Raiders defeat L'burg 51-42 at home on Homecoming night

Three of South Ripley's starting five players scored in double-digits to help lead the Raiders past Lawrenceburg in a 51-42 win Friday night at Tyson Auditorium on Homecoming night. Tyler Ester led the way with 14 points followed by Michael Fear with 12 and Jacob Lemon with 10.

The Raiders took a two point lead after the first quarter when they outscored the Tigers 12-10. They added to their lead and pushed it to 9 before halftime after holding the Tigers to just 7 second quarter points. South Ripley added 14 to their total in the second quarter.

In the third quarter South Ripley pushed their advantage to double-digits outscoring Lawrenceburg 12-10. Going into the fourth quarter the Raiders were leading 38-27.

Lawrenceburg managed to outscore the Raiders by two points in the fourth quarter (15-13) but it wouldn't be enough as the Raiders grabbed their eighth victory of the season.

Tony Lloyd led the Raiders with 10 rebounds followed by Ester with 7. Brandon Seabolt and Lloyd led the team with 3 as
sists each and Michael Mathews had a team high 3 steals.

The Raiders have two games this weekend, both of which are at home. On Friday night they will be hosting the Switzerland County Pacers and on Saturday night they will be hosting the Southwestern Rebels. Both games are scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.

Eagles grab two straight home wins over Oldenburg and South Dearborn

Jac-Cen-Del's varsity basketball team picked up two straight home victories this weekend, winning by an average of 24.5 points per game. In their first game on Friday night the Eagles defeated Oldenburg by a score of 69-35 and on Saturday night they defeated South Dearborn by a score of 54-39.

Against Oldenburg the Twisters managed to keep the game close in the first quarter allowing JCD to go ahead by just 2 at 14-12. In the second quarter though the Eagles took off outscoring Oldenburg 22-8 to take a 36-20 lead going into halftime.

JCD continued to pour it on the Twisters as they held them to just four points in the third quarter while the added 16 to their total.

In the fourth quarter the Twisters hit double-digits again but it wasn't enough as the Eagles grabbed the 34 point victory.

Adam Peetz led the Eagles with a double-double scoring a team high 14 points and pulling
down a team high 12 rebounds. Justin Huff was next on the scoring list with 12 points. Tyler Einhaus added 9 and Andrew Huntington, Derek Jones and Chip Schuler all chipped in 8 points each. As a team the Eagles chalked up 17 steals, with Einhaus claiming 8 of them.

In their game against South Dearborn the game was close again in the first quarter with both teams scoring 9 points.

JCD more than doubled the Knights' second quarter efforts when they outscored them 18-8 to take a 10 point lead after the first half of play.

In the third quarter the Knights battled back and cut the deficit to 5 after outscoring the Eagles 13-8.

The Eagles again more than doubled the Knights' efforts in the fourth quarter outscoring them 19-9 to grab the 15 point victory.

Justin Huff was JCD's leading scorer with 14 points. Peetz was the only other Eagle to score double-digits finishing the game with 10 points. Chip Schuler scored 9 and Einhaus had 8. Einhaus led the team with 5 assists
and Peetz led with 7 rebounds.

The Eagles have another back-to-back weekend playing South Decatur on Friday night and Trinity Lutheran on Saturday night. Both games are scheduled to start at 6:00 pm.
