South
Ripley and Milan's cross country
teams competed in a four-way meet
at Baylor Park on Thursday evening
with Southwestern and Switzerland
County running against the Indians
and Raiders.
In the girls' portion
of the meet Southwestern was the
team champ with 20 points followed
by Switzerland County with 43 and
South Ripley with 80. Milan didn't
have a full team competing.
SC's Amanda Hon was
the individual winner with a time
of 15:18, followed by seven Southwestern
runners. Milan's Danielle Clemens
finished ninth in a time of 18:20.
SR's first runner to finish was Amber
Thompson placing 20th
(14th) in a time of 22:47.
Sarah Mills was Milan's
second runner to finish taking 14th
place with a time of 20:06 followed
by Megan Lade (15th 20:07) and Kim
Batta (22nd 23:43).
South Ripley's girls
finished 20th, 21st and 23rd-25th
but due to Milan not having a full
team and their runners not getting
a score the Lady Raiders were awarded
14th-18th places. Bernadette Gorman
was SR's number two runner in the
meet placing 21st (15th) in a time
of 23:06. Following Gorman was Molly
Walls (16th 24:47), Amy Hobbs (24th
25:04) and Sarah McCrory (18th 31:19).
In the boys' portion
of the meet Southwestern took the
team crown with 40 points followed
by Switz. Co. with 47, Milan with
52 and
South Ripley with 76.
Milan's Brandon Welti
continued his winning streak taking
first place with an outstanding time
of 15:54. The Indians' Adam Baylor
and Nathan Hampton took third and
fourth. Baylor ran a 17:18 and Hampton
ran a 17:27. South Ripley's leading
runner was Erik Demaree placing 12th
in a time of 18:25.
Following Hampton for
the Indians was Josh Yatsko placing
20th in 19:56, Mark Horstman (21st
19:59), Daniel Fleming (24th 20:25)
and Matt Lewis (27th 24:48).
Ariel Lawburgh was
South Ripley's second runner placing
13th in a time of 18:55. Following
Lawburgh was Michael Mathews (16th
19:13), Ryan Kohlmeier (17th 19:28),
B.J. Sieverding (18th 19:35) and
Nick Grider (22nd 20:04).
