oregon.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, April 21, 2 p.m. fast time at the
Forest Hill Cemetery, Moores Hill with Rev. Frank Forthman officiating. Memorials
may be made to Carnegie Hall or Forest Hill Cemetery through the funeral home.
Cynthia M. Hubbard
Cynthia M. Hubbard, 45, of Indianapolis, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at IU Medical
Center in Indianapolis. She was born November 5, 1958 in Greensburg the daughter
of Raymond Motz and Mary E. (Lee) Motz Davis, both deceased. She married Michael
Hubbard in Michigan City on April 5, 1992 and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Tim Carroll II of Greensburg, Matthew Carroll
of Indianapolis, one stepson, Nathan Hubbard of Dalton, GA, one daughter, Rachel
Carroll of Indianapolis, one stepdaughter, DeLana Hubbard Pevlor of Dalton, GA,
four sisters, Christine Innis of Greensburg, Mrs. (Mike) Peggy Bishop of Versailles,
Michelle Reisert of Brookville, Stacie Innis of Greensburg, six brothers, Steven
R. (Bonnie) Motz of Greensburg, Jerry L. (Dorothy) Motz of Greensburg, Dennis
J. Vanderbur of Columbus, Kenneth (Sandy) Vanderbur of Versailles, Mark Dwenger
of Vincennes, Chad Innis of Greensburg and six grandchildren. She was preceded
in death by one daughter, M. Danelle Carroll and one brother, Robert B. Dwenger.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, April 15, 12-2 p.m. at Bass & Gasper
Funeral Home in Westport.
Funeral services will follow visitation at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Rev.
Clarence Hubbard officiating. Burial will be in the Westport Cemetery.
Lisa Marie Smith
Lisa Marie Smith, 43, of Butlerville, died Monday, April 12, 2004 at St. Vincent
Hospital in North Vernon. She was born January 8, 1961 in Batesville the daughter
of Daniel W. and Marilyn Jansing Smith and they survive in Sunman.
Other survivors include two brothers and sisters-in-law and family, David and
Raynell Smith and son Danny Ray Smith of Sunman, Brian and Pam Smith and children,
Jacob and Joshua Smith and Heather Nick and Danielle Trennkamp of Sunman and
her grandmother, Daisy Smith of Batesville. She was preceded in death by her
grandfather, Daniel W. Smith, one uncle, Cletus Jansing and her grandparents,
Richard and Bertha Jansing.
Funeral mass was held Wednesday, April 14, 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church
with Rev. John Nestor officiating.
Burial was in the church cemetery. Memorials may go to the St. Nicholas School,
Sunman Rural Fire Department or the Sunman Area Life Squad.

Lois Parker
Lois Parker, 86, of Indianapolis, formerly of Versailles, passed away Tuesday,
April 13, 2004 at the Morristown Manor in Morristown. She was born at Elmira,
Illinois on August 19, 1917 the daughter of Charles and Marian Grieve Welch.
She was married to Robert Parker on August 2, 1941 and he preceded her in death
on March 15, 1988.
She was a 1935 graduate of Kewanee High School in Kewanee, IL and graduated from
Bradley University in Peoria, IL in 1939 with a bachelor's degree in business.
She was a homemaker and had worked as a secretary at the Southeastern Career
Center in Versailles from 1967 to 1983. She was a member of the Tyson United
Methodist Church, Versailles and was a life member of the Versailles American
Legion Auxiliary.
Survivors include three sons, Richard Parker and wife Linda of Morristown, Jack
Parker and wife Theresa of Versailles, William Parker of Indianapolis; three
daughters, Ellen Bloomer and husband Morris of New Palestine, Mary Key and husband
Ronald of Springfield, OH, Peggy Steckbeck and husband Tom of Indianapolis; eleven
grandchildren and one sister, Charlotte Wilkinson of Wyoming, IL.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 16 from 4-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home, Versailles with Legion Auxiliary services at 7:30 p.m. Funeral
services will be held Saturday, April 17 at 11 a.m. at the Tyson United Methodist
Church with Rev. Mike Hendrix officiating. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery,
Versailles.
Memorials may be given to Robert and Lois Parker Scholarship Fund in care of
the funeral home.
Magalene Richards Inman
Magalene Richards Inman, of Holly Hill, SC, died Sunday, April 14, 2004 at her
residence. She was born June 12, 1927 in Coalfield, TN the daughter of Leslie
and Lillie M. Richards, both deceased. She married Leon Roscoe Inman and he
preceded her in death.
Survivors include four daughters, Gail Severe of Brownsburg, Dian Ohl of Saxonburg,
PA, Dixie Inman of Holly Hill, SC, Kristen Inman of Lexington, SC; three sisters,
Juanita Belew of Versailles, Rosemary Stevens of Nicholasville, KY, Ruth Elkins
of Leesburg, FL; one brother, Earl M. Richards of Greenwood; three grandchildren
and three great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, Carl, Clyde, Frank Richards and
one sister, Nina Ann.
