Burley Gibson
Burley Gibson, 88, of Milan, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 at St. Andrew’s Health Campus in Batesville. He was born February 20, 1917 in Bear Branch, KY,the son of David and Sally West Gibson, both deceased. He married Malkie Vera Combs in November 1941, and she preceded him in death on July 8, 2005.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Joyce and Richard of Westport; Patty and Marvin Ludeker of Milan; Jean and Scott Prather of Versailles; and, Joan and John Kuhlman of Batesville; brother Jim Gibson of London, KY; sisters Mildred Ledford and Allie Norton of Hamilton, OH; Laura Hamm of Norwood, OH; and Bertha Begley of Hyden, KY; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sister Sophia Stevenson and brother Lawton Gibson.
Mr. Gibson a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a former employee of Schenleys Distillers and Fernald, then retired from the Milan Community School System. He was a member of the Milan F&AM #31 Masonic Lodge, the Electa Chapter of the Eastern Star and the Milan American Legion Post #235.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21 from 5-8:00 p.m., at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with special services by Eastern Star and Masonic Services by Milan Lodge #31. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 22 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be at the Craven Cemetery in Milan with graveside military rites.
Memorials may be given to Milan Rescue 30, Milan Fire Department or Ripley County Cancer Fund.

David Sandlin
David Sandlin, 71, of East Enterprise, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2005 at his residence. He was born October 4, 1934 in Clay, KY, the son of George and Ida Simms Sandlin, both deceased. He married Mary Sandlin of Vevay and she survives.
Survivors also include sons James, John, Tony and Raymond; brothers Ted, Daniel, Billy and Ferris; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Sandlin owned the S&S Grocery Store in East Enterprise for many years.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 17, at Ulrich Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Burial was at Mt. Carmel Cemetery, Aberdeen.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Lawrenceburg.

Donald Lee Higdon
Donald Lee Higdon, 72, of Dillsboro, passed away Friday, December 16, 2005 at the Waters of Dillsboro Manor, Dillsboro. He was born April 8, 1933 in Dearborn County, the son of Thomas and Katherine McLaughlin Higdon, both deceased.
Mr. Higdon’s aunt, Mrs. Alberta Berry of Moores Hill survives.
Brother Billy Joe Higdon preceded him in death.
Mr. Higdon worked at New Horizons in Batesville.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, December 20 from 2-5:00 p.m., at Filter Funeral Home, 310 Fourth Street, Aurora. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 21 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Aurora.

Emma Margaret Claflin Davis
Emma Margaret Claflin Davis, 90, of Hanover, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005 at Thornton Terrace Health Campus, Hanover. She was born October 9, 1915 in Madison, the daughter of George Oscar and Emma Anna Warner Claflin, both deceased. She married Harold L. “Beano” Davis on February 5, 1938 in Madison, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Nancy and husband Aaron McDonald of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; and Mary Anne Potter of Hanover; granddaughter Victoria and husband Joseph Cottle of Greenville, SC; brothers Daniel and wife Joann Claflin of Madison; and Robert Claflin of Madison; one great-granddaughter; several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by sisters Alma Ricketts and Nellie Claflin.
Mrs. Davis was a 1933 graduate of Madison High School and was the valedictorian and winner of the Custer Oratorical Contest. She attended St. Mary’s Business School, receiving her degree in bookkeeping and accounting and many awards of excellence. Mrs. Davis worked at the Clifty Inn, Joe Baby Eckerts Family Business, Jefferson County & Madison Tobacco Markets and the Madison Jefferson County Public Library. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church which then became Prince of Peace Parish. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Parish, the Altar Society and the Legion of Mary.
Funeral services will be today, December 20 at 11:00 a.m. at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Rev. John Fink officiating. Burial will be at Springdale Cemetery in Madison. Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison is in charge of arrangements.

