South Ripley's baseball team picked up their second victory of the season with a 7-5 win over the Switzerland County Pacers at home on Monday night. With the win the Raiders push their record to 2-3 on the season.

The Raiders struck first in the bottom of the first inning when Russ Steinhauer scored on a Michael Fear double. Fear then scored on a Josh Cumberwoth hit to give SR a 2-0 lead.

Switzerland County recovered in the top of the first when they scored two runs to tie the game up. The tie didn't last long though, as SR plated three more runs when they came to bat in the bottom of the second. Izzy Burkett reached first on a walk, then stole second and was batted in. Russ Steinhauer reached base as well and was batted in by a Michael Mathews double. Mathews then scored when Tyler Ester hit a double to make
the score 5-2.

Neither team scored again until the sixth inning when the Pacers scored two more runs to cut the Raiders lead to one at 5-4. SR retaliated when they came to bat in the bottom of the sixth adding their final two runs to their total. Izzy Burkett got on with a single, then again stole second and scored on a Steinhauer single. Steinhauer cross home plate for the third time in the contest when Michael Fear hit a double.

Switzerland County had one more chance to take the lead, but couldn't get anything going in the top of the seventh and fell 7-5.

Steinhauer finished the game batting 1 for 2 with an RBI and 3 runs scored. Michael Fear went 3 for 4 with 2 RBI's and a run scored and Burkett batted 1 for 2 with 2 runs scored.

The Raiders play again this Friday at home against East Central. That game is scheduled to start at 4:30 pm.
