Alvin H. Muckerheide
Alvin H. Muckerheide, 79, of Cincinnati, OH, died Wednesday,
November 23, 2005 at his residence. He was born in Batesville
June 22, 1926, the son of Leo Muckerheide, Sr. and Eleonora
Jansing Muckerheide and they preceded him in death. He
married Dorothy Stenger on July 10, 1948 at Holy Family
Catholic Church in Oldenburg, and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons Lynn of Omaha, NE; Dan of Kansas City,
MO; and Mike of Hebron, KY; sister Marian of Cincinnati,
and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Helen and brother
Leo, Jr.
Mr. Muckerheide was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a metal
worker for Batesville Casket Co. for 40 years, retiring in
1988. He was a member of the American Legion Post #530 in
Cincinnati.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 26 at the St. Louis
Catholic Church, Oldenburg, with Rev. Daniel Mahan officiating.
Burial was at the Holy Family Catholic Cemetery in Oldenburg.
The Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville was in charge of the
arrangements.
Donald Keith
Hornberger
Donald Keith Hornberger, 49, of Sunman passed away Tuesday,
November 22, 2005 at his residence. He was born December
29, 1955 in Batesville, the son of Donald F. and Joy Cardinal
Hornberger. He married Donna Clements on November 11, 1978
at the Zion Lutheran Church in Manchester and she survives.
Other survivors include mother, Joy Hornberger of Milan;
daughter Mindy and her fiancÈe Rick Reilman of Milan;
brothers Kevin and wife Rita of Brookville; Kendall and wife
Diana of Milan; Kris and wife Valerie of Milan; three step-grandsons;
one niece and six nephews; plus aunts, uncles, cousins and
many friends.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Mr. Hornberger was a farmer, and also worked as a mechanic at New Point Stone
Co. He was a member of the St. Pius Catholic Church.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 26 at the St. Pius Catholic Church with
Fr. Frank Eckstein officiating. Burial was in the St. Pius Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the St. Pius Church Cemetery, Sunman Life Squad or
to Hospice of Margaret-Mary Community Hospital.

Romweber
ErmaLinda S. Romweber, 94, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday,
November 22, 2005 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in
Batesville. She was born December 14, 1910 in Morris, the
daughter of George Francis and Petronella (Doll) Siefert
and they preceded her in death. She married George H. Romweber
on April 9, 1932 in Indianapolis and he also preceded her
in death.
Survivors include sisters Martha Bedel of Morris and Alma
Armstrong of Dayton, OH, numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by sisters Helen Bischoff, Roseanna
Holtegel and Joan Tekulve; brothers Ralph, Dr. Paul and Richard
Siefert.
Mrs. Romweber was a payroll and expense clerk at Romweber,
Inc. before retiring. She was a charter and founding member
of the Margaret Mary Community Hospital Guild, a member of
St. Louis Church and its Ladies Society, Knights of St. John’s
Ladies Auxiliary, Oldenburg Academy Alumni Associate and
was a Red Cross Nurses Aid since 1942 at Margaret Mary Community
Hospital.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 26 at the St. Louis
Catholic Church in Batesville with Fr. Bill Farris, O.F.M.
officiating. Burial was at the St. Louis Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Gibault School. Weigel Funeral
Home in Batesville was in charge of the arrangements.
John N. Lightfoot
John N. Lightfoot, 72, of Osgood, passed away Friday, November
25, 2005 at the Heritage House in Greensburg. He was born
at McKenzie, Tennessee on December 4, 1932 the son of Noah
and Imogene Spivey Lightfoot. He was married to Nadine
Jones on September 11, 1954 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son Joel Lightfoot and his wife
Laura of Brownsburg; three grandchildren Erica Stryczek and
her husband Aaron, Brandon Lightfoot and Jerrica Faulkner.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter
Lisa.
Mr. Lightfoot was a 1950 graduate of Indianapolis Washington
High School and attended the Indiana Business College. He
was an Army veteran of the Korean War and had been employed
with General Motors for 23 years. He was a member of the
Washington Baptist Church and the Ripley County Gideon's.
Funeral services will be held today, November 29 at 12:00
p.m. at the Washington Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons
officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation
will be today from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the
church.
Memorials may be given to the Gideon’s. The Stratton-Karsteter

Mike “Woody” A.
Heath
Mike “Woody” A. Heath, 56, of Seymour, passed
away at his residence. He was born September 18, 1949, the
son of Andrew and Katie (Marsh) Purcell of Batesville and
they survive.
Survivors also include step-father Phillip Purcell; brother
Jerry W. and wife Beverly of Vevay; sister Donna Sue (Lawrence)
Dean of Batesville; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles,
cousins, friends and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by sister, Patricia Mae “Patty” Heath.
Mr. Heath was a member of the Church of Christ and attended
First Baptist Church.
Graveside funeral services were Sunday, November 27 at the
Reddington Cemetery with Rev. Bruce Cochran officiating.
The Voss Funeral Home in was in charge of the arrangements.

