Victor Scott Barnes
Victor Scott Barnes, "Scotty", 18, of Dillsboro
died Thursday, April 20, 2006. Funeral services will be held
today, Tuesday, April 25, 1:00 p.m. at Ulrich Filter Funeral
Home, Dillsboro.
Thelma Kelly
Thelma Kelly, 80, of Holton, passed away Wednesday, April
19, 2006 at the Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg.
She was born at Connersville on April 24, 1925 the daughter
of Elbert and Vina Hensley Byrd. She was married to Cecil
Kelly on May 19, 1948 and he preceded her in death on November
1, 1981.
Survivors include two sons, Ernest Kelly and his wife Ellen
of Beaumont, California and Arthur Kelly of Indianapolis;
two daughters, Carrol Taylor and husband Willie and Sharon
Rees and her husband, Steven all of Holton; 11 grandchildren
and 30 great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Burch of Booneville,
Kentucky.
Mrs. Kelly was a homemaker and had worked as a cook for the
Osgood Grub Co. for 26 years.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 23 at 2 p.m. at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles. Burial was in
the Holton West Cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the Heart Fund or Rescue 69 in care
of Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home.
Robert M. Garnett
Robert M. Garnett, 80, of Osgood, died Thursday, April 20,
2006 at his residence. He was born December 15, 1925 in Grand
Rapids, Michigan the son of Charles A. and Velma McClain Garnett.
He married Jenny Fightmaster on February 4, 1949 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, Robert L. and wife Vickie
Garnett of Osgood; one daughter, Paula Garnett of Osgood;
one brother, Charles Garnett of Battlecreek, Michigan; two
sisters, Patty Garnett of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Nina
Hutchins of Battlecreek, Michigan; three grandchildren and
five great grandchildren. One brother, Richard Garnett preceded
him in death.
Mr. Garnett was an Army veteran of WWII, worked 44 years for
REMC starting in Cynthiana, Kentucky and then in Osgood. He
was a meter reader in Osgood from 1988-2003. He was a past
member of Odd Fellows in Cynthiana, Kentucky and a past member
of the Osgood American Legion.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 23 at Neals
Funeral Home, Osgood at 2:00 p.m.
Arrangements were handled by Neals Funeral Home, Osgood.
Elbert Harold
Laws
On April 15, 2006 Elbert Harold Laws passed away peacefully
in Sandpoint, Idaho after a rich and rewarding life.
He was born on September 10, 1915 in Milan, the younger of
two children. He worked on the family farm with his father
Clarence until he graduated with honors from Milan High School
at age 15. He then attended the University of Indiana for
both undergraduate studies and medical school graduating AOA
in June, 1940. During his time there he married Marilou Klophel
on May 6, 1939.
Harold and Marilou had two girls, Nancy, November 1, 1941
and Linda, April 29, 1944. During the early years of the war
he worked for the Boeing Company in Seattle as a medical officer,
then practiced internal medicine in a small group practice
from 1942-1968. At that point he became associate dean at
the University of Washington medical school and medical director
at Harborview Hospital in Seattle. In July 1959 he served
for several months as a consultant to the American Arabian
Oil Company in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia setting up a x-ray survey
program for employees.
He retired in 1982 to be with his wife and they moved to Sandpoint
in 1997. He is preceded in death by his wife Marilou after
64 years of marriage. In addition, his sister Aline and daughter
Linda also precede him.
He is survived by daughter, Nancy Laws, grandson Scott Dunn,
granddaughter-in-law Wendy Dunn, and great grandchildren,
Casey, Keegan, Garrett and Hailey Dunn.
Arrangements are being entrusted to Coffelt Funeral Service.
Darlene L. King
Darlene L. King, 41, of Osgood, died Thursday, April 20, 2006
at Margaret Mary Community Hospital. She was born Friday,
March 26, 1965 in Oklahoma the daughter of Pete Schalk and
Verna Phelps.
Survivors include her husband, Greg King and mother Verna
Phelps of Sunman; two sons, Dale and wife, Jodi Stanley of
West Chester, Ohio, Gregory C. King at home; one brother,
Doug and wife, Judy Schalk of Sunman; three sisters, Linda
and husband Bernie Cox of Columbus, Diane and husband Terry
McAllister of Aurora and Julie Fields of Lawrenceburg.
Her father, Pete Schalk, preceded her in death.
Mrs. King was a member of the Church of Nazarene in Osgood.
She worked in the deli for JayC Food Store.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, April 25 at
2 p.m. at the Fitch-Denney Funeral Home, Lawrenceburg with
Pastor Ray Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in the Gibson Cemetery in Bright.
Contributions may be made to the family.
Cliff Fuehrer
Cliff Fuehrer, 77, of Indianapolis, formerly of Holton, passed
away Sunday, April 23, 2006 at the Danville Regional Rehabilitation
Center in Danville, IN. He was born near Benham on June 15,
1928 the son of Paul and Nora Hankins Fuehrer.
Survivors include three brothers, Reece Fuehrer and his wife
Carolyn, and Ernest Lee Fuehrer all of Danville, and Danny
Fuehrer and his wife Helen of Sevierville, TN; two sisters,
Pauline Macall of Cedar, MN and Linda Henderson and her husband
Yogi of Rockville; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers Earl,
Emmett, and Max Fuehrer, and his sisters Viola Fuehrer and
Evelyn Griffith.
Mr. Fuehrer was a former resident of Ripley County where he
lived and farmed in the Holton, Dabney and Osgood area. He
was an army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a
field medic and ambulance driver in the 109th field hospital.
He received the Good Conduct Medal and the National Defense
Service Medal.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 26 at 1:00
p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles
with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until time of
services.

