Former Lady Raider Kristen
Huss shines

South Ripley Lady Raider graduate of 2006, Kristen Huss,
(daughter of Jeff and Lee Ann Huss of Versailles) continues
her pursuit of sports playing basketball at the college
level following high school graduation.
Huss is a freshman at the College of Mount St. Joseph in
Cincinnati, Ohio. She has impressed basketball staff and
fans there as she did during her years at South Ripley.
Dane Neumeister, College of Mount St. Joseph Sports Information
Director reports that Kristen's season has productively
influenced their team, and that she has been named to the
Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Freshman Team
for the 2006-2007 season.
Specific accomplishments of 5'10" Huss over her freshman
season as a Lady Lion forward included:
Played in 21/ of their 24 games,
Started 15 of those games,
Averaged 6.5 points per game,
Averaged 5.5 rebounds per game,
Shot 42% from the field,
Shot 82% from the FT line,
Collected 17 Steals.
Amassed 11 Assists, and was
Credited for 5 Blocked shots.
The Lady Lions finished their season with a 7-17 record,
(2-14) in HCAC conference.
Huss had high marks of 12 points vs Rose-Hulman Inst. of
Tech, and 10 rebounds against Cincinnati Christian University.
The College of Mount St. Joseph is an undergraduate Catholic
college of 2,200 students in Cincinnati, Ohio that provides
an interdisciplinary liberal arts and professional curriculum
emphasizing values, service and social responsibility

Welti captures 1st in Wabash College Relays

Brandon Welti of Sunman graduated from Milan HS and further
pursued his education as a student at Franklin College. As
a former runner for the Indians, Welti has continued to be
a constant in the track program at Franklin College.
Once again Welti has captured the prestigious honor of being
named Track Athlete of the Week by the Heartland Collegiate
Athletic Conference (HCAC) for the week of March 12-18.
Welti captured a 1st place in the Wabash College Relays on
March 17. On March 19 Welti was informed of his most recent
honor.
Welti, who is currently a Franklin College Grizzlies sophomore,
finished first among 20 contestants in the 5,000-meter run
with a season-best time of 15:26.50.
Kevin Elixman, Sports Information Director and Officer of
Public Relations of Franklin College continues to help keep
interested parties informed of area student athletic accomplishments
while attending Franklin College.
