Anonymous tip leads to marijuana arrest

Tpr. Chris Howell of the Indiana State Police recently received an anonymous tip of marijuana growing at 8811 E CR 700N near Milan. On Tuesday morning troopers from the ISP Versailles Post did an “open field search” and located several marijuana plants on the property. The troopers then made contact with the renters of the property, Gregory Scott Ruble, 34 and Christina L. Bowling also 34. The investigation revealed approximately 427 marijuana plants growing on the property and a subsequent search of the house revealed other evidence of a marijuana growing operation.

Ruble was arrested and charged with Cultivating Marijuana (over 30 grams) a Class D Felony, Possession of Marijuana (over 30 grams) a Class D Felony, Maintaining a Common Nuisance a Class D Felony, and Habitual Traffic Violator (Lifetime Suspension) a Class C Felony. Ruble was taken to the Ripley County Jail where he is being held pending an initial hearing.
Christina L. Bowling was not arrested, however charges are pending against her.
The investigation is being led by Tpr. Chris Howell who is being assisted by several other troopers from the Versailles District.

This is the time of year when marijuana growers are busy. With the lack of rainfall so far this year, growers may be more active than usual trying to irrigate their plants.
