Neill "Whitey" Demaree
Neill "Whitey" Demaree, 82, of Gray, Georgia, passed away on Friday, October 26, 2007, in a local hospital, surrounded by his family. The family will greet friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, October 31 in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, with burial at Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville. Rev. Gary Thomas will officiate.
Mr. Demaree was born to the late Elmer Elsworth Demaree and Myrtle Boswell Demaree on April 27, 1925 in Ripley County, and had lived in Jones County for the past twenty years. A veteran of the United States Army, he served honorably during World War II as a Staff Sergeant on the front lines in the European theatre in both France and Germany. In civilian life, Mr. Demaree was an iron worker and worked his way to becoming a vice-president for Howard-Martin, Inc. He was also instrumental in starting ARCA, the Automobile Racing Association of America, as well as being inducted into the Racing Sports Hall of Fame in Auburn, IN. Mr. Demaree also appeared in the major motion picture "Driving Miss Daisy". He was preceded in death by his wife Nancy Kathleen Hechler Demaree.
Mr. Demaree is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law: Judy and Reggie Bailey, Janet Demaree and Joyce and Dale Nelson; son and daughter-in-law: Jeff and Linda Demaree; brother: Jesse Demaree; sisters and brother-in-law: Beryl Hartman, Mildred Jackson and Joyce and John Kohlmier; grandchildren: Maria Demaree, Crystal Walton, Justin Nelson, Melissa Nelson, Eric Nelson, Cassandra Bambarger, Chris Wolfe, Jennifer Wolfe, Miranda Everett and Kenderick Bremmer; and his great grandchildren: Rhett Woodard, Devin Woodard, Logan Walton, Caden Walton, Rayanne Nelson, Nathan Nelson, Gabrielle Snchneider, Carlie Bambarger, Grant Bambarger, Noah Wolfe, Chelsea Humphery, Clarrissa Humphery, Miraha Pringle, Jamison Everett and Brie Everett.

Gerald H. Fasbinder, 73, of Batesville, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2007. Funeral services were held at St. Louis Church with burial in the church cemetery. Memorials may made to St. Louis School or Batesville EMS 10.

Betty R. Bode
Betty R. Bode, 73, of Milan, passed away on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at her home. She was born at Friendship on April 6, 1934, the daughter of Hunter and Lois Ward Taul.
Survivors include three sons: Bill Bode and wife Lauren of Bayville, NJ, Jim Bode and wife Aimee of Milan, and Bob Bode and his wife Kristina of Holton; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Edith Bullock of Ocala, FL; two brothers, Jesse Taul of Versailles and Jim Taul and wife Sharon of Versailles.
Mrs. Bode was a 1952 graduate of Versailles High School. She was retired from Krogers where she worked as a secretary in the payroll department. She had also worked in the Hardy Insurance Agency at Versailles for the past ten years. Mrs. Bode was a member of the Bear Creek Baptist Church and participated in league bowling at Pollards Bowl in Versailles for several years.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 31 at 11 a.m. at the Bear Creak Baptist Church in Friendship with her nephew Pastor Dan Bullock and Rev. Sherman Hughes officiating. Burial will be in the Akers Friendship Cemetery. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the Akers Friendship Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Clara A. Webster
Clara A. Webster, 85, of Moores Hill, passed away on Friday, October 19, 2007, at Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. She was born on July 16, 1922 in Dearborn County, the daughter of Walter and Cecil (Belew) Lovelace. She married Leonard H. Webster on December 24, 1938 and he preceded her in death on August 19, 1993.
Survivors include three sons: Larry and James and Billy Jo (Melony) Webster, all of Moores Hill; three daughters: Donna (Mick) Lamkin, Barbara McAdams, both of Moores Hill, and Diana Roberts of Aurora; one brother: George (Deck) Lovelace of Moores Hill; two sisters: Freda Denny of Aurora, and Elsie Stahl of Indianapolis; 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers and one sister.
Mrs. Webster was a former employee of the US Shoe Factory in Osgood and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Wilmington Methodist Church.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, October 23 at 11 a.m. at the Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores Hill with Rev. Charles Hill officiating. Burial will be in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Moores Hill. Memorials may be given to the Moores Hill Fire or Rescue.

