Mary Raffignone
Mary Raffignone, 78, of Elrod, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at the
Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born at Faubush in Pulaski
County, Kentucky on January 20, 1927 the daughter of Marvin and Lula Pittman
Johnson. She was married to Lovell Lee Raffignone on June 24, 1950 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Ron Raffignone and wife Denise of Waynetown;
one daughter, Kathy Craig of Elrod; grandchildren, Lori Sullivan of Elrod, Jeremy
Stevens of Michigan, Mandy Raffignone of Waynetown; and great-grandchildren Brandon,
Christian and Jacob. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers
Earl, Bertram, and Arnold Johnson.
Mrs. Raffignone was a homemaker and a member of the Washington Baptist Church
at Elrod.
Funeral services will be held Friday, February 25, 11 a.m. at the Washington
Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial will be in the
church cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, February 24, 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home, Versailles and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at
the church.

Dorothy E. Bradley
Dorothy E. Bradley, 87, of Moores Hill, died Monday, February 21, 2005 at the
Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. She was born June 4, 1917 in Rising
Sun the daughter of Reuben Bradley and Maggie English, both deceased. She married
Cecil Bradley and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Cecil W. Bradley of Aurora, Paul L. Bradley of Dillsboro,
David L. Bradley of Rising Sun, Oscar W. Bradley of Moores Hill, John L. Bradley
of Moores Hill, Robert L. Bradley of Moores Hill; daughters, Shirley A. Moody
of Moores Hill, Bonnie Saunders of Rising Sun, Bertha Nichols of Rising Sun;
sisters, Geneva Smith of Osgood; Irene Spaulding of Aurora, Jennie Ballard of
Florida, Norma Lee Lane of Florida; 32 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bradley was a homemaker.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, February 24, 11-1 p.m. at Filter Funeral
Home, Aurora. Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 1 p.m. at the funeral
home. Burial will be in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery, Aurora.

Jr.
Ausburn William Ben “B.J.” Gibson,
Jr., 21, of Moores Hill, formerly of Switzerland County,
died Monday, February
14, 2005 at University of Cincinnati Hospital, Cincinnati,
Ohio.
He was born October 3, 1983 in Madison, Indiana, the son of Ausburn William
Ben Gibson, Sr. and Donna Sue (Romans) Miller.
He married Margie Michelle Zervos on November 16, 2001 in Versailles and she
survives.
Other survivors include one daughter: Haily Calista Rose Gibson at home; mother
and stepfather: Donna Romans Miller & Frank Miller of Milton, KY; father
and stepmother: Billy & Patricia Gibson of Milan; three sisters: Lena Gibson
of Lamb, IN: Jennifer Gibson of Milan; Kristie Gibson of Milton, KY. Grandparents:
Helen M. Gibson of Florence, IN; Wilma & Harold Romans of Brooksburg, IN;
step-grandmother: Patricia D. Miller of Vevay; step-grandfather: Frank Miller,
Sr. of Shelbyville, KY; step-grandparents: Dallas & Lorena Gibbs of Aurora;
mother-in-law and father-in-law: Margie & Jim Zervos of Moores Hill; brother-in-law:
Jimmy Zervos of Lamb, IN; many aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Herschel “Bob” Gibson;
great grandparents: Howard Romans and Cathryn Monroe; step great grandmother:
Erma Gant-Turner; uncle: Jerry Glen Gibson; cousin: Robert Hayes “Bobby” Gibson,
Jr.
Mr. Gibson attended South Dearborn High School in Aurora. He had been employed
at Specialty Adhesive Film Company in Aurora for the past 6 months as a machine
operator. He was formerly employed with his father at K & K Mini Mart in
Lawrenceburg.
Visitation will be held Thursday, February 17 from 5-8 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay. Funeral services will be held at the
funeral home on Friday, February 18 beginning at 11:00 a.m. with Bro. Doug
Norman officiating.
Burial will be in the Vevay Cemetery.

