Adele E. Fehrman
Adele E. Fehrman, 85, of Oldenburg, passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at St. Andrews Health Campus, Batesville. She was born May 12, 1920 in Oldenburg, the daughter of Bernard and Elizabeth Meer Struewing, both deceased. She married Sylvester M. Kellerman on August 19, 1939 and he preceded her in death on April 7, 1945. She later married William F. Fehrman on May 10, 1947 and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1986.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law John and Vicki Kellerman, and Dan and Pat Fehrman of Batesville; Bob and Mareta Fehrman of Greensburg; daughters and sons-in-law Charlotte and Albert Heppner of Oldenburg; Peg Weber of Bowling Green, KY; and Becky and Rod Gaskill of Dallas, TX; sisters Martha Hoelker and Bernie Meyer of Oldenburg; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by brother Clarence Struewing and sisters Laurene and Norma Raver.
Mrs. Fehrman owned and operated Fehrman’s Liquor Store and Fehrman Apartments. She was a member of Holy Family Church and its Ladies Society, the Legion of Mary and the Golden Villagers.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, January 26 from 4-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 6:00, at the Weigel Funeral Home, 151 W. George Street, Batesville. Funeral services will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church, Oldenburg, Friday, January 27 at 10:00 a.m. with Rev. Benno Heidlage, O.F.M. officiating. Burial will be at the Holy Family Cemetery in Oldenburg.
Memorials may be given to Hospice of Margaret Mary Community Hospital or to Batesville E.M.S. 10.

James Keith Young
James Keith Young, 13, of North Vernon, passed away Monday, January 23, 2006 at Kosair Children’s Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born April 30, 1992 in Columbus, the son of Keith Young and Sharon Holwager Tice and they survive.
Survivors also include brothers Derek and Seth Young, and Theodore Tice; sisters Shyann Young, Donna Jean and Andrea Tice; stepmother Dianna Young; stepfather Andrew Tice; grandparents James and Cathy Holwager; Pauline and Lewis Pate; Edward and Betty Young; and, Ted and Donna Tice.
He was preceded in death by grandparents Lawrence and Barbara Kelly.
James was a seventh-grader at Jennings County Middle School since September 2005. He previously attended South Ripley Schools. James enjoyed bicycles, playing with friends, video games, fishing and writing. He had walked the past three years in support of the Ripley County Alzheimers Unit. James was a very giving young man.
Visitation will be Friday, January 27 from 2-8:00 p.m. at the Pickett Funeral Home in North Vernon. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Ramey officiating. Burial will be at Vernon Cemetery.

Kenneth N. Morris
Kenneth N. Morris, 71, of Versailles passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Waters of Batesville. He was born near Holton on June 26, 1934 the son of Albert and Ruth Smith Morris. He was married to Ada Mathias on December 22, 1957 and she preceded him in death on August 25, 2005.
Mr. Morris was a 1952 graduate of Versailles High School and graduated with a degree in photojournalism from DePauw University in Greencastle in 1956. After being commissioned in the US Navy, he was assigned to a Pacific Fleet Destroyer and served a tour as Instructor of Destroyer Tactics. Mr. Morris had a long and unusual military career having served in every branch of the Armed Forces. He retired from two branches of the Armed Forces at the rank of Lt. Commander. He had served in the Air Force, Army, Navy, Florida National Guard, and the US Coast Guard. He had formerly been employed with Cummins Engine in Columbus, Teledyne Continental in Detroit, Allis-Chalmers, and International Harvester, both in Chicago.
Survivors include one son Philip Newman Morris and wife Autumn of Pikeville, TN; daughters Elizabeth Ann Saffran and husband Kenneth of Chesterton and Catherine Hamm and husband Duke of Batesville; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild; his mother-in-law Ethel Mathias of Versailles; his brother Paul Morris and wife Barbara of Versailles.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, January 28 at 1:00 p.m. at the Holton Cemetery with Rev. Michael Hendrix of the Tyson United Methodist Church officiating. The Versailles American Legion will give military graveside rites.
Memorials may be given to the Versailles American Legion.

Norman F. Patterson
Norman F. Patterson, 45, of Cincinnati passed away Monday, January 23, 2006 in San Diego.
Survivors include his wife Sharon; daughters Tiffany and Rebekah Patterson; parents Norman L. and Patricia Patterson all of Cincinnati; his brother David Patterson and his wife Sara of Holton; his mother-in-law Dolores Shaffer.
Funeral arrangements will be handled by the Dalbert, Woodruff, and Isenogle Funeral Home in Cincinnati. Burial will be in the Dabney Cemetery.