Funeral services were held April 7 at the Avinger Funeral Home Chapel at Holly
Hill with burial in the Inman Cemetery at Ash, NC with Pastor Earl Brooks officiating.
Mary Louise Smith
Mary Louise Smith, 82, of Millhousen, died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at her residence.
She was born May 13, 1921 in Greenwood Co., South Carolina the daughter of
Noah and Luna (Tucker) Spurlock, both deceased. She married Alvin Smith on
November 26, 1939 and he preceded her in death on May 21, 1998.
Survivors include one son, Larry A. (Becky) Smith of Millhousen, four daughters,
Mary Frances (Carl) Redelman of Greensburg, Virginia Striecker of Greensburg,
Alvina Ogle of Greensburg, Bonnie (Mark) Rody of Hope, twenty-one grandchildren,
twenty-nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson. She was preceded
in death by one infant brother and one sister, Ira Mae McNutt.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and also had worked at the Nutone Corp. in Cincinnati,
Ohio. She was a member of the Union Flat Rock Baptist Church and was a former
member of the Ladies Wednesday Afternoon Bowling League.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, April 15, 4-8 p.m. at Porter-Oliger-Pearson
Funeral Home in Greensburg.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 16, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with
Rev. Joseph Smith officiating.
Burial will be in the Union Flat Rock Cemetery south of Millhousen. Memorials
may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.

Mary Olive Williams
Mary Olive Williams, 87, of New Point, died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at Treyburn
Rehab and Nursing Home in Durham, NC. She was born April 22, 1916 in New Point
the daughter of Virgil and Selma (Starks) Minning, both deceased. She married
Charles G. Williams on September 28, 1936 in Indianapolis and he survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Shirley (Bobby) Maines of Durham, NC; one
son, Gordon (Carol) Williams of London, OH; one sister, June Eineman of Indianapolis,
one brother, Donald R. Minning of New Point; 11 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren,
three great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Charles V. Williams, two brothers, Ralph "Bud" Minning,
John Louis Minning, and one great granddaughter.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker and a member of the New Point Christian Church,
the Loveland Ohio Order Eastern Star.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 9 from 5-8 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home,
Batesville.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 10 at 10:30 a.m. with calling from
10-10:30 at the New Point Christian Church with Pastor Mark Vice officiating.
Burial will follow in the Rossburg Cemetery, New Point.
Memorials may be made to the New Point Christian Church Building Fund.
Betty Louise Taylor
Betty Louise Taylor, 67, of Dillsboro, died Sunday, April 4, 2004 at her residence.
She was born May 23, 1936 in Lawrenceburg, the daughter of John McAdams and
Bessie Fryman, both deceased. She married Robert C. Taylor and he survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Rosemary Louden of Canaan, Angela C. Slusher
of Aurora; two sons, Robert E. Taylor of Coldwater, MI, John C. Taylor of Patriot;
one brother, John McAdams of Moores Hill; one sister, Phyllis Miller of Bogaluss,
LA; ten grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
Mrs. Taylor was a homemaker and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Disabled American
Veterans, Aurora.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 7 at 11 a.m. at Ulrich Filter Funeral
Home, Dillsboro. Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro.
Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Southeastern Indiana.
Woodrow "Woody" Wilson
Woodrow "Woody" Wilson, 64, of Anthony, FL died Sunday, April 4,
2004 at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, FL. He was born in Booneville, KY the
son
of Daniel Edward Wilson and Laura Fields Wilson.
Survivors include his wife Ethel of Anthony, FL; one son, Daniel Wilson of Ocala;
two daughters, Deborah VanWagner of Sparr, Judy Overfelt of Ocala; two brothers,
Edward Wilson of Morriston, FL, Clifford Wilson of North Vernon; six sisters,
Gracey Willoughby of Palms, CA, Gladys Riehle of W. Harrison, Ruby Chatham of
San Bernadino, CA, Janet House of Hayden, Barbara Kay Sommers of Madison, Frieda
Hilliard of Phoenix, AZ; eight grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Wilson was an Army veteran and was of the Baptist faith. He was the owner
of Woody's Truck Sales.
Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, April 8 at 2 p.m. at the Hiers
Funeral Home, Ocala with Rev. Ray Woodward and Rev. William Hensley officiating.
Mildred K. Schene
Mildred K. Schene, 82, of Batesville, died Monday, April 6, 2004 at the Margaret
Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born November 30, 1921 in Batesville
the daughter of Albert Goldsmith and Emma Lampe Goldsmith, both deceased. She
married Alvin Schene on May 25, 1943 at the St. Louis Church in Batesville
and he preceded her in death on June 25, 1978.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen Cox of New Palenstine, Barbara Hendrix
of Batesville, Bernadette Nunlist of Oldenburg; seven sons, Alvin Schene, Anthony
Schene and Christopher Schene all of Indianapolis, Michael Schene, Gregory Schene
both of Batesville; Frederick Schene, Albert Schene both of Oldenburg; two sisters,
Rita Maple of Batesville, Lorraine Foster of Napoleon; one brother, Paul Goldsmith,
Sr. of Batesville, 26 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Dorothy Oswald, Katherine Fichtner,
five brothers, Earl, Clifford, Ralph, Albert and Robert "Goldie" Goldsmith.