Clifford H. Welch
Clifford H. Welch, 84, of Holton passed away Tuesday, February 15 at King's Daughters'
Hospital in Madison.
He entered this life on August 15, 1920 in Madison the son of Ben and Josephine
(Smith) Welch and they preceded him in death. He married Frances (Adams) Welch
and together they owned and operated the New Marion Tavern for several years.
He was an Army veteran of WWII serving with Company C 68th Armored Infantry Battalion
in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe, attaining the rank
of Private First Class.
Surviving are one son, Clifford Wayne Welch of Vevay; one sister, Mildred Jones
of Nabb; several grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Frances Adams Welch in 1995;
three sisters, Kathryn Welch, Louise Patterson, Peggy Meirle; three brothers,
Paul Welch, Charles D. Welch and Bernard Welch.
Services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 19 at the Bovard-Holt-Furst
Funeral Home in Versailles with burial in Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, February 18 and noon until services
on Saturday, February 19 at Bovard-Holt-Furst Funeral Home in Versailles.
Military gravesite services will be conducted by the American Legion Post #9
from Madison. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the
American Legion Post #9. Cards will be available at the funeral home.
Erma Madelynn
(Deegins) Gant-Turner
Erma Madelynn (Deegins) Gant-Turner, 90, of Vevay, died Saturday,
February 12, 2005 at King's Daughters' Hospital in Madison.
She was born July 10, 1914 in
Degnan, OK the daughter of James Madison Deegins and Maxie (Lovejoi) Deegins,
both deceased. She married Adolph H. "Pinky" Gant on December 15, 1938
and he preceded her in death. She then married Ephriam Louis Turner on August
8, 1975 and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia D. Miller of Vevay, Phyllis JoJuana "Jo" Kolbiaz
of St. Petersburg, FL; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; seven
great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Annette Powell; dearest friends, Mary Harmeling
of Cincinnati, OH, Wilma Turner of Vevay; and other relatives. She was preceded
in death by two sisters, Merle Taylor and Frances Graham and one brother, Henry
Lee Deegins.
Mrs. Gant-Turner was a 1931 graduate of Taylor High School in North Bend, OH
and a 1959 graduate of Tomilson Career Institute receiving her practical nursing
degree. She had worked early in life in the television and radio show business
and had starred in several shows and productions in the 1930's and 1940's. She
had also owned and operated Dolph's Delicatessen in St. Petersburg for many years
and later worked as an insurance agent. She was an accomplished yodeler winning
the 1946 United States National Yodeling Championship. After receiving her degree
she worked as a charge nurse and an operating room nurse in New Orleans and Cincinnati
for many years until she retired in her 70's. She was also a member of the Markland
Baptist Church in Markland.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 5-8 p.m. at Haskell & Morrison
Funeral Home in Vevay.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19, 11 a.m. at the funeral home
with Pastor C. Martin Justice officiating.
Burial will be in the Vevay Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Gideons International
Memorial Bible Plan in memory of Erma.
Inez O. Hoffmeyer
Inez O. Hoffmeyer, 86, of Milan, died Wednesday, February 16, 2005 at the Waters
of Batesville. She was born September 17, 1918 in Ripley County the daughter
of Otho and Maude (Siford) Ashcraft, both deceased. She married Leroy Hoffmeyer
on September 22, 1937 and he preceded her in death in May of 1977.
Survivors include two sons, Norman (Beverly) Hoffmeyer of Brooksville, FL, Richard
(Glenda) Hoffmeyer of Mount Dora, FL; two daughters, Joyce (Larry) Volz of Milan,
Gladys (Ed) Moore of Greenfield; one brother, Delton Ashcraft of Crittensberg,
KY; four sisters, Kathryn Hollin of Moores Hill, Patricia Bockhorst of Milan,
Janet Hedrick of Moores Hill, Carolyn Manford of Aurora; fifteen grandchildren;
and twenty-nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by four brothers,
Kenneth, Elmer, Paul and Leslie Ashcraft and one sister, Lois Cottingham.
Mrs. Hoffmeyer was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Milan United Methodist
Church where she was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Visitation will be held Friday, February 18, 5-8 p.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral
Home in Moores Hill.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 19, 11 a.m. at the funeral home
with Pastor Stormy Sherer-Berry officiating.
Burial will be in the South Sparta Cemetery south of Moores Hill. Memorials may
go to the South Sparta Community Church or Milan Rescue 30.
Correction
In the Miriam C. (Stegemoller) Obendorf obituary that appeared in the February
15 edition of the Osgood Journal it stated that she was preceded in death by
one grandson. It should have stated that she was preceded in death by one great-grandson.

Margaret E. Jobst
Margaret E. Jobst, 76, of Batesville, formerly of Versailles, died Monday, January
31, 2005 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born June
28, 1928 in Versailles the daughter of Marshall and Estella (Fox) Jackson, both
deceased. She married Delbert Rullman and he preceded her in death. She then
married Earl Jobst and he survives. She was a 1946 graduate of Versailles High
School.
Other survivors include three daughters, Shirley Acevedo of Princeton, TX, Sharon
Herrema and Karen Buczek both of Grand Rapids, MI; one son, Larry Eaglin of Madison;
one sister, Neva Rea of Holton; four brothers, Willard and Hubert Jackson of
Versailles, Kenneth Jackson of Osgood, Marion Jackson of Terre Haute; eleven
grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one
sister, Ruth Carter.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, February 3, 10-11 a.m. at Meyers Funeral
Home in Batesville.
Funeral services will follow visitation at the funeral home at 11 a.m. with Rev.
Becky Pohle officiating.
Burial will be in the Tanglewood Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may go to
the family.