Larry Ball
Larry Ball, 56, of Hooven, OH, formerly of Moores Hill, passed away at his residence. He was born September 6, 1949 in Shelbyville, the son of Seldon and Berdina Rodmaker Ball, both deceased.
Survivors include son David W. (Tracey) Ball of Moores Hill; daughter Teresa Ann Morgan of West Harrison and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Lonnie Ball.
Mr. Ball was a laborer with Union Local #265 and a former employee of Fernald. He was a member of the Addyston Baptist Church, Laborers Union #265 and the Aurora Moose Lodge.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 22 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Tom Fehrman officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill.

Leo B. Kesterman
Leo B. Kesterman, 91, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005 at the Waters of Batesville, Batesville. He was born October 22, 1914 in Millhousen, the son of Herman and Rosa Foster Kesterman, both deceased. He married Evelyn Wiwi on June 9, 1948 in St. Peters, and she survives.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Kesterman was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a retired carpenter/builder and the owner of Kesterman Builders. Mr. Kesterman was a member of St. Peters Church, New Alsace Post #452 American Legion, Council #1461 Knights of Columbus Batesville, 4th Degree Knights, VFW Post in Brookville and the Knights of St. John in Millhousen.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, December 20 from 4-8:00 p.m., at Cook Funeral Home, 107 Vine Street, Sunman with Rosary Service at 3:45 and American Legion Prayer Service at 5:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be on Wednesday, December 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church with Rev. Humbert Moster officiating. Burial will be at the St. Peters Cemetery.

Loren L. Jividen
Loren L. Jividen, 80, of Vevay, passed away Friday, December 16, 2005 at Fort Hamilton Hospital, Hamilton, OH. He was born October 31, 1925 in Vevay, the son of Chester and Annie Croxton Jividen, both deceased. He married Aldean Scott Jividen of Vevay on September 18, 1950, and she survives.
Survivors also include son Jeffrey of Vevay; daughters Gloria Baker of Okeana, OH; Cynthia Jones of Hamilton, OH; and Anita and husband Bobby Rabe of Vevay; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Jividen was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII receiving the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon with three bronze stars, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with one bronze star, Good Conduct Ribbon and the WWII Victory Medal. He also served during the Korean War. Mr. Jividen worked at the Mobile Chemical Company in Cincinnati, OH, for 40 years. He was a member of the Union Baptist Church at Lamb.
Visitation will be today, Tuesday, December 20 from 5-7:00 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Brother Leon Peelman officiating. Burial will be at the Vevay Cemetery with a graveside flag presentation by the Vevay American Legion Post 185 and Vevay VFW Post 5396.

Rev. James David “Jim” Goble
The Rev. James David “Jim” Goble, 70, of South Commiskey, passed away Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Hickory Creek of Madison. He was born January 31, 1935 in West Van Lear Junction, KY, the son of Estel C. and Lorinda Auxier Goble, both deceased. He married Sara Delano McEndre of Commiskey on May 16, 1954, and she survives.
Survivors also include sons James Michael of Clarksville; David Wayne and William Howard of Commiskey; brother William Nelson of Banner Elk, NC; four grandchildren; two nieces; one nephew; many cousins and other relatives.
Rev. Goble graduated from Madison High School in 1953. He attended the California Baptist College in Riverside, CA, the Azusa State College in Azusa, CA, and the Southern Baptist Seminary in Louisville, KY. He was active in the Boy Scouts of America, receiving the honor of Eagle Scout and “The Silver Beaver.” Rev. Goble was a founding member of the Madison Jaycees. He became an ordained Minister in June, 1963. Rev. Goble began his ministry pastoring the deaf. He then pastored at various churches including New Marion Baptist Church. He was a volunteer chaplain at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison for 30 years.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 17, at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison with Rev. Leon Turner and Rev. John Beck officiating. Burial was at the New Prospect Cemetery, Hanover.

