JCD receives IHSAA award

At the regular meeting of the JCD School Board
of Trustees, held January 17, Principal Ray Ratledge announced
that the school would be receiving the IHSAA Sportsmanship
Award for 2004-2005 during the basketball game on Saturday,
January 21.
Ray Craft, Associate Commissioner of the IHSAA, was scheduled
to present the banner to proudly hang in the gymnasium. Ratledge
congratulated the coaching staff, the administration and especially
the student athletes for this outstanding achievement.
Fifth grade teacher Goldy Conley will retire at the end of
the school year. She started at JCD in 1983. Lynn Davis will
also retire this year. She currently is a language pathologist
for all 12 grades. She also began her teaching career at JCD
in 1983. Stefanie Kelly resigned as a special education teacher.
Gerry Linarducci, Semier Financial Group, discussed the impact
of financing further education after high school for students
and families, He said further education needs to be started
while the students are in elementary school. He has several
ideas and would like to share them with students and families.
Linarducci will meet with Superintendent Bill Narwold to discuss
his ideas.
Corporation Treasurer Ruth Ann Peetz received $6,101.00 from
the Commercial Vehicles Excise Tax and $21,843.50 from the
Financial Institution Tax through the Ripley County Treasurer.
The final property tax draw for 2005 of $862,709.16 was received
on December 30. Peetz said this is the first year since reassessment,
four years ago, that all tax dollars were received within the
taxed year.
David Meister was named chairman of the scholarship committee.
Permission was given to advertise quotes for the purchase of
three 66-passenger school buses.
All five members of the board were present: Kathleen Dickman,
Deanna Young, Charles Hughes, Paul Hardy and John Billman.
The next regular meeting of the Jac-Cen-Del Board of Trustees
will be held on Tuesday, February 21, in the Jac-Cen-Del Elementary
School Library at 6:00 p.m.