Cheryl L. Martin
Cheryl L. Martin, 58, of Versailles passed away Friday, April
14, 2006 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison.
She was born at Sparta, Wisconsin on February 19, 1948 the
daughter of Frederick and Jean Tatu Winkelman. She was married
to Pastor Michael Allen Martin on July 15, 1967 and he survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Marshall Martin and his
wife Jodi of Cross Plains, Nathan and Christina of Versailles,
Mark Martin, and Malachi Martin both of Versailles; three
daughters, Sarah Adams and her husband Mark of Cross Plains,
Gail and Ethan Cole of Dry Ridge, Kentucky, and Rachel Martin
of Versailles; twelve grandchildren; five brothers Lamont
Winkelman of Flippin, Arkansas, Curtis Winkelman of Waxhatchie,
Texas, Mark Winkelman of Corona, California, Cullen Winkelman
of SanDiego, and Aaron Winkelman of Lawton, Oklahoma; six
sisters, Judy Thompson of Crestline, California, Brenda Newlun,
Sandra Harris, and Shelly Stayton, all of Camp Douglas, Wisconsin,
Fredonna Johnson of Traverse City, Michigan, Janine Bires
of New Lisbon, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Martin was a housewife and a member of the Remnant Baptist
Church near Dillsboro.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, April 18 at
11:00 a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles
with Bro. John Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Green
Cemetery near Versailles.

Lula Siemantel
Lula Siemantel, 87, of Osgood, passed away Saturday, April
15, 2006 at the Waters of Batesville. She was born at Ousley
County, KY, on January 8, 1919 the daughter of George Green
and Addie Hutchison Gabbard, both deceased. She married Jessie
Belew and later Frank Siemantel and they both preceded her
in death.
Survivors include daughter Donna Sparkman of Sunman; son Elvin
Belew of Madison; sister Callie Billingsley of Aurora; six
grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and four great great
grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by daughter Nancy Pamela Belew on
March 23, 2006; two brothers and two sisters.
Visitation is today, Tuesday, April 18 from 9-11:00 a.m. at
the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, South Main Street in Milan.
Funeral services will immediately follow with Rev. Andy Streit
officiating. Burial will be at the Mt. Sinai Cemetery.