Ray C. Vinup, Sr.
Ray C. Vinup, Sr., 67, of Milan, passed away Sunday, December 18, 2005 at Mercy Hospital in Western Hills. He was born March 8, 1938 in Milan, the son of Ralph Ray and Leona Marie Pieper, both deceased. He married Dora Jean Sheldon on April 28, 1956, and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Ray, Jr. and wife Ada Jane of Milan; and Fred and wife Penny of Milan; brothers James of Dillsboro; William of Farmers Retreat; and Russell of Harrison, OH; sisters Joyce Hoover of Harrison, OH; and Irene Vinup of Milan; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Mr. Vinup served in the Indiana National Guard. He was a supervisor for the Nutone Corp. in Cincinnati for 36 years. Mr. Vinup was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church at Milan and the Eagles Lodge at Greensburg.
Visitation will be Thursday, December 22 from 6-8:00 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan. Funeral services will be Friday, December 23 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be at the Craven Cemetery in Milan.
Memorials may be given to the Milan Volunteer Fire Department.

Voyd Hicks
Voyd Hicks, 85, of West Harrison, passed away Saturday, December 17, 2005 in Cincinnati. He married Ruby Robinson Hicks and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Virgil and wife Beatrice Hicks of Batesville; Curt, Sr. and wife Alice Hicks of Versailles; daughter Phyllis and husband Steve Horstman of West Harrison; brothers Alfred of Port Charlotte, FL; and Clyde of Clay County, KY; sisters Paulina Houston of Batesville; Vergie Cowens of Clay County, KY; Viola Johnson of Bright; and Eunice Bunner of New Castle; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers Monroe and Lee, and sister Matilda Hall.
Mr. Hicks was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a farmer, and he retired in 1982 from the U.S. Shoe Factory. Mr. Hicks was a member of the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21 from 5-8:00 p.m., at the Jackman Kercheval Myers Funeral Home in Harrison, OH. Burial will be at the Gibson Cemetery in Bright with graveside military rites by Harrison Funeral Detail.
Memorials may be given to the Harrison VFW.

William L. “Bill” Orwig
William L. “Bill” Orwig, 63, of Greenwood, died Friday, December 16, 2005.

Darrell Ray Cassidy
Darrell Ray Cassidy, 43, of West Dupont, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2005, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born June 17, 1962 in Madison, the son of Beatrice B. Cassidy Goins, and she survives.
Survivors also include son Darrell Franklin “Frankie” Cassidy of Madison; daughter Amanda Gail Cassidy of Madison; brothers and sister-in-law Dallas “Randy” and Rebecca Cassidy of Texas and Doug Cassidy of Madison; nieces Bethany and Nesha Cassidy; several cousins and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Frank P. and Bertha Frances Klotzsche Cassidy.
Mr. Cassidy was a graduate of Southwestern High School. He married Margie G. Jenkins on September 4, 1982. Mr. Cassidy had worked as a manager for Country Wood Estates in Versailles and then at Dover Place Apartments in Madison. He was a member of the Wirt Baptist Church.
Funeral services were Monday, December 12, 2005, at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home with Rev. Troy Hedges officiating. Burial was at the Dupont Cemetery, Dupont.

Donald Graves
Donald Graves, 76, of Rising Sun, passed away Monday, December 5, 2005, at The Waters of Rising Sun. He was born April 11, 1929 in Aurora, the son of Henry and Etta McMillian Graves, both deceased.
Surviving is his sister Henrietta De Pauli of Pompano Beach, FL.
Mr. Graves was an upholsterer.

