Indian boys track & field team plead the fifth

The 2007 ORVC High School Track & Field meet was held at the Madison Consolidated High School track though hosted by Jac-Cen-Del on Tuesday, May 10. (Lights will be installed on the JCD track this summer.)
The Milan Indian boy's team earned first place over the 7 team event with a total score of 125 points by events end to claim their fifth consecutive victory.
Other boys teams placed as follows; Rising Sun's Shiners captured 2nd place with a tally of 96, Southwestern Hanover ended with 76 for 3rd, South Ripley closed in 4th with 68 points. Fifth spot was taken by Shawe's Hilltoppers at 46 1/2, 6th was the Switzerland County Pacers at 46 and rounding out the competition with 13 1/2 points was the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles.

Batesville Lady Bulldogs claim '07 Rip. Co. Softball Invitational Crown

The Ripley County Girls Softball Invitational Tournament was held on Saturday, May 12, at the Jac-Cen-Del High School ball field.
The first game matched the South Ripley Lady Raiders against the Milan Lady Indians. The Lady Indians won the game by the score of 8-3.
Game two of the venue slated the Batesville Lady Bulldogs in competition against the hosting Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles. The Lady Bulldogs won the game by the score of 12-2.
The consolation game was between the hosting Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles and the South Ripley Lady Raiders. As the game progressed, the teams battled with the Lady Raiders taking the lead, then the Lady Eagles, but by games end, the Lady Eagles claimed the victory with a score of 8-6 to claim 3rd place.
In the championship contest, the Batesville Lady Bulldogs opened to quickly take the lead and never looked back. The Lady Bulldogs earned the championship title, winning by a 9- score.
The Lady Bulldogs struck for 2 runs in the bottom of the first inning, and added one in the second for a 3-0 count. The Lady Indians scored their first run in the top of the third, but the Lady Bulldogs hammered out 2 more for a 5-1 score.
In the bottom half of the Lady Bulldog fourth and sixth innings, they added a pair of runs in each, for a total of 9-1
The Indians failed to score in the seventh, allowing the Lady Bulldogs to claim the '07 Ripley County championship title.