Betty Stutler, 75, of Milan, died Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at her residence.

Daisy Smith
Daisy Smith, 91, of Batesville, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital, Batesville. She was born December 3, 1914 in Viper, KY, the daughter of William and Lucinda Brashear Cornett, both deceased. She married Daniel W. Smith, and he preceded her in death May 29, 2003.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law William R. and Pam of Clinton, TN; Daniel and Marilyn of Sunman; Joe and Paula of Morris; and Kenneth and Bonny of Milan; daughters and sons-in-law Gertrude and George Ammerman of Sunman; Kathryn and Charley Sroufe of Cincinnati, OH; and Judy Smith and Neil Krandel of Covington, KY; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by several sisters and brothers.
Mrs. Smith was a homemaker and had worked as a cook in the Sunman school system. She was a member of the St. Nicholas church and the Ladies Sodality, the Ladies Home Ec Club, the Auxilia of the Knights of St. John, the National Camper & Hikers Association, and a former 4-H Club leader.
Visitation will be Friday, January 13 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, 107 Vine St., Sunman with Rosary at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be Saturday, January 14 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Church, St. Nicholas, with Rev. James F. Leek
James F. Leek, 74, of Dillsboro, passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born November 21, 1931 in Concord, KY, the son of James and Margaret Feathercowl Leek, both deceased. He married Hazel Leek and she preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughter Brenda Davis of Aurora; sons James, Greg and Darrin all of Lawrenceburg; stepdaughter Kim Goodpaster of Aurora; stepsons Michael Ryan of Cincinnati, OH; James Ryan of Middletown, OH; Jerry Ryan of Manchester; Steve Ryan of Aurora and Donald Ryan of Elrod; sisters Mary Cash and Evelyn Waldon of Lawrenceburg; 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Leek had been a maintenance supervisor at a gravel quarry.

Mitch Eaton, 33, of Napoleon passed away Tuesday, January 10, 2006 at his residence. He was born at Greensburg on June 21, 1972 the son of Gene and Sharon Borders Eaton.
Survivors include his parents Gene and Sharon Eaton of Napoleon; one sister Dee Dee Powers and her husband Steve of Napoleon; his companion Brandi Ahrens Eaton of Napoleon; daughters Hannah and Madelyn Eaton of Napoleon and one son Brandon Eaton of Sandusky; paternal grandmother Mrs. Thelma Eaton of Napoleon; brother-in-law Chad Ahrens of Batesville; Uncles Larry Eaton and his wife Judy of Versailles and Rod Eaton and his wife Shirley of Napoleon; Aunts Betty Mace of Montana and Carolyn Wright of Shelbyville; his Godmother and great-aunt Cora Wright of Greensburg.
Mr. Eaton was a 1991 graduate of Jac-Cen-Del High School and was employed with Johannigman Excavation. He was a member of St. Peter’s United Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Peter’s United Church of Christ at Fink’s Corner near Osgood with Rev. Karyl Leslie officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 pm to 8 pm at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Robert Gordon Elder
Robert Gordon Elder, 89, of Dillsboro, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006 at the Waters of Ross Manor, Dillsboro. He was born November 18, 1916, in Ohio County, the son of William and Maude Helbert Elder, both deceased. He married Evelyn Elder of Dillsboro, and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Dennis of Dillsboro and Richard of Cincinnati, OH; daughter Victoria Elder of Atlanta, GA; brothers Marvey of Greensburg; Bill of Rising Sun; Vernon and Larry of Dillsboro; sisters Elsie Wilding of Jupiter, FL and Mary Opal Scott of Dillsboro.
He was preceded in death by stepson Carroll Housemeyer; brothers James and Wilber; sisters Jessie Smith, Freda Elder and Margaret “Peggy” Baker.
Mr. Elder was the former General Manager of SEI Rural Telephone Coop. He was a 50-year Mason in the Masonic Lodge, and a past member of the American Legion Post.