Donald L. Pickering
Donald L. Pickering, 87, of Milan, died Sunday, December 11, 2005, at University Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. He was born April 14, 1918 in Deer Park, OH, the son of Frank M. and Elizabeth (Bowen) Pickering, both deceased. He married Mary Beatrice (Dorsey) Pickering on April 5, 1941, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons Timothy of Cincinnati, OH; Daniel Allen and wife Kayla of Florida; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Donald Lee Pickering, Jr. and brother Chester.
Mr. Pickering was a US Army veteran of WWII. He was a retired supervisor from CG&E and worked for Ron Myers Marathon after retirement. Mr. Pickering was a member of the First Milan Baptist Church, Norwood, OH, F&AM Lodge 671; Milan Legion Post 235, the Tri-City Bowling League, and was the Chaplain for Milan VFW Post 6234. He was a former member of the Milan Park Board, and was active in the Milan Economic Development Corporation.
Visitation will be on Thursday, December 15 from 4-7:00 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, South Main Street, Milan. Masonic services will be conducted Thursday, December 15 at 6:45 p.m. by Milan F&AM #31. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Milan First Baptist Church with Pastor Harris Long officiating. Military rites will be performed graveside at the German Lutheran Cemetery, Milan.

Douglas William Schultz
Douglas William Schultz, 48, of Maderia Beach, FL, formerly of Moores Hill, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at his residence. He was born August 16, 1957 in Batesville, the son of Bill and Barbara Schultz. His father preceded him in death. He married Sally Schultz and she survives.
Other survivors include his mother, Barbara Astarita of St. Petersburg, FL; son and daughter-in-law Greg and Dawn Schultz; sisters Vicki Bryant of Osgood; Susan Lombards and Beverly Anderson of Williamsburg, KY; Lisa Schmidt of Spring Hill, FL; Cathy Barnes and Monica Vizcauno of St. Petersburg, FL; brother Joshua Astarita of St. Petersburg, FL; grandchildren Logan and McKenzie; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Cecil and Pauline Schultz; and maternal grandparents Charles Stout and Florence Fowler.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 9 at the Reese Funeral Home in Seminole, FL.

Edna Miller
Edna Miller, 78, of New Alsace, died Thursday, December 10, 2005, in Miamitown, OH. She was born February 17, 1927 in Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Robert and Laura Woody Rose, both deceased. She married Aaron C. Miller, and he preceded her in death on April 13, 2005.
Survivors include daughters Sharon Shackelford of Greenwood; Marlene Wullenweber of Miamitown, OH; and Jayne Weber of St. Leon; sons Eddie of Danville; Mike of Fairfield, OH; and Donnie of Milan; 14 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers Jack and Carl Rose.
Mrs. Miller was a wife and mother. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church in New Alsace.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 10 at St. Paul Catholic Church with Rev. Harold W. Rightor officiating. Burial was at the St. Paul Church Cemetery.

Jason Alan Hall
Jason Alan Hall, 32, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born December 29, 1972 in Madison, the son of Barry A. and Sandy Banta Hall. His father preceded him in death on February 7, 2003. He married Christy Rene Shelton on April 19, 1998 in Key West, FL, and she survives.
Survivors also include his mother, Sandy Banta Hall of Madison; daughter Caitlin Rene; maternal grandparents Sanford and Ruby Banta of Madison; mother-in-law Martha Shelton Hall of Madison; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Jennifer and Don Bennett of Madison; uncles and aunts Milton and Rhonda Hall of Milton, KY; Marvin “Butch” and Jane Hall of Knoxville, TN; and Sue and Tommy Wynn of Hanover; one niece and three nephews; several great-aunts and cousins.
He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Milton A. and Mary Ethel Meredith Hall; aunt Joyce Whittington and uncle Robert Hall.
Mr. Hall was a 1991 graduate of Southwestern High School. After graduation he attended Indiana University. Mr. Hall was the owner and operator of Hall’s Carpet Plus Color Tile in Madison, previously owned by his father. He was a member of the Madison Builders Association, the Jefferson County Men’s Association serving as president, Ducks Unlimited, Quail Unlimited, Madison Business Professional Association, past member of the Madison Area Chamber of Commerce, and the North Pointe Community Church in Alpharetta, GA.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 10 at the North Madison Christian Church with Rev. Mark Thomas and Brother Bob Hicks officiating. Burial was at the Moffett Cemetery in Milton, KY.