Raymond W. Lauber
Raymond W. Lauber, 90, of Osgood, passed away Monday, November
28, 2005 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
He was born September 10, 1915 in Sunman, the son of August
and Estella Ellis Lauber and they preceded him in death.
He married Mabel Mary Huffmeyer on April 18, 1942 and she
preceded him in death on November 14, 2003.
Survivors include sons Irvin and wife Brenda of Plant City,
FL; David of Columbus; Bill and wife Amy of Osgood; daughters
Linda and husband Roger Furlow of Osgood; Glenna and husband
Gary Goforth of Dillsboro; sisters Myrtle Hixson of Cincinnati
and Estella Fletcher of Milan; 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Harvey and Elmer; sisters Ilene Allen, Anna
Marie Couch and Betty Segrest, and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Lauber was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a farmer and sold Rawleigh Products.
He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon, Wm A. Gilland
American Legion Post #267 of Osgood and Keene Henneke VFW Post #9987 of Napoleon.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 30, 4-7:00 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral
Home, 306 S. Walnut Street, Osgood. He will lie in state at St. John’s
Lutheran Church in Napoleon on Thursday, December 1 from 10-11:00 a.m. Funeral
services will follow. Burial will be at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in
Napoleon with graveside military services will be conducted by Keene Henneke
VFW of Napoleon and the Wm. A. Gilland American Legion Post Osgood.

Rosemary Vanosdol
Rosemary Vanosdol, 68, of Versailles, formerly of Canaan,
passed away Thursday, November 24, 2005 at the University
Hospital in Cincinnati. She was born at Milan on September
30, 1938 the daughter of Elmer and Edna Pettit Poling.
She was married to Albert Vanosdol and he preceded her
in death on September 9, 2001.
Survivors include two daughters, Rhonda Thieman and her husband
Randy of Cross Plains and Rita Vanosdol of Madison; one son
Rick Vanosdol of Versailles; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild;
two sisters, Sharon Sawyer of Elrod and Jean Sawyer of Hamilton,
OH.
Mrs. Vanosdol was a 1955 graduate of Vevay High School and
was a 48-year employee of US Shoe in Vevay. She was a member
of the Cross Plains Baptist Church.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 28 at the Cross
Plains Baptist Church with Rev. Troy Dean officiating. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.

Russell B. “Russ” Hamilton
Russell B. “Russ” Hamilton, 87, of Greendale,
passed away Saturday, November 26, 2005 at Milan. He was
born May 28, 1918 in Ghent, KY, the son of Otis and Pearl
Furnish Hamilton and they preceded him in death. He married
Mary Fulton Hamilton and she also preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter Sharon Kay Craft of Murfreesboro,
TN; sister Ruth Baylor of Milan; two grandchildren; four
great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Mr. Hamilton was the owner and operator of a General Motors
dealership. He was a member of Dillsboro American Legion
Post 292, Hamline Chapel UMC, Fraternal Order of Masons,
Scottish Rite-Murat Temple, Southeastern Shrine Club and
a volunteer at the Dearborn County Hospital Auxiliary.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, November 29 at the Fitch-Denney
Funeral Home, 455 Ridge Avenue, Lawrenceburg. Funeral services
will be on Wednesday, November 30 at 11:00 a.m. at the Hamline
Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Sam Chizmar officiating.
Burial will follow in the Greendale Cemetery.