Paul E. Federle
Paul E. Federle, 71, of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2007. Funeral services were held on Saturday, October 20, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Batesville with burial in the church cemetery. Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Marie Strubbe
Helen Marie Strubbe, 94, formerly of Correct, passed away on October 22, 2007 at King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. She was born on July 30, 1914 at New Marion, the daughter of Wilbur and Letha Spears Hughes. She married Wm. Day Strubbe on July 30, 1935 at New Marion and he preceded her in death on January 11, 1986.
Survivors include a son, John W. and wife Evelyn Demaree Strubbe of Ver-sailles.
She was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Haldane Hughes; and sisters, Shirley Michaels and Leone Christman.
Mrs. Strubbe was a mem-ber of the Correct Homemak-ers Club and the Versailles Baptist Church, where she had taught Sunday School for 50 years.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 24 at the Versailles Baptist Church in Versailles with visitation from 9-10 a.m. and funeral starting at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery in Versailles. Memorials may be given to the Bill Strubbe Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home. Arrangements were made by Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood.

Edgar L. Baugh
Edgar L. Baugh, 73, of Holton, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at the University Hospital in Cincinnati, OH. He was born at Mintonville, KY on September 11, 1934, the son of John and Gertie Ashby Baugh. He married Betty Sue Curran on October 28, 1957 and she preceded him in death on January 16, 2004.
Survivors include two sons, Mike Baugh and his wife Pam of Scipio and Joey Baugh and his wife Shella of Seymour; grandchildren, Alysa and Brycen Baugh; two sisters, Pauline Cole of Holton and Bonnie Larabee of Cincinnati, OH.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, and his brothers, Roy, Fred, and Cecil Baugh.
Mr. Baugh was a 1952 graduate of Holton High School. He was employed with Cummins Engine at Columbus for 36 years retir-ing in 1997. He was also an Army eteran, having served during the Korean War.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 15 at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev. David Shivers of the Hopewell Baptist Church officiating. Military honors were conducted by the Versailles American Legion. Memorials may be given to the Holton Fire Department in care of the funeral home.

Alvin F. Bernhard
Alvin F. Bernhard, 82, of Batesville, passed away on Friday, October 12, 2007 at the Mercy-Franciscan Hos-pital in Fairfield, OH. He was born on October 26, 1924 in Lookout, the son of Edward and Alice (Huneke) Bernhard.
Survivors include several cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, who died as an infant.
Mr. Bernhard retired from the Farm Bureau Co-op in Osgood. He was a U.S. Army veteran of Korea, member of the Adams Lutheran Church and life member of the Osgood American Legion.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, October 14 at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville with Rev. William Powlin officiating. Burial was in the Adams Lutheran Church Cemetery with military graveside rites. Memorials may be given to Adams Lutheran Church. Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville was in charge of arrangements.

James William Petrey, Jr.
James William Petrey, Jr., 55 of Osgood passed way on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born on October 14, 1951 in Corbin, KY to James William Petrey, Sr. and Joyce Alsip Petrey. He married Wilma Turner and she survives.
Other survivors include four children, James William Petrey III, of Milan, Janina Lucerd, of Osgood, Pamela Smith, of Versailles, and Rhonda Clark, of Holton; 12 grandchildren; five brothers, Dennis "Del" Petrey, Glenn Helton, Michael Petrey, Mark Petrey and Rex Fox; three sisters, Dianna Aaron, Theresa May, and Jamie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Petrey moved to this area in 1987, coming here from Deland, FL. He served his country in the US Army from 1969 to 1973. In 1999 he became disabled and was unable to work.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2007 at 1 p.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood, with Pastor Don Buck officiating. Interment will be in the St. Paul Cemetery in Sunman. Visitation will also be held on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until time of services. Memorials may be given to the family.