Mrs. Schene was a homemaker, a member of the St. Louis Church, St. Louis Ladies
Society and the Ripley County VFW ladies auxiliary.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 6 at 10 a.m. at the St. Louis Church,
Batesville with Rev. Daniel Mahan officiating. Burial was in the St. Louis Cemetery,
Batesville.
Memorials may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis Retirement Fund or to the
Kelly Munchel Scholarship Fund.

Doloris Ann (Oser) Robinson, of Milan, died Saturday, April 3, 2004. She was
born the daughter of Lena and Charles Oser, both deceased.
Survivors include her husband, Peter C. Robinson, many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law,
Sara Schneider, Jacque Schneider; brother-in-law, Don Robinson.

Christopher (Gerald) "Chris" Topa
Christopher (Gerald) "Chris" Topa, 34, of Virginia Beach, VA, formerly
of Michigan City, died Saturday, March 27, 2004 at his residence. He was born
April 10, 1969 in Michigan City the son of Ronald Thomas Joseph Topa and Antoinette
(Griswold) Kniola.
Survivors include his mother and stepfather, Antoinette "Toni" "Sweetie" Griswold
Kniola and John Kniola of Vevay, his father and stepmother, Ronald Thomas Joseph
and June Topa of Virginia Beach, VA, one daughter, Heather Nicole Topa of Vevay,
one son, Cody Christopher-John Topa of Virginia Beach, VA; two stepbrothers,
Michael Yadavia and Christian Yadavia both of Michigan City, maternal grandmother,
Evelyn Griswold of Michigan City, uncles and aunts, Joe Topa of Michigan City,
Matthew and Erica Griswold of Madison, Nicholas and Toni Griswold of LaPorte,
Jerry and Mary Beth Woldford of Chesteron, Charles Harper of Michigan City, a
close friend who cared for him, several nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, John C. Griswold and paternal
grandparents, Joseph and Rose Topa.
Mr. Topa was a member of the Sorrowful Mother of God Catholic Church in Vevay
and had formerly resided in Vevay. He was currently working as an auto detailer
in Virginia Beach.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 2, 4-5:45 p.m. at Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home in Vevay.
Funeral services will follow visitation at 6 p.m. at the Sorrowful Mother of
God Catholic Church in Vevay with Rev. John A. Meyer officiating.
Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City. Memorials may go to
the Topa Children's Memorial Fund c/o the funeral home.
John K. Edwards
John K. Edwards, 63, of Versailles, died Wednesday, March 31, 2004 at the Dearborn
County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born March 19, 1941 in Middletown, OH
the son of Leonard Edwards and Martha (Kincaid) Edwards, both deceased. He
married Diana (Smith) Edwards on January 21, 1997 and she survives.
Other survivors include stepdaughter, Kimberly Rutter of Beaver Dam, NY, stepson,
Kevin Rutherford of Versailles, two sisters, Sharon Jones of Versailles, Carol
Sue Gilbert of Arkansas, five step grandsons, three step granddaughters and several
nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Chaney, three brothers, William,
Larry and James Edwards and one nephew, Jerry Gilbert.
Mr. Edwards was a laborer for General Motors and was an attendant at the Muscatatuck
State Developmental Center. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge #671 Melrose
Norwood, OH and served in the Army from 1958-1960.
Visitation will be held Friday, April 2, 5-8 p.m. and after noon on Saturday,
April 3 at Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home, Versailles. Masonic Lodge #7 will
conduct Masonic services Friday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be
held Saturday, April 3 at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Garland Rudd officiating.
Burial will be in the Bussee Cemetery near Sunman with military graveside funeral
services conducted by the Versailles American Legion Post 171.
Memorials may be made to the Edwards family.
Alton F. Brinson
Alton F. Brinson, 90, of Vero Beach, Florida, died Monday, March 22, 2004 at
Tandem Health Care of Vero Beach. He was born July 1, 1913 in Gaff and had
been a resident of Vero Beach for the past 46 years moving from Versailles.
He was a retired truck driver and also a member of the Forest Park Baptist Church
in Vero Beach.
Surviving are three sons, Gerald Brinson of Vero Beach, FL, Melvin Brinson of
Arizona, Robert Brinson of Vero Beach, FL, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Theta Marie Kirk Brinson, second
wife, Alta Demaree Brinson, brother, Vernon Brinson and sister, Mayme P. Spencer.
There will be no services. Arrangements are under the direction of Cox-Gifford
Funeral Home, Vero Beach, FL.