Samuel Webster
Stickelman
Samuel Webster Stickelman, 77, of Holton, passed away Friday,
November 25, 2005 at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital in North
Vernon. He was born January 23, 1928 at New Lisbon, the son
of Opha and Nellie Webster Stickelman and they preceded him
in death. He married Velma Faye Beach on March 21, 1951 and
she survives.
Survivors also include daughter Cynthia Ann Melton of Holton;
brother Robert Stickelman of Richmond; sisters Clara Nell
Caswell of Dupont and Mary Whitehouse of New Castle; and
grandchildren Samuel Melton of Holton and Rachael Curl of
Holton.
He was preceded in death by brothers Charles, Ronald, Harold,
John and Horace Stickelman; and sisters Elsie Higginbothon,
Dorothy Branham and Hilda Sheets.
Mr. Stickelman was a Korean War Army veteran and worked at
Seagram’s for over 40 years, retiring in the 1980’s.
He was a member of Napoleon Keene Henneke VFW Post, the Holton
Christian Church and a 53-year member of the Holton Fire
Department. He was precinct committeeman for Otter Creek
One for over 50 years and a past member of the Holton Water
Board.
Funeral services are today, Tuesday, November 29 at 11:00
a.m. at the Holton Christian Church. Burial will be at the
Holton Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Holton Fire Department or Holton
Christian Church. Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood was
in charge of arrangements.
Sharon Loomis
Sharon Loomis, 59, of Sunman, passed away Thursday, November
24, 2005 at her residence. She was born September 22, 1946
in Harrison, OH, the daughter of Emil and Jean Smith Poye
and they preceded her in death. She married James R. Loomis
and he survives.
Survivors include daughters Nikko Rumgay of Batesville and
Leah Lancaster of Osgood; sons Danny Patrick of Cleveland,
OH and James Loomis of Batesville; 10 grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Loomis was a homemaker.
Funeral services were Monday, November 28 at the Little Memory
Church of Old Regular Baptist of Jesus Christ. Burial was
at the Little Memory Church Cemetery.

Velena M. O’Connell
Hassfurder
Velena M. O’Connell Hassfurder, 94, of Madison, passed
away Wednesday, November 23, 2005 at The Waters of Clifty
Falls in Madison. She was born March 8, 1911 in Switzerland
County, the daughter of Berkley and Nannie Claghorn O’Connell
and they preceded her in death. She married Earl Hassfurder
on February 7, 1927 and he also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons Harold and wife Lucille Hassfurder
of Madison and Norman of Madison; four grandchildren; nine
great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by step-father Les Wiley; companion
and friend Ed LaVelle; daughter Nancy Carolyn Hunt; daughter-in-law
Fern Ackerman Hassfurder; sisters and brothers-in-law Elma
and Bill Ross, and Corrine and Bill Northern; brother and
sister-in-law Vernon and Mary O’Connell; niece Karolyn
Flannery and nephew Vernon Berkley O’Connell.
Mrs. Hassfurder was a graduate of Vevay High School. She
worked at the Little Kiddie Folk Shoppe in Madison for several
years. She also worked for the Charlestown Ammunition Plant
and at the Jefferson Proving Ground. She owned and operated
the Red Top Cab service for several years. Hassfurder volunteered
as a docent and was a member of Historic Madison, Inc. She
participated in RSVP; Ladies of the Madison Moose Lodge,
serving as a past officer; Ladies Auxiliary of Jefferson
Post 9 of the American Legion; member of the former Madison
Eagles Lodge and Madison Pilot Club, serving as a past officer.
She attended the West Madison United Methodist Church and
Faith Covenant Church.
Funeral services were Sunday, November 27 at the Morgan-Webster-Nay
Funeral Home in Madison with Rev. David Leland and Rev. Judy
Howard-Snell officiating. Burial was at Grandview Memorial
Gardens in Madison.

Anita Steele, 73, of Milan, died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at Margaret Mary
Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born August 13, 1932 in Milan the daughter
of Howard and Violett Marie (Loomis) Justice.
Survivors include one son, Jack Steele of Moores Hill; one brother, Leo Justice
of Milan; four sisters, Nina Davies of Dillsboro, Elaina Gray of Milan, Bessie
Lamkin of Aurora, Sherry Henson of Scottsburg; five grandchildren and several
great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Howard Steele; two
sisters and one brother.
She was a self employed seamstress and babysitter. She was a member of the Milan
Legion Auxiliary.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, November 21, from 9 a.m. until the time
of funeral services at 11 a.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Pastor
Lamar Brown officiating.