Warren T. “Pete” Jacobs
Warren T. “Pete” Jacobs, 79, of Florence, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital, Madison. He was born April 5, 1926, in Switzerland County, the son of Joseph and Margaret Walston Jacobs, both deceased. He married Lovena Furnish on June 12, 1947, and she survives.
Survivors also include step-daughter and step-son-in-law Linda and Craig Bond of Patriot; sisters Julia Johnson of Berwyn, IL; Margaret Keith of Lawrenceburg; and Edna Johnson of Tennessee; two grandsons; one great-grandson; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by brothers Estall and Loren Dick Jacobs; sisters Essie Leolo “Dode” Furnish; Wilma “Cindy” Jacobs and Geraldine Mary Crawford.
Mr. Jacobs was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, Bronze Star and the WWII Victory Medal. Mr. Jacobs retired from General Motors in 1992. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, Vevay VFW Post #5396 and the Vevay American Legion Post #185.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, January 12 from 9-11:00 a.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Ada Bell Roland Lock
Ada Bell Roland Lock, 92, of Vevay, passed away Monday, January 2, 2006 at the Swiss Villa Living Center in Vevay. She was born March 28, 1913 in Carroll County, KY, the daughter of Herman and Oma Courtney Roland, both deceased.
Survivors include grandchildren Terry Neal of Tampa, FL; Danny Neal of Pleasantview; Charlene Whitaker of Indianapolis; and Carol Golay of Indianapolis; eight great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by daughter Patricia Ann Bliss Neal; great-great grandson Charles Lewis Carson; and brothers Marvin and Claude Roland.
Mrs. Lock retired from the U.S. Shoe Corporation in 1978. She was a member of the Switzerland Baptist Church and the women’s missionary circle, the Riverview Homemakers Club, and the Bennington Order of Eastern Star #407.
Visitation will be Friday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. until time of funeral services at Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay. The Bennington Order of Eastern Star will conduct services at 12:30 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Howard Wade officiating.

Bobby Offill, 47, of Moores Hill passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2006 at Ivy Woods Care Center, Cincinnati, OH. He was born June 7, 1958 in Cincinnati, OH, the son of Allen Offill and Shirley Wainscott Sizemore and they survive.

Dorothy L. “Dot” Eades
Dorothy L. “Dot” Eades, 76, of Madison, passed away Tuesday, January 3, 2006 at Hanover Nursing Center. She was born July 2, 1929 at Cincinnati, OH, the daughter of Thomas and Blanch Wise Earls, both deceased. She married Gailord Eades on July 27, 1947 in Madison and he survives.
Other survivors include sons Marvin and wife Fran of Madison and Gerald of Anderson; sisters Cleon Roberts of Madison and Ruth Rogers of Bedford; sister-in-law Eva Eades of Canaan; brothers-in-law Ralph Rogers and Jess Roberts of Madison; seven grandchildren; one great great-granddaughter; several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by stepmother Helen Wainscott Earls; stepfather Howard Griffin; brother James Leroy Griffin and nephew Darnell Roberts.
Mrs. Eades was employed as a nursing assistant at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison for 22 years. She attended Ryker’s Ridge Baptist Church.

Elizabeth Ann Urschel, 68, of Dillsboro, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at University Hospital, Cincinnati, OH. She was born November 1, 1937 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Harold, Sr. and Loma Powell Urschel, both deceased. She married Glenn Dougherty and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include brother Dr. Harold Urschel, Jr. of Dallas, TX and sister-in-law Virginia Byers Urschel of Santa Barbara, CA.
Burial was at the Oakgrove Cemetery in Bowling Green, OH. The Ulrich-Filter Funeral Home, Dillsboro, was in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn F. Russell
Evelyn F. Russell, 86, of Milan, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Elrod on November 18, 1919 the daughter of Newton and Florence Stevens Rahe. She was married to William A. Russell and he preceded her in death on February 18, 1971.
Survivors include two sons William Russell of Batesville and Doug Russell of Elrod; daughter Rose Ella Duffy of Ellijay, GA; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grand.
She was preceded in death by her brothers Willard, Alvin, and George Rahe and her sisters Phoebe Lee and Carolyn Dunbar.
Mrs. Russell was a homemaker, had formerly worked at Dillsboro Manor, and was a member of the Washington Baptist Church in Elrod.
Funeral services were held Saturday, December 31, at the Washington Baptist Church in Elrod with Rev. Bruce Fitzsimmons officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Grace L. Schornick
Grace L. Schornick, 90, of Osgood, passed away Monday, January 2, 2006, at Manderley Health Care Center, Osgood. She was born April 20, 1915 in Ripley County, the daughter of Charles and Linnie Custer Myers, both deceased.
Survivors include sons Leon of Farmington, MI and Charles of Osgood; daughters Sue Bunselmeier of Osgood; and Jane of Osgood; brother Melvin Myers of Indianapolis; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Sharon French; sisters Marjorie Myers, Ruth Smith and Mary Lee Nishida; and brother Joseph Myers.
Mrs. Schornick was a member of the Osgood First Baptist Church.
Visitation will be today, Thursday, January 5 from 5-8:00 p.m., at Neal’s Funeral Home, 306 S. Walnut Street, Osgood. Julian Lee Bodkin
Julian Lee Bodkin, 72, of Vevay, passed away Monday, January 2, 2006 at his residence. He was born September 2, 1933 in Shelbyville, KY, the son of Otie Jack and Casper Lee Bodkin, both deceased.
Survivors include daughter Kathy and husband Rick Kelly of Aberdeen; three grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; four step-great grandchildren; sister Doris Kirk of Safford, AZ; companion Shelby Jean Hankins of Vevay and her family.
Mr. Bodkin was a 1951 graduate of Vevay High School. He was a U.S. Army veteran, and received the Good Conduct Medal. Mr. Bodkin was a farmer and a carpenter. He also worked many years as an auto mechanic.
Funeral services are today, Thursday, January 5 at 1:00 p.m. at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home, 208 Ferry Street, Vevay with Rev. Ronald Sandidge officiating. Burial will be at the Vevay Cemetery with graveside military rites conducted by the Vevay American Legion Post 185 and Vevay VFW Post 5396.

