Personnel decided at special SR board meeting

The South Ripley School Board held a special meeting on Tuesday, July 3. John Mehrle was hired as assistant superintendent for the corporation. Mehrle comes from the South Dearborn School System where he was assistant high school principal.

Kim McCane resigned as math teacher at the high school. Melanie Evans was hired to fill the position. Richard Burkhard will be a new English teacher at the high school. Nathan Baurley resigned as a teacher at the elementary school.

Superintendent Ted Ahaus reminded board members to be thinking about their views on the sports complex presented at the June meeting. It will be discussed at the July 12 board meeting.

Superintendent Ahaus updated the board on applications for the technology director and chemistry positions. Five individuals have expressed an interest in the school board vacancy by the resignation of Jim Samples.

Six school board members attended the meeting: Robert Garcia, Gil Landwehr, Randy McIntosh, Jim Miller, Ralph Miller and Tim Taylor. Superintendent Ted Ahaus and School Attorney Merritt Alcorn were present to advise the board. The next regular meeting of the board will be on Thursday, July 12 this month instead of their regular third Monday night.