Luella V. Voegele, 86, of Dillsboro, died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at the
Waters of Dillsboro. She was born August 9, 1919 in Reading, Ohio the daughter
of William and Lillian (Kuntz) Pfenning, both deceased. She married Eugene
E. Voegele on October 18, 1941 and he preceded her in death on July 19, 2000.
Survivors include five sons, Eugene of Vevay, Gerald of Reading, Ohio, Robert
of Clearwater, Florida, Michael (Cathleen) of Batavia, Ohio, Brian (Carla) of
West Chester, Ohio; three daughters, Carol (Bill) Greenwood of Cincinnat, Anita
(Jim) Grehl of Dillsboro, Shelia (Steve) Lehrter of Reading, Ohio; one sister,
Rita Meyer of Cincinnati; four brothers, Ken and Jim Pfening of Reading, Ohio,
Paul Pfening of Roschester, NY, Bill Pfening of Cincinnati; 21 grandchildren;
28 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. She was preceded in death
by one son, Dennis Voegele, four brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Voegele was a homemaker and a member of the St. Charles Catholic Church
in Milan and the St. Rose Auxiliary Ladies Society in Reading.

Roberta Anne Schulz, 58, of Cincinnati, OH, died Sunday, November 20, 2005 at
her residence. She was born June 6, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of
Robert and Dolores (Vogelsang) Greiner.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors include son Michael Schulz; two daughters Susan and Angela Schulz;

Veronica June Holman
Veronica June Holman, 58, of Greensburg, died Thursday, November 17, 2005 at
the Hickory Creek Nursing Home in Greensburg. She was born December 31, 1946
in Milan the daughter of John and Martha Marie (Effinger) Holman.
She is survived by one brother, David C. (Dolly) Holman of Greensburg; one sister,
Patricia Ann Fife of Yorktown and several nieces and nephews. Her parents preceded
her in death.
She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 21 at the St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Greensburg with Msgr. Harold Knueven officiating. Interment
was in the St. Magdalene Catholic Cemetery in Madison.

Dennis Frank Jones
Dennis Frank Jones, 65, of Dillsboro, passed away Friday,
November 11, 2005 at his residence. He was born July 2,
1940 in Walton, KY, the son of Raymond and Mildred (Chichester)
Jones. His father preceded him in death. He married Theodora
Graves and she also preceded him in death.
Survivors include mother Mildred (Chichester) Jones of Norwood, OH; daughter
Gabrielle (Jones) Jones of Dillsboro and brother Tom Jones of Norwood, OH.
Mr. Jones was a truck driver. He was a member of the National Muzzleloaders & Rifles
Association, the National Knife Collectors Association, a charter member of the
Republican National Committee, assistant scoutmaster of the Boy Scouts of America,
a greeter in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and high priest
group leader.
Funeral Services will be today, Tuesday, November 15, at 8:00 p.m. at the Church
of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints, 6168 Martha North Drive, Aurora. Burial will
be at the New Bethel Cemetery in Verona, KY. Ulrich Filter Funeral Home, Dillsboro,

F. Abplanalp
Ferdinand F. Abplanalp, 90, of Batesville, died Thursday,
November 10, 2005 at Hospitality Hall in Batesville. He was
born August 14, 1915 in Napoleon the son of Peter and Cecelia
Brunner Abplanalp, both deceased. He married Mary Bunyard
Abplanalp on April 27, 1946 at St. Louis Church in Batesville
and she survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Sue Wissel of Batesville,
Nancy Schuetz of Indianapolis, Barbara Nolting of Greensburg,
Judy Luhring of Batesville; ten grandchildren; and eleven
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by five sisters,
Sophia Young, Theresa Goldschmidt, Elsie Fasbinder, Rosemarie
Rennekamp and Celestine Enneking and three brothers, Ernest,
Harry and Vincent Abplanalp.
Mr. Abplanalp was an electrician for Public Service of Indiana
retiring in 1980. He was a WWII Navy veteran and a former
member of the Batesville Volunteer Fire Department and the
Batesville Termites semi-pro baseball team.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 14, 10 a.m. at St. Louis Church in
Batesville with Rev. Gregory Bramlage officiating.
Burial was in the St. Louis Cemetery. Memorials may go to the Batesville Volunteer
Fire Department or to St. Nicholas School.