Leslie R. Swinney
Leslie R. Swinney, 66, of Osgood, passed away Friday, December 30, 2005 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born near New Marion on March 30, 1939 the son of Culver and Ethel Andress Swinney. He was married to Jill Wilhelm on August 21, 1960 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son Anthony Swinney and his wife Carole of Holton; one daughter Patricia Grote and her husband Pat of Greensburg; grandchildren Keith Swinney and his wife Amber, Brian, Kevin, and Bridget Swinney, Erica and Morgan Grote; one great-granddaughter Autumn Swinney; his mother-in-law Lois Wilhelm Salmon of Versailles; two brothers Edgar Lee Swinney and his wife Ruth Ann of Osgood, Robert Swinney and his wife Carole of Canaan.
Mr. Swinney was a 1957 graduate of New Marion High School. He had owned and operated Swinney’s Farm Equipment, which was an International Harvester dealership near Versailles. He also was a farmer, a former salesman for Thurston’s Farm Equipment in Greensburg, and was currently self-employed selling used farm equipment. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Osgood where he served as a deacon and trustee. He was also a member of the Osgood Lions Club and was recently awarded a Melvin Jones Fellow. Mr. Swinney was a former member of the Jac-Cen-Del School Board and a former board member of the Southeastern Career Center. He was also a member of the National Tractor Puller’s Association.
Funeral services were Monday, January 2 at the First Baptist Church in Osgood with Rev. Bob Harting and Rev. Don Buck officiating. Burial was at Cliff Hill Cemetery.

Marvin H. Hall
Marvin H. Hall, 74, of Versailles, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at St. Andrew Nursing Home, Batesville. He was born May 25, 1931 in Scottsburg, the son of Charles and Mary Vest Hall, both deceased.
Survivors include son Marvin D. of Georgia; daughters Char Bultman of Osgood; Karen Smith of Versailles; Trish Mayberry of Holton; Julie Kinsey and Jenny Landers of Georgia; brother Darrell of Glenwood; sisters Leona Dragoo of Pinebluff, AR and Brenda Smith of Union City; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and four step-great-grandchildren.
Mr. Hall was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. He was a boxer, lineman, welder, furnace builder and steel fabricator. He also was a poet and had various poems published.
Funeral services were Saturday, December 31, 2005, at Neal’s Funeral Home, 306 S. Walnut Street, Osgood. Burial was at Grandview Memorial Gardens, Madison with military services by the Napoleon VFW and Osgood American Legion.

Nadene L. Cramer
Nadene L. Cramer, 77, of Greensburg, passed away Sunday, January 1, 2006 at the Decatur County Memorial Hospital, Greensburg. She was born January 22, 1928 in Holton, the daughter of Seibert and Edith Fox Laswell, both deceased. She married Dale H. Cramer on January 27, 1961 and he survives.
Other survivors include sons Robert of Burgaw, NC; Steve of Hillsville, VA; and Dennis of Palm Springs, CA; daughter Paula Bard of Durham, NC; sisters Carolee Palmer of Indianapolis and Judy and husband Bill Fields of Greensburg; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Cramer attended Osgood High School. She was a vocational counselor for 26 years at Muscatatuck Regional Development Center in Butlerville. She was a member of the Sandcreek Baptist Church, the Better Half Home Economics Club, and a former member of the Eastern Star where she served as Past Worthy Matron.
Funeral services are today, Thursday, January 5 at 10:00 a.m. at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg with Rev. Jerry Johnson officiating. Burial will be at South Park Cemetery in Greensburg.
