Milan High School is splitting the honor of being the school’s valedictorian three ways in 2007. Three deserving young women share the title this year.

Kendra Walker, daughter of Kenny Walker and Debbie Walker, is the student council president and senior class treasurer. She is in the National Honor Society and participated in cheerleading, band and Spell Bowl. Kendra will attend IUPUI this fall pursuing a degree in business. She noted, “The high point of my senior year was winning Homecoming Queen.”

Rebecca Jackson, who is sharing valedictorian honors, manages the cross-country track team, is a member of the National Honor Society and Senior Club and plays in band. Rebecca, who is the daughter of Mrs. Carol Jackson, works at the Subway Sandwich Shop in Versailles. She also will attend IUPUI later this year, but has not yet decided on her major. Her advice to underclassmen, “Have fun, but work hard, too!”

Amanda Walter, the third co-valedictorian, loves to play sports. She is involved in basketball, tennis and golf. Amanda is the treasurer for the National Honor Society, on the academic team, a Spell Bowl participant and a member of the Senior Club. She works at Kroger. Amanda’s major at IUPUI will be in Biology and her plans include dental school. “My favorite memory,” Amanda reminisced, “would have to be our senior trip to Florida.” She is the daughter of Kevin and Brenda Walter.

This year’s salutatorian is senior class president, Zach Baker, son of Mike and Stephanie Baker. Zach is also the Sergeant-At-Arms for the National Honor Society and is on the student council. He plays football and basketball and runs track. Baker is proud to be a member of the IHSAA Role Model program. He will attend the University of Indianapolis where his focus will be on sports management with a minor in business. Zach had this advice for his younger schoolmates, “Take time to enjoy your four years of high school. If you don’t you will wish you had made the most of it.”