George Stanley
George Stanley, 81, of Dillsboro, died Thursday, November 10, 2005 at Dearborn
County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. He was born February 20, 1924 in Dillsboro
the son of Tom Stanley and Marie McCulley, both deceased. He married Betty
M. (Seifelt) Stanley and she survives. He was a septic tank service owner.
Other survivors include two sons, Kenneth “Kenny” Stanley of Rising
Sun, Jerry Stanley of Dillsboro; two daughters, Laura (Stanley) Lyons of Aurora,
Bonnie Walston of Dillsboro; one brother, Bill Stanley of W. Frankfort, IL; one
sister, Nora (Stanley) Renn of W. Frankfort, IL; twelve grandchildren; and twenty
great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Donald Stanley.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 12, 10:30 a.m. at Ulrich Filter
Funeral Home in Dillsboro.
Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials may go to the Dillsboro

Joseph G. Wanstrath
Joseph G. Wanstrath, 72, of Greensburg, died Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Odd
Fellows Home in Greensburg. He was born March 5, 1933 in Decatur County the
son of Joseph Wanstrath and Josephine Thie Wanstrath, both deceased.
Survivors include one sister, Ariene Johnson of Chesapeake, VA; two nephews;
and one niece.
Mr. Wanstrath was a self-employed logger before retiring. He was also an Army
veteran of the Korean War.
Graveside funeral services were held Monday, November 14, 10:15 a.m. at St. John’s
Cemetery in Enochsburg.

Loretta (Rita) Fields
Loretta (Rita) Fields, 57, of Moores Hill passed away Thursday, November 10,
2005 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. She was born July 15,
1948 in Cumberland, KY, the daughter of John and Louie (Fouts) Sturgill both
deceased. She married Marshall “Red” Fields who preceded her in
death in 1991.
Survivors include sons Victor and wife Jill Halpin of Cincinnati, OH; John and
wife Pamela Halpin of Hamilton, OH; and Sean Tomka of Moores Hill; brother Clyde
Sturgill of Canaan; sisters Anita McKinley of Moores Hill; Verda Smith of St.
Augustine, FL; Barbara Smith of St. Augustine, FL; Delores Gail Strickland of
Castlehayne, NC; and Linda Joyce Zeigler of St. Augustine, FL; and two grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by five brothers.
Mrs. Fields was employed at the Pine Knoll Assisted Living Center in Lawrenceburg.
Graveside services are today, Tuesday, November 15, at 2:00 p.m. at Huff Cemetery,
Cumberland, KY.

Neva V. Rea
Neva V. Rea, 85, of Dabney, passed away Friday, November
11, 2005 at her residence. She was born April 6, 1920 near
Versailles, the daughter of Marshall and Estelle Fox Jackson
both deceased. She married Raymond Laswell on August 19,
1938, and he preceded her in death on January 7, 1943.
She married Wilcie Rea on June 6, 1953 and he survives.
Survivors also include son Rev. Mearl Laswell and wife Beverly of Sunrise Beach,
MO; daughters Marilynn Adams and husband Bob of Reynoldsburg, OH; Myrna Cox and
husband Doug of Holton; brothers Willard Jackson of Versailles; Kenneth Jackson
of Osgood; Hubert Jackson and wife Eva of Versailles; and Marion Jackson and
wife Jaleh of Terre Haute; grandchildren Dana Naugle, Kara Ahrens, Kendra Eden,
Katy Laswell, Chris Cox and Kassey Cox; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Ruth Carter and Margaret Jobst and grandson
Doug Laswell.
Mrs. Rea was a homemaker and a member of the Dabney Baptist Church and the Riley
Cheer Guild. She was a former employee of the Delaney Wood Heel Factory in Versailles.

Robert William “Bob” Starkey,
Sr.
Robert William “Bob” Starkey, Sr., 93, of Butlerville
passed away Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Manderley Healthcare
Center in Osgood. He was born December 11, 1911 in Butlerville,
the son of Mort and Edith Starkey, and they preceded him
in death. Mr. Starkey married first wife Ruth Kiser in 1922
and she preceded him in death. He married Bernice Mills on
February 7, 1948 in Scottsburg and she also preceded him
in death.
Survivors include sons James A. of Butlerville and Robert
William, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; daughter Barbara Shepherd of
North Vernon; six grandchildren; several great-grandchildren
and great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Starkey was preceded in death by sister Opal Melson and
one grandson.
Mr. Starkey graduated from Butlerville High School in 1929.
He was in the U.S. Navy Seabees and served in WWII. Mr. Starkey
was employed with Spector Trucking in Indianapolis for 23
years. He was a member of the Butlerville Masonic Lodge for
50 years.
Funeral services were Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel
Funeral Home in North Vernon, with Gene Leeds from Matt Hester
Post #2021 V.F.W. officiating. Burial was at the Butlerville
Cemetery with military graveside honors conducted by the
North Vernon Matt Hester Post #2021 V.F.W.