Lawrence Harry
Wessel

Lawrence Harry Wessel, 88, of Batesville, passed away Friday, December 9, 2005, at his residence. He was born June 11, 1917 in Franklin County, the son of William A. and Selma (Belter) Wessel, both deceased. He married Roselyn Kuntz on June 22, 1946 and she survives.
Survivors also include sons David and Kevin of Batesville; daughters Lucy Mikula and Mary Hornbach of Indianapolis; Donna Wietlisbach and Lorraine Hampson of Batesville; and Jane Scheidler of Millhousen; brother Alvin Wessel of Greensburg; 24 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brother Orville and sister Mildred Orr.
Mr. Wessel was a farmer. He was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and the Franklin County Farm Bureau.
Funeral services were Monday, December 12, 2005 at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville with Rev. David Johnston officiating. Burial was at the St. Louis Church Cemetery.

Murrell F. Meyers
Murrell F. Meyers, 76, of Dillsboro, died Wednesday, December 7, 2005, at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. He was born August 18, 1929 in Dillsboro, the son of Frederick and Frederica Mathias Meyers, both deceased. He married Nora E. Harrison, and she survives.
Other survivors include sons Mark and Michael of Dillsboro; daughters Jane Ohlmansik of Dillsboro and Janet Beetz of Milan; sister Mildred Ashcraft; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. Meyers was an equipment operator.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 10 at Dillsboro United Methodist Church. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro.

Norma E. Ryker Scott
Norma E. Ryker Scott, 87, of Cross Plains passed away Sunday, December 11, 2005 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. Funeral arrangements by Vail-Holt Funeral Homes in Madison are pending.

Thomas Joseph
Middendorf

Thomas Joseph Middendorf, 44, of Sunman, passed away Friday, December 9, 2005, at his residence. He was born October 27, 1961 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of James and Delores (Hudson) Middendorf and they survive. He married Marguerite Koeppe on February 14, 1987 and she survives.
Survivors also include son Nicholas; and daughters Katie and Anna; brothers James of Hamilton, OH; and Steven of Cincinnati, OH; sisters Michele Gilday of West Harrison; and Melissa Perleberg of Cedar Grove.
He was preceded in death by brother Kenneth Middendorf.
Mr. Middendorf worked in construction. He was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church.
Visitation will be today, December 13, 2005 from 5-8:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, 500 W. Pearl Street, Batesville. The mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, December 14, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Morris with Msgr. Bernard Schmitz officiating. Daniel L. “Danny” Berry
Daniel L. “Danny” Berry, 46, of Madison, died Friday, December 2, 2005 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born March 28, 1959 in Milan, the son Otis and Gladys Sumpter Berry, both deceased. He married Renee McDarment and she survives.
Other survivors include daughter Alicia Dawn Berry of Bloomington; son Zachary Berry of Madison; stepdaughter and son-in-law Amanda and Burl Fennig of Madison; stepson and stepdaughter Corey and Emily McDarment of Madison; sister and brother-in-law Phyllis Sue and Don Combs of Ft. Meyers, FL; brothers and sisters-in-law William and Carol of Cross Plains; Ronald and Margot of Madison; and, Robert and Joyce of New Marion; two step-grandchildren; father and mother-in-law; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by stepson Andrew Herald; and brother David Berry.
Mr. Berry was a U.S. Army veteran. He was employed as a concrete truck driver, a laborer with the Labor Union in New Albany and then with Operating Engineers Local 181 in Louisville, KY as a crane operator. He was a member of the Dupont Coon Hunters Club.
Funeral services are today, Tuesday, December 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home, 325 Demaree Drive, Madison, with Pastor Jason Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Grandview Gardens, Madison.