Wahoff
Awanda Lee (Wanda) Wahoff, 74, of Batesville, died Friday,
April 7, 2006 at her residence. She was born November 19,
1931 in Cincinnati the daughter Robert Lee and Margurita (Wogenstahl)
Clements and they preceded her in death. She married Ronald
H.V. Wahoff on February 11, 1950 and he preceded her in death
on April 16, 1989.
Survivors include five sons, Billy and Jennifer of California,
Chuck of Cincinnati, David and Donna of Cincinnati, Bobby
and Barb of Kentucky, Greg of Cincin-nati; six daughters,
Marsha (Jona-than) Wursthorn of Milan, Alma (Robert) Hamby
of Texas, Karen (Alvis) Goodman of Cincinnati, Georgetta Elmore
of Texas, Teresa (Gary) Skaggs of Batesville and JoAnn Risk
Jones of Cincinnati; two brothers, James Clements, Ronald
Clements; four sisters, Regina Dailey, Elizabeth Schuler,
Donna Hornberger, Victoria Hayneg; 28 grandchildren; 19 great
grandchildren; 12 nieces and 13 nephews.
One son, Adam; one daughter, Debbie Jean; one sister, Iona
Palmer and brothers Tommy and Donald Clements preceded her
in death.
Mrs. Wahoff was a retired em-ployee of the US Postal Service
and a member of the St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Elmwood
Place (Cincinnati).
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 12 at 1 p.m.
at the Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan with Rev. Tom Holt
officiating.

Darlene Emerson, nee Smith, beloved wife of Don Emerson, dear
mother of Norma (Paul) Tranquill, loving grandmother of Christopher
(Jill), Timothy and Patrick Tranquill, sister of Maudalle
Ramey, Josephine Long, Bertha Mae Lewis, Oaflee and Charles
Smith, also survived by 11 stepbrothers and sisters, died
Wednesday, April 5, 2006, age 71, resident of Milan. Services
were held Saturday in Cincinnati. Memorials may be made to
the American Diabetes Association.
Dennis Robert Ripperger
Dennis Robert Ripperger, 54, of Holton, passed away April
5, 2006. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 8 at Neals
Funeral Home, Osgood.
Elmer F. Platt
Elmer F. Platt, 94, of Manchester, died Saturday, April 8,
2006 at Ripley Crossings at Milan. He was born February 3,
1912 on County Farm Road in Manchester the son of Emmett and
Bertha Fletcher Platt, both deceased. He married Mildred Mae
Pastner and she preceded him in death on March 7, 2005.
Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and
Glenn Huber of Sunman; one son, David E. Platt of Manchester;
five grandchildren; one great granddaughter and four great
grandsons; one sister, Doris Brown of West Chester, OH,; brothers
Milton of Moores Hill and Dale of Brookville.
Mr. Platt was a farmer and also retired from Seagrams
after 40 years of employment. He was a veteran of the Air
Force of World War II. He was also a member of the Hogan Hill
Baptist Church, the Moores Hill American Legion and the Masonic
Lodge.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, April 11, at 1:00
p.m. at the Cook Funeral Home, Sunman. Funeral services will
begin at 2 p.m. at the Hogan Hill Baptist Church. Burial will
follow in the Hogan Hill Cemetery with graveside military
honors.

Ernest R. Edens
Ernest R. Edens, 90, of Madison, died Saturday, April 8, 2006
at Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. He was
born March 24, 1916 in Ripley County, the son of Luther and
Alma Edens, both deceased. He married Clara C. Edens and she
preceded him in death on April 17, 2001.
Survivors include son Lloyd and wife Janet Edens of Middlesboro,
KY and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by half-sister Alva Snider and half-brother
Lowell Vollmer.
Mr. Edens was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of WWII. He retired
from the Jefferson Proving Grounds as an auto maintenance
supervisor. Mr. Edens was a member of the Trinity United Methodist
Church and Union Lodge #2 F&AM. He enjoyed boating and
playing cards with the Cabin Group Card Club.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, April 11 from 6-8:00
p.m. and Wednesday, April 12 from 9-10:00 a.m. at the Vail-Holt
Funeral Home, Madison. Funeral services will be Wednesday,
April 12 at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Nancy
Harmon Chizmar officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview
Memorial Gardens.