Rosemary J. Papner
Rosemary J. Papner, 89, of Weisburg, passed away Thursday,
November 10, 2005 at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg.
She was born August 15, 1916 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter
of Thomas and Margaret Auer Rupley both deceased. She married
Edward W. Papner who preceded her in death on August 10,
1973.
Survivors include daughters Carol and Lois Papner of Hesperia, CA; and Elaine
Johnson of Ft. Myers, FL; sons Ronnie of Sunman; Kenny of Cincinnati, OH; David
of DeLand, IL; and Dennis of Ft. Myers, FL; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.
Mrs. Papner was a homemaker.
Funeral services were Sunday, November 13 at the Sunman Community Church with
Dan Steffen, pastor, officiating. Burial was at the St. Paul Cemetery, Sunman.
Cook Funeral Home of Sunman was in charge of arrangements.

Wayne Evans Brown
Wayne Evans Brown, 67, of Rising Sun, passed away Sunday,
November 13, 2005 at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg.
He was born November 25, 1937 in Fairview, the son of William
and Imogene (Clark) Brown both deceased. He married Carolyn
(Jenkins) Brown on April 20, 1962 and she survives.
Survivors also include daughter Leigh Kern and husband Jim of Aurora; brother
Terry and wife Gail Brown of Versailles; grandson Kevin Kern; granddaughters
Kirsten and Chelsea Kern; and nephew Kenton Brown of Versailles.
He was preceded in death by niece Cheryl Hughes.
Mr. Brown graduated from Versailles High School in 1956. He was a U.S. Marine
Corps and Army Reserves veteran. Mr. Brown was an electrician. He retired from
Cincinnati Incorporated in 1998. Mr. Brown was a member of the Bethel Unity Church
in Rising Sun, the Hartford Masonic Lodge #151, the Backwater Bass Club, and
S.E. Indiana EMMAUS. He was on the Ohio County Emergency Unit for 15 years.
Visitation will be Wednesday, November 16 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Markland Funeral
Home, 327 North High Street, Rising Sun. Funeral Services will be Thursday, November
17 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Jeral Treus and Pastor Dan Hunt
officiating. Burial will be at the Rising Sun New Cemetery.

Brent William
Sarringhaus
Brent William Sarringhaus, 38, of Sunman, died Wednesday,
November 2, 2005 at University Hospital, Cincinnati, OH.
He was born June 26, 1967 in Dearborn County, the son of
Gayle and Lavonne Meyer Sarringhaus, and they survive. Mr.
Sarringhaus married Ann Marie Laker on October 20, 1990 in
St. Nicholas and she also survives.
Survivors also include daughter Brenna and son Kurt; maternal
grandparents Clarence and Della Meyer of Sunman; paternal
grandfather Howard Sarringhaus of Napoleon; sisters Rhonda
Leek of Terre Haute; Danette Oswald of Lafayette; Lyndsey
Wynn of Sunman; and Junelle Sarringhaus of Batesville; and
brothers Jason of Greensburg; Elton of Oldenburg; Daren and
Clint of Batesville.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandmother Edna Sarringhaus.
Mr. Sarringhaus was a farmer. He was a member of the St.
Johns UCC and the Southeastern Indiana Independent Living
Center.
Funeral services were Saturday, November 4 at the Cook Funeral
Home in Sunman with Fr. Gregory Bramlage officiating. Burial
was at the St. Nicholas Cemetery.

Danny W. Dieckmann
Danny W. Dieckmann, 58, of the Napoleon area, passed away
Saturday, November 5, 2005 at the Decatur County Memorial
Hospital in Greensburg. He was born February 24, 1947 in
Batesville, the son of Wilbur and Luella May Hoff Dieckmann,
and they preceded him in death. He married Vera N. Reynolds
on January 24, 1975 in Koshkonong, MO, and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Travis and wife Beth Dieckmann
of Indianapolis; Tyler and Trent both of Greensburg; grandchild
Wyatt of Indianapolis; brothers Steve and wife Carren of
Osgood; and Bill and wife Becky of Greensburg.
Mr. Dieckmann was a 1966 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was
a lifelong farmer, a salesman for Garst Seeds for 20 years,
and enjoyed carpentry work. Mr. Dieckmann was a member of
the Community Church of Greensburg, Gideon’s Society
of Greensburg where he worked in the prison ministry, the
Napoleon V.F.W., the 4-H Council, and the Decatur County
Fair Board. He was a 4-H leader and Indiana State Star Farmer
of the Year in 1966.
Visitation will be today, November 8, from 3-8:00 p.m. and
Wednesday, November 9 at 9:00 a.m. Funeral services will
be Wednesday, November 9, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at the Community
Church of Greensburg, 1427 W. Vandalia Road, Greensburg with
Pastor Jon Porter officiating. Burial will be at the St.
Johns United Church of Christ Cemetery, Huntersville (Batesville)
with graveside military rites by the Napoleon V.F.W.
Memorials may be given to the Gideons or for a fund at North
Decatur High School in Mr. Dieckmann’s memory for the
Ag Department. Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg

