Knowing the need for disaster relief for victims
of the Asian tsunami is still prevalent, the Milan Tsunami
Committee has been formed and has organized a fundraiser.
This Saturday, February 5, from 7-11 a.m., you can enjoy a
gourmet breakfast at the Milan Railroad Inn for only $15.00
for adults and $10.00 for children. The buffet will consist
of the works - eggs, sausage, bacon, biscuits and gravy, pancakes
cooked to order with your favorite topping and filling. According
to organizers of the event, all proceeds above actual cost
will go to the tsunami relief fund.
Also from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. there will be a Silent Auction
and Bake Sale on Saturday at the Milan United Methodist Church. "There
are a lot of really neat items," noted Stephanie Baker,
who said the event is a combination of the effort of several
individuals.
People are encouraged to come and check out the items on the
silent auction and write a bid several times during the auction.
All the items are donated with the proceeds going to
the tsunami relief fund being 100 percent.
For individuals or businesses that simply would like to give
a donation, they may do so by sending a check payable to "Tsunami
Relief" to McKittrick Real Estate, 855 N. Warpath Drive,
Milan, IN 47031. Those interested in more information about
the event or giving may contact John McKittrick at 654-3840.
The fundraiser is sponsored by the Milan Tsunami Committee,
comprised of member churches of the Milan Council of Churches
and various other organizations and individuals. The committee
is chaired by John McKittrick, with Rev. Lamar Brown, pastor
of the Wesleyan Church, serving as treasurer.