Mary K. Hildebrand, 84, of Indianapolis passed away April
5, 2006. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Arlington Heights Baptist Church and
O.E.S #333 in Versailles.
She is survived by her loving husband, Eugene A. Hildebrand;
children, Pamela L. Hildebrand, Peggy D. Ezell and Paul E.
Hildebrnad; two grandchildren and one great grandchild; sister,
Geneva Westmeyer.
Services were held Saturday, April 8 in Flanner & Buchanan
Funeral Center-Washington Park East. Burial was in the Washington
Park East Cemetery.

“Red” Lohrum
Albert “Red” Lohrum, 78, of Versailles passed
away Friday, March 31, 2006 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital
in Batesville. He was born at Elrod, Indiana on October 26,
1927 the son of Albert and Eunice Elrod Lohrum, Sr.
He grew up and graduated from Versailles High School in 1946.
He married Patricia Steuer on November 14, 1952 in Alcorn
County, Mississippi and she survives.
Other survivors include his sons Leslie Lohrum and his wife
Christine of Versailles and Lynn Lohrum and his wife Paige
of Versailles, two grandsons Jackson and Samuel, three brothers,
Vic of Elrod, John of Versailles, Buzzy of Elrod, two sisters,
Alice Lee Mathis of Dillsboro and Linda Bruce of Versailles.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Lohrum was an army veteran of WWII and Korea, he received
the Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal Japan in WWII.
He was also a mold maker for Thatcher Glass Company in Lawrenceburg
where he retired from in 1985. He was a loving husband, father,
grandfather, and friend.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at 11:00
a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Brother Dale
Day officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery
with military rites being served by the Leora Weare American
Legion Post 173.
Memorials may be given to the Washington Cemetery in care
of the funeral home.

M. “Crash” Voss
Estal M. “Crash” Voss, 87, of Naples, FL, formerly
of Milan, passed away Friday, March 31, 2006 at his residence.
He was born at Elrod on December 7, 1918 the son of Chris
and Pauline Hallforth Voss, both deceased. He married Elsie
McIntosh on September 17, 1938 and she survives.
Survivors also include sons Bill and wife Verna of Santa Claus
and Tom and wife Sue of Milan; daughter Judy and husband Darrell
Campbell of Naples, FL; sister Helen Peck of Versailles; seven
grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by son Bobby Voss; grandson Scott
Voss and brother Donald Voss.
Mr. Voss owned and operated Voss Trucking. He was a member
of the North Naples Baptist Church and a 50-year member of
the Milan First Baptist Church. Mr. Voss was a 50-year member
of the Milan F&AM Masonic Lodge #31 and the Scottish Rite.
Visitation will be Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Laws-Carr-Moore
Funeral Home in Milan. Funeral services will be held Sunday,
April 9 at 2:00 p.m. at the Milan First Baptist Church, Milan
with Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be in the Craven
Cemetery, Milan.
Memorials may be given to the Milan Baptist Church, Milan
Masonic Lodge or Craven Cemetery.