Helen Elizabeth
Douglas
Helen Elizabeth Douglas, 97, of Versailles, passed away on
Sunday, November 6, 2005 at Manderley Health Care Center
in Osgood. She was born June 7, 1908 in Akron, OH, the daughter
of William and Josephine Seiler Roussert, and they preceded
her in death. She married John Ronald Douglas, and he also
preceded her in death on January 9, 1970.
Survivors include son William Ronald Douglas of Lewes, DE;
daughter Barbara Morris of Holton; sister Jeanette Jones
of Painesville, OH; five grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren
and one great-great-grandchild.
Mrs. Douglas was preceded in death by brothers Fred and Edmond
MacDonald; and Frank Roussert; sisters Geraldine and Grace
MacDonald; and Florence Roussert; and one grandchild.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 12, 2005 at 11:00
a.m. at the Greenlawn Chapel, Akron, OH. Burial will be at
the Greenlawn Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Hopewell Church in care of
the funeral home. Arrangements will be handled by Neal’s
Funeral Home, Osgood.
Leado Lewis
Leado Lewis, 44, of Holton, died Friday, November 4, 2005
as the result of an auto accident. She was born June 29,
1961 in Batesville, the daughter of Floyd M. and Ruby (Short)
Spurlock and they survive. She married Gary Eugene Lewis
on January 3, 1981, and he survives.
Survivors also include son Gary Eugene Lewis, Jr.; daughter
Amanda Nichole Lewis and husband James Huff of Osgood; brothers
Curtiss Spurlock of Greensburg; Alex Spurlock of Osgood;
Genevia Hoadland of Madison; Mary Dall of Versailles; Gracie
Byrd of Milan; grandchild Cierra Lynne Huff and several nieces
and nephews.
Mrs. Lewis was an employee of Delta Faucet in Greensburg.
Funeral services were today, November 8, 2005 at 10:00 a.m.
at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Burial was
at the Little Memory Cemetery north of Sunman.

Anna Mae Flodder
Anna Mae Flodder, 79, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, October 29, at Hospitality
Hall in Batesville. She was born June 30, 1926 in Oldenburg, the daughter of
Bernard and Barbara Herbert Paul, and they preceded her in death. She married
Robert Flodder on February 26, 1949 at Holy Family Church in Oldenburg and
he survives.
Survivors also include daughters Diana Belter of Sunman and Roberta Siebert of
Batesville; sons Bernard, Terry, Timothy and George of Batesville; sisters Mary
Stahley of Sunman; Helen Nunlist of Oldenburg; Virginia Hummell of Moores Hill;
brother Melvin Paul of Oldenburg; 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sister Dorothy King and brothers Francis, Robert
and Jerome.
Mrs. Flodder was a homemaker and a member of the St. Louis Church and St. Louis
Ladies Society.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the St. Louis
Church in Batesville with Rev. Gregory Bramlage officiating. Burial will be at
the St. Louis Cemetery.

Arthur E. Taul
Arthur E. Taul, 80, of Aurora, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at VA Medical
Center in Cincinnati, OH. He was born December 2, 1924 in Farmers Retreat the
son of Ernest Taul and Ida Fischvogt, both deceased.
Survivors include one daughter, Denise Ann (Taul) Taul of Ludlow, KY; two sons,
Larry A. Taul of Aurora and Robert L. Taul of Aurora; fiancÈe, Lydia Amm
of Aurora; one brother, Howard Taul of Mountain Home, AR; one sister, Mabel Hewitt
of Versailles; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Kathleen Taul.
Mr. Taul was a maintenance worker. He retired from Dearborn County Hospital and
was an Army veteran of WWII.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29, at St. John’s Lutheran
Church in Farmers Retreat.
Burial was in the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Memorials may go to the First
Baptist Church of Dillsboro or the Lawrenceburg Life Squad.

