Eagles sweep ORVC Cross Country meet winning both boys and girls at Baylor Park

Jac-Cen-Del's Junior High Cross Country teams took a clean sweep of the annual ORVC Invitational Cross Country meet held on Monday night at Milan's Baylor Park winning both the boys and the girls' portions of the meet.

In the boys' portion of the meet the Eagles won with a score of 48 followed by Switzerland County with 54, South
Ripley with 64, Rising Sun with 71, Shawe with 91 and Southwestern with 172. Milan didn't have a full team competing. Any individual who finished in the top twelve were named to the All-Conference team.

JCD's Blake Sutton was the individual winner running the 1.8 mile course in a time of 10:34. Milan's Cody Marsee finished third in a time of 10:47. South Ripley's first runner to cross the finish line was Andrew Miller placing 8th in a
time of 11:11.

Joining Sutton on the All-Conference are teammates Derek Lunsford placing 4th in 10:49 and Ethan Wagner placing 10th in 11:15. Following Wagner was Zach Schuler (15th 11:35), Brandon Wilhoit (20th 11:51) and Devin Shadday (28th 12:25).

Milan's only other runner was Codey Martin placing 42nd in a time of 17:28.

Jared Keck and Devon Swinney were the other two Raiders to be named to the
All-Conference team with Keck placing 9th in a time of 11:11 and Swinney placing 12th running a time of 11:21. Following Swinney for the Raiders was Zayne Grossman (17th 11:44), Seth Leonard (21st 11:52), Dylan Groves (33rd 12:33) and Thomas Welch (34th 12:40).

In the girls' portion of the meet the Lady Eagles won with a team score of 53 followed by Rising Sun with 56, Switzerland County with 76, South Ripley with 97, Southwestern with 114, Shawe with 142 and Milan with 143.

Jac-Cen-Del's Sam White took second place individually with a time of 12:04. South Ripley's Melanie Berry finished 4th running a time of 12:33. Milan's first runner to finish was Kaleigh Gardener taking 22nd place with a time of 13:48.

Joining White on the All-Conference from JCD was Jaime Lunsford placing 6th in a time of 12:53 and Brooke Gilland placing 11th in 13:17. Behind Gilland was Alyassa Herbert (16th 13:27), Allana Newhart (18th 13:35), Valorie Wagner (23rd 13:49) and Becca Wagner (28th 14:24).

South Ripley's number two runner was Angel Moore placing 14th in a time of 13:25. Behind Moore was Jessilyn Dewitt (15th 13:26), Brittany Dewitt (31st 14:33), Ashley Benz (33rd 14:48), Kelly Borter (36th 14:55) and Jordon Webster (32nd 15:05).

Patricia Watson was Milan's second runner to finish taking 24th place with a time of 13:50. Following Watson was Tatijana Marsee (26th 13:57), Arielle Noel (27th 14:23), Sam Stable (44th 18:16) and Kyla Cook (45th 18:20).

Eagles defeat Franklin County 4-0 in first round of Sectional Tourney

Jac-Cen-Del's soccer team picked up a win over Franklin County, Tuesday night in the first round of the sectional tournament. The Eagles defeated the Wildcats 4-0 to advance to the semifinal round of the tournament where they will be facing the Lawrenceburg Tigers.

Andrew Wagner put the Eagles on the board scoring the first goal of the game. The other three goals came from Derek Jones who score two and Josh Brancamp.
With the win the Eagles' record now stands at 11-6 on the season. The shutout marked their fifth of the season.

"Considering the bad weather conditions, rain and cold we played well," noted JCD coach Mark Jones, "We played well enough to advance but we will need to play better to win the next game." The Eagles will be taking on the Tigers this Saturday at Lawrenceburg with the game starting at 11:00 am (slow time). The winner of this match will advance to the finals, which will be played at 6:00 pm (slow time) on Saturday night.
