Lady Eagles deliver Coach Brian Samples his 100th career win

Gary Franklin - Sports Editor
Championship night for the Lady Eagles of Jac-Cen-Del High School held even more meaning as their coach, Brian Samples, would attain a 100th career victory milestone in his coaching career. Winning their championship game in the 2007 IHSAA Class 1A Sectional warranted it.
By a score of 3-2, the Lady Eagles came through in their home at bat of the 7th inning to put the winning run across the plate.
Lady Eagle junior, Kara Harlemert, paved the way with a lead off triple. She was replaced on the base by junior Abby Morehead, who was put in the game to possibly steal home.
Two batters later, the Lady Eagles' shining moment began to dim with two outs and a runner anxiously awaiting the opportunity to cross the plate for the victory.
Sophomore Valorie Wagner stepped into the batters box to blister the second delivered pitch, driving the winning run home.

New milestones set by the 2007
Milan Lady Indian Softball Team

Gary Franklin, Sports Editor

Milan Indian Coach Milton Teer and his band of Lady Indian softball players fell short of the goal they were shooting for this season, but it was not from a lack of work, effort nor dedication to their cause.
As Teer puts it, "I couldn't be more proud of the Milan Lady Indian varsity team. I feel our kids made sacrifices to get better and they never quit. Our seniors are going to be missed. (Lacee Alloway and Kristy Teer) Both girls are hard working kids any coach would love to have on their team. I am also proud to say that our underclassmen are going to be fun to coach in the upcoming year. Our season had several bright spots as this team set school records for our best conference record at 10-2 and most wins in a season with 18."
The Lady Indians fell to a Southwestern Lady Rebel team at Switzerland County HS ball park on Monday, May 21, during the first game of Class 2A, Sectional #44. The final score was 4-0.