Miller Schmidt
Bonita Miller Schmidt, 65, of Greensburg, passed away Friday,
March 31, 2006 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center Hospice in
Covington, KY. She was born April 26, 1940 at Osgood, the
daughter of Charles and Ann Kestler Miller. She married Lester
Edward Schmidt on October 1, 1960 and he survives.
Survivors also include mother Ann Miller of Osgood; son Curtis
Lee Schmidt of Louisville, KY; daughter Tracey Ann Schmidt
Holmes of Lawrenceburg; sister Sherron Bultman of Port Charlotte,
FL; aunt Betty Hopkins of Punta Gorda, FL and four grandchildren.
Mrs. Schmidt worked for many years at the Lawrenceburg Manchester
Sparta Water District in Aurora. She was a member of the St.
Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon and Tri Kappa of Aurora.
Funeral services will be held today, Tuesday, April 4 at 10:00
a.m. at the St. Maurice Catholic Church in Napoleon. Burial
will be in the church cemetery.
Memorials may be given to the St. Elizabeth Hospice in c/o
the funeral home. Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood was
in charge of arrangements.
Glenn
G. Huntington
Glenn G. Huntington, 91, of Madison, passed away Tuesday,
March 28, 2006 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital,
Madison. He was born August 19, 1914 in Ripley County, the
son of Ira G. and Ada Lichtenberger Huntington, both deceased.
He married Dorothy Ebel on April 5, 1941 in Greensburg and
she preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons Madison mayor Albert “Al”
and wife Connie; Jon of New York, NY; brother Lewis of Hope;
granddaughters Erin Huntington Kazemi and husband Ramin of
London, England and Brooke Huntington of Indianapolis; several
nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by brothers Ray and Lee.
Mr. Huntington was a 1932 graduate of Osgood High School and
a 1934 graduate of Bradley Tech in Peoria, IL. He worked for
Oscar Bear’s Jewelry in Madison as a watchmaker for
nine years. He then served as plant supervisor at G.C. Conn
Limited for 20 years, retiring in 1979. Mr. Huntington began
a new career working as a funeral director’s assistant
for the Gans-Andrew Funeral Home and then Lytle Mortuary.
He volunteered for 22 years at the King’s Daughters’
Hospital and was named the Volunteer of the Year in 2003.
He also received the Older Hoosier of the Year Award from
the Honorable Joseph Kernen, Governor, in 2003. Mr. Huntington
was a 65-year member of the Union Lodge #2 F&AM, serving
as a Past Master and as treasurer, the Scottish Rite Valley
of Indianapolis, Gideons International Jefferson County Camp,
and the Rushville Pioneer Engineers Club. He was a member
of the North Madison United Methodist Church serving as a
trustee and was on the conference leadership academy committee.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 3 at the North Madison
United Methodist Church with Rev. Randy Jungkurth and Rev.
Vickie Perkins officiating. Masonic services were performed
by the Union Lodge #2 F&AM. Burial was at Grandview Memorial
Gardens, Madison.
Memorials may be given to the Glenn G. and Dorothy Ebel Huntington
Scholarship Fund or North United Methodist Church. Morgan
& Nay Funeral Centre in Madison was in charge of arrangements.

Heidt
Louise Heidt, 82, of Batesville, passed away Saturday, April
1, 2006 at her residence. She was born March 18, 1924 in Decatur
County, the daughter of Charles and Wilna Johnston Craig,
both deceased. She married Malcolm Heidt on August 22, 1946
in Greensburg and he survives.
Survivors also include son Thomas of Versailles; daughters
Janice Bedel of Versailles and Connie Miller of Batesville;
six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by brothers William, Boyd and Carlos
Craig.
Mrs. Heidt was a former hostess at McDonald’s in Batesville.
She was a member of Batesville United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, April 4 from 11:00
a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, 500 W. Pearl Street,
Batesville. Funeral services will be held immediately following
visitation at the funeral home with Rev. Larry Marhanka officiating.
Burial will be at the Batesville United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mae Rose
Lillie Mae Rose, 87, of Osgood, passed away Thursday, March
30, 2006 at her daughter’s residence in Milan. She was
born October 10, 1918 in Clay County, KY, the daughter of
Robert and Mary Reynolds Baker, both deceased. She married
Willard Clay Rose in 1937 and he preceded her in death on
May 3, 1967.
Survivors include daughters Christina Asche of Milan and Mary
Lou Stevenson of Westport; sisters Sara Dennis of Cincinnati,
OH and Myrtle LaFollette of Lawrenceburg; eight grandchildren;
14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son Willard Clay Rose, Jr.; brothers
Charles, Henry and Clarence Baker; and sister Florence Wells.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 2, 2006 at Neal’s
Funeral Home in Osgood. Burial was in the Adams Lutheran Cemetery
in Batesville.