Gloria Ruth Blake
Gloria Ruth Blake, 85, of Indianapolis, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born November 12, 1920 in Ripley County the daughter of William and Lula Starkey Moody, both deceased. She married Cleo Harold Blake on March 10, 1961 at the Osgood Christian Church and he survives.
Other survivors include one sister, Wilma Lucille Day of Osgood and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Garnet and Francis Moody and Robert Reynolds; three sisters, Violet Moody McKown, Naomi Reynolds Brunner and Patricia Reynolds Olds; and two stepsisters, Virginia Reynolds and Alvena Reynolds Wooley.
Mrs. Blake was a member of the Osgood Christian Church for over 70 years and was presently a member of the New Testament Christian Church in Osgood. She had worked for the Ford Motor Co. in Ypsilanti, MI during WWII and was also a past employee of Thompson Industries of North Vernon. She had also worked for Bohn Aluminum in Greensburg, owned and operated Vie’s Restaurant in Osgood and had worked for RCA in Indianapolis.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 3, 11 a.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood.
Burial was in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may go to the New Testament Christian Church c/o the funeral home.

Iralue Atkinson
Iralue Atkinson, 82, of Dillsboro died Sunday, December 4, 2005 at the Waters of Dillsboro Manor, Dillsboro. She was born December 9, 1922 in Monticello, KY, the daughter of Mones and Mary Owens Peercy, both deceased. She married Jesse Atkinson and he survives.
Survivors also include sons Jesse, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL; Dennis of Mooresville; and, Michael of Indianapolis; daughters Barbara Bruce of Dillsboro and Leatha Tudor of Dillsboro; sister, Mary Floyd of Elkton, KY; 16 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Doris and brother William Peercy.
Mrs. Atkinson was a homemaker.
Visitation is today, Tuesday, December 6, 2005 from 5-8:00 p.m. at the Ulrich Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 7, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ulrich Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Burial will be at the Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Parkinson’s Research.

Jack M. Eaglin
Jack M. Eaglin, 84, of Madison, died Friday, December 2, 2005, at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. He was born June 1, 1921 in Madison, the son of Charles and Sarah Jane Melton Eaglin, both deceased. He married Laura Sherman on February 18, 1941 and she preceded him in death on April 21, 1996.
Survivors include daughters and sons-in-law Linda and Jim Lohrig of Madison; Patricia and Clarence Wullenweber, Jr. of Commiskey; Marcella and Bill Brierly of Madison; Marilyn and Rick Imel of Madison; sons and daughters-in-law Wade Eaglin of Madison; Dr. Roy Eaglin of Madison; Fred of Granite City, IL; Vince of Madison; Karl and Sharon of Madison; Monte and Tina of Canaan; Myron and Kim of Madison; 20 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by grandson Anthony; brothers Leonard and Oliver; sisters Edith Bea Sailor and Grace Purtlebaugh Smoot.
Mr. Eaglin was a 1940 graduate of Madison High School. He joined the Indiana National Guard at age 16, serving for 3 1/2 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, rising to the rank of Staff Sergeant. He received the American Defense Ribbon, Good Conduct Ribbon, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, two Bronze Service Stars, EAME Theater Ribbon with two Bronze Stars, American Theatre Ribbon and WWII Defense Service Medal. He worked at the Williamson Heater Co. and then Indiana Kentucky Electric Corp. He was a member of the Jefferson County Republican Party serving as precinct committeeman, the Prince of Peace Catholic Church, American Legion Jefferson Post 9, and a past member of the Knights of Columbus.
Funeral services were held Monday, December 5, 2005 at Morgan-Webster-Nay Funeral Home in Madison with Rev. John A. Meyer officiating. Full military rites were conducted at the graveside by the American Legion Jefferson Post 9 at Manville Cemetery.