Clyde E. Given
Clyde E. Given, 100, of Oldenburg, died Wednesday, October 26, 2005 at The Waters
of Batesville. He was born July 31, 1905 in Florence the son of Frank Given
and Flora (Knaus) Given, both deceased. He married Marion (Asher) Given on
August 25, 1945 in Cincinnati, OH and she preceded him in death on January
27, 1983.
Survivors include one daughter, Sally Raver of Batesville and one granddaughter,
Gina Niese of Kearney, NA. He was preceded in death by one sister, Margaret Given.
Mr. Given was a factory worker for Seagram’s Distillery in Lawrenceburg
for 35 years before retiring. He was a WWII Army veteran and a member of the
Batesville Golden Citizens Club and the Seagram’s Retired Employees Association.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 29 at 11 a.m. at Weigel Funeral
Home in Batesville with Rev. Jeremy Russell officiating.
Burial was in the Vevay Cemetery with Rev. Ronald Sandidge officiating. Memorials
may go to the Emanuel Lutheran Church in Lawrenceburg.
Gary R. “Gramps” Nobbe
Gary R. “Gramps” Nobbe, 49, died Saturday, October 29, 2005 at
Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. He was born January 2, 1956 in
Batesville,
the son of Werner Nobbe who preceded him in death, and mother Mary Stolz Volz
who survives. Survivors also include step-father, Harry Volz; sister Belinda
Brown, Batesville; brothers Ken, Doug, Cliff, Tom and Bill, all of Oldenburg
and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mr. Nobbe was a warehouse attendant for Woodmizer Products in New Point for 22
years. He was a member of Eagle Fire Co. and the Knights of St. John Oldenburg
Commandry.
Visitation is Wednesday, November 2 from 1-2:30 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home,
151 W. George Street in Batesville. Funeral services will be Wednesday, November
2 at 3:00 p.m. at the Holy Family Church in Oldenburg with Rev. Humbert Moster,
O.F.M. officiating.
Burial will be in the Holy Family Cemetery in Oldenburg. Memorials may be given

John P. Everage
John P. Everage, 76, of Louisville, KY, formerly of Versailles passed away Thursday,
October 27, 2005 at the VA Medical Center in Louisville. He was born at Hindman
in Knott County, Kentucky on July 13, 1929, the son of Aster and Polly Ann
Morgan Everage. He was married to Eva Wilson on January 22, 1954 and she survives.
Survivors include three sons John C. Everage and his wife Krista of Santa Monica,
CA; Brad and Susan of Simpsonville, KY; and Chad and Kelly of Louisville, KY;
three daughters Wendy Neill of Cincinnati, OH; Michelle Crawford and her husband
Gene of Louisville, KY; and Tracey Schutte and her husband Mike of Charlotte,
NC; 12 grandchildren; two brothers Carter Everage and his wife Grace of Milan
and R.C. Everage and his wife Reva of FL; and sister Elaine Kemker of Milan.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one sister.
Mr. Everage was a 1947 graduate of Versailles High School and a 1951 graduate
of Purdue University. He served as a fighter pilot in the Air Force during Korea
and also taught basic and advanced pilot training. He received the Korean Service
Medal, United Nations Service Medal, Air Medal, and the National Defense Service
Medal.
Mr. Everage was a former high school teacher at Versailles and was a former office
manager of the Production Credit Association office in Versailles. He served
as vice-president of the Federal Intermediate Credit Bank of Louisville for 16
years and with his wife had owned and operated the Court House Inn in Versailles.
He was a member of the Versailles American Legion.
Funereal services were held Monday, October 31 at the Versailles Baptist Church
with Rev. Mark Walker officiating. Burial was in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles
with military graveside rites by the Versailles American Legion.
Memorials may be given to the Versailles American Legion or the Cliff Hill Cemetery
in care of the funeral home. Stratton Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles was
in charge of arrangements.
Thomas H. “Tom” Short
Thomas H. “Tom” Short, 34, of Louisville, KY, passed away Saturday,
October 29, 2005 at his residence. He was the son of Richard H. Short who preceded
him in death, and mother Carolyn who survives.
Mr. Short’s brother, Samuel H. Short also survives.
He was a native of Louisville, a chef at Masterson’s Restaurant and a member
of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 2 at 10:00 a.m. at the Highlands
Family-Owned Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road in Louisville. There will be
a graveside service on Wednesday, November 2 at approximately 1:30 p.m. at the
Stringtown Cemetery on County Road 200 North, southwest of Milan.
Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Louisville Chapter of the National
Alliance Mental Illness or to his church.
