Following up on a tip from a confidential informant, Lt. Bill Davison was able to secure the whereabouts of a convicted felon who had escaped from the Department of Corrections in Indianapolis.

On Tuesday morning, April 24, Dale W. Hunter was taken into custody without incident. Assisting with the arrest were officers from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police.
The former Ripley County resident was at a residence at Country Wood Apartments in Versailles. Hunter was taken to the Ripley County Jail where he was held until he was picked up by the Department of Corrections later that day.

Lt. Davison noted that a warrant for Hunter’s arrest had been issued Friday, April 20 after he failed to return from a work release program through the Department of Corrections.

Hunter was serving a four-year sentence for burglary that began September 19, 2005. If charged with Escape, he could get additional prison time.