Jeramiah Allen Eugene Acton
Jeramiah Allen Eugene Acton, infant son of Justin Jeremy Allen Acton and Stacie Lee Young, died November 30, 2005, at 8:08 p.m. at Columbus Regional Hospital.
Survivors include his parents; a sister, Hannah Young; paternal grandparents Richard and Andrea Acton of North Vernon; maternal grandparents Sherry and Tony Mayberry of Holton; great-grandparents Avis and Ellis Acton of North Vernon and Geraldine Houston of Delaware; Linda Mae Mayberry and Leroy Eugene Mayberry of Holton; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Baby Jeramiah was preceded in death by his grandparents Darrell Young, Mary Young and Blanton Kurlin; great-grandparents Hubert Acton, Jewell Ross, Leon Ross, David Earl and John Houston.
Graveside services were held Saturday, December 3, at Vernon Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Brown officiating.
Memorials may be made to the family. Arrangements were by Pickett Funeral Home of North Vernon.

Jeremiah Ray
(Jeremy) Ludeker

Jeremiah Ray (Jeremy) Ludeker, 27, of Burlington, KY, formerly of Milan, died Wednesday, November 30, 2005 in Burlington. He was born November 17, 1978 in Dearborn County the son of Kendall L. Ludeker and Renee (Bergman) Ramig.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Kendall and Wanda Ludeker of Milan; mother and stepfather, Renee and Mike Ramig of Milan; paternal grandmother, Dolores Ludeker of Milan; paternal step-grandmother, Margaret Daulton of Milan; maternal grandparents, Ray and Elaine Bergman of Batesville; maternal step-grandparents, Marvin and Marlyce Ramig of Nebraska; one brother, Joshua Ludeker of Burlington, KY; two stepbrothers, Mark Johnson of Brookville and Eric Ramig of Boulder, CO; three stepsisters, Amanda Reams of Milan, Nichole Ramig of Bloomington, Ashley Ramig of Evansville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins including Olivia Ludeker.
Mr. Ludeker worked as a bartender for Damon’s Airport Bar & Grill. He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Milan and was a 1997 graduate of Milan High School. He attended Vincennes University from 1998-2000 and Northern Kentucky University in 2001.
Funeral services were held Sunday, December 4, 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church, north of Milan, with Pastor Richard Mackey officiating.
Burial was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery. Memorials may go to the donor’s choice.

Raymond Anthony Prestel, Sr.
Raymond Anthony Prestel, Sr., 63, of Versailles, formerly of Powell’s Crossroads, TN, died Thursday, December 1, 2005. He was the son of Leroy and Wilma Prestel of Dayton, OH, and they survive. He married Patricia Gray and she also survives.
Survivors also include son and daughter-in-law Raymond, Jr. and Carolyn of Whitwell, TN; daughter and son-in-law Kimberly and Richard Layne of Dunlap, TN; stepchildren Randell Slayback of Versailles and Terry Esselborn of Aurora; sister Barbara Beasley of South Carolina; stepsisters Sandy Prestel and Teresa Daniels of Ohio; four grandchildren and 11 step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by daughter Tina Marie and sisters Donna Schneiber and Rose Heygi.
Mr. Prestel was retired from the U.S. Army and Navy and the TVA.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, December 6 at 10:00 a.m. at the Whitwell Memorial Funeral Home, Whitwell, TN with Rev. Billy Ralph Layne officiating. Burial will be at the Chattanooga National Cemetery, TN.

Thelma E. Damon
Thelma E. Damon, 92, of Dillsboro, died Thursday, December 1, 2005 at the Waters of Dillsboro Manor, Dillsboro. She was born March 20, 1913, the daughter of William and Lola Jackson Richason, both deceased. She married Erivn Damon and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include son Larry Damon; daughter Judy Goodman; brother Robert Richason and sister Mildred “Midge” Barton; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by sisters Elsie Cook and Margie Potter.
Mrs. Damon was a grocery store owner.
Funeral services were Monday, December 5, 2005 at Ulrich Filter Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Burial was at the Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro.
Memorials may be given to Hopewell Presbyterian Church or the Dillsboro Life Squad.
