Town Hall discussed at Sunman mtg.
Cathy May - Contributing Writer
There was a good deal of discussion on the Town
Hall Accessibility Evaluation created by Hannum, Wagle and
Cline at the January 20, Sunman Town Board meeting.
The report details changes that need to be made to the new
town hall building to make it ADA compliant. The costs could
reach $290,000. The biggest expense would be an elevator at
$116,500. Board member John Campbell felt the town should investigate
the cost of putting up a 3,500 square foot building. The matter
will be taken under advisement.
Clerk-Treasurer Kris Schneider updated the board on the Economic
Development Strategy developed for the Ripley County Economic
Development Corporation by Thomas P. Miller and Associates.
It stresses the development of the I-74 corridor and the expansion
of the tourism industry. The report will be presented to the
public on March 3.
The contractor for the sanitary sewer line at Raintree Terrace
has yet to be selected. Both contractors who submitted bids
will be sent a list of questions that must be answered before
the job is awarded.
Marshal Mark Denny reported the vehicles are in good shape
and the Reserve Officers are up to date on their hours. Denny
suggested that council update the emergency snow removal routes.
It takes two council members to declare a snow emergency.
All three board members attended the meeting: Wayne Jenner,
John Campbell and Mike Wolffe. Also present to advise the board
was Clerk-Treasurer Kris Schneider. The next meeting of the
Sunman Town Board will be February 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the
new Sunman Town Hall.