Linda S. Clift
Linda S. Clift, 59, of Lawrenceburg, formerly of Milan, passed away on Friday, October 5, 2007 at Dearborn County Hospital in Lawrenceburg. She was born on February, 17, 1948 in Milan, the daughter of Floyd and Patricia (Abplanalp) Horton. She was married to James Clift on July 13, 1968 and he preceded her in death on August 25, 1996.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick (Jill) Clift of Greensburg, Shane (Christine) Clift of Dillsboro; father, Floyd (Renee) Horton of Milan; two brothers, Mike Horton of Indianapolis, Tim Horton of Columbus; one sister, Tammy Negangard of Milan; one grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Michael Christian Clift in 1968; and her mother, Patricia Horton in 1997.
Mrs. Clift was a homemaker.
Visitation is being held today, Tuesday, October 9 from 6-8 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with funeral services being held on Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Alice F. Bultman
Alice F. Bultman, 89, of Napoleon, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2007. She was born near Na-poleon on June 12, 1918, the daughter of George and Pearl Drescher Young. She was married to Cecil Bultman, Sr. on December 30, 1935 and he survives.
Other survivors include two sons, Cecil Bultman, Jr. and his wife Mary of Napo-leon, and Denzil Bultman of Madison; one daughter De-Vota Dean of Osgood; 9 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; four brothers, Sylvester Young, Norman Young, and Lester Young all of Napoleon, and Delbert Young of New Mex-ico; one sister Ida Grow of Napoleon.
She was preceded in death by her son Donald Charles Bultman, grandson Karl Bultman, her parents, brothers Alvin, Earl, Roy, Harry, and Walter Young, and her sisters Sadie Schmidt and Esther Barnard.
Mrs. Bultman was a member of the St. John Lu-theran Church in Napoleon where she was also a member of the Ladies Aid Society. She was a former employee of the Dunbar and Bultman Dairy in Osgood where she worked as a cook and was also a homemaker.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 3 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held today, Tuesday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to St. John’s Lutheran Church in care of the funeral home.

Carolyn Ann Baker
Carolyn Ann Baker, 69, of Farmers Retreat, passed away on Thursday, September 27, 2007 at the Waters of Dillsboro. She was born on September 1, 1938 in Milan, the daughter of Marwin and Mable Taylor Luke. She married James Baker in 1957 and they became lifelong resi-dents of the Dills-boro/Farmers Retreat area.
Survivors include four children, Russell (Shannon) Baker, of LaGrange; William (Rachel) Baker, of Dillsboro; Melissa (Jay) Walston, of Dillsboro; Pamela (Tom) Lewis, of Moores Hill; 12 grandchildren; and one sister, Joanne Holt. She was preceded in death by her hus-band, James Baker in 1991 and her parents.
Mrs. Baker graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1956 and attended Cos-metology College for one year. Besides being a beauti-cian, Carolyn made wedding dresses and wedding cakes for many people in the area. She was also involved in a logging business with her husband, and worked for five years for Congressman Lee Hamilton. She was also a tour guide for Stewart Tours for several years. Mrs. Baker was a member of St. John’s Lu-theran Church in Farmers Retreat, and the quilting club of Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 1 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat. Memorials may be given to the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery Fund or to the Ladies Mission Kitchen Fund of St. John’s Lutheran Church. Ulrich-Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.

Anton Haring, 81, of Moores Hill, passed away on Friday, September 28, 2007. Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 12 noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Aurora. Juanita Bryant
Juanita Bryant, 67, of Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at The Waters of Batesville. She was born on April 11, 1940 in Louisville, KY, the daughter of George and Ella Montgomery Goebel. She married Bobby Bryant and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Debbie Draper of Aurora, Kerry Bryant and Darlene Bryant both of Lawrenceburg, and Beverly Graves of Holton; sons, George Bryant and Bobby Bryant, both of Manchester; five grandchildren: Travis Bryant, Kevin Bryant, William Hammer, Jennifer Merkel and Jessica Hammer; three great grandchildren, Jacob Bryant, Laney Merkel and Logan Bryant; and sister, Rose Woodward of Troy, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Kenneth Bryant; granddaughter, Stephanie Hammer; and sister, Aileen Fry.
Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker and a member of the First Southern Baptist Church of Sunman.
Visitation was held on Saturday, September 29 with the funeral service following with Rev. Hobert Brandenburg officiating. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery in Aurora. Memorials may be given to the First Southern Baptist Church or to Hospice of MMCH-Batesville. Cook Funeral Home in Sunman was in charge of arrangements.
