Marilyn Brinson
Phelps
Marilyn Brinson Phelps, 53, of Redwood Drive, Fayetteville,
NC, (formerly of Cross Plains) died Sunday, October 21, 2007
at the Cape Fear Valley Hospital in Fayetteville.
She was born in Versailles to Reba Joann Steele Brinson and
the late Richard C. Brinson.
Survivors include her husband, Daniel Earl Phelps, Jr.; her
mother, Joann Brinson of Versailles; her daughter, Amy Mason
(Adam) of Elizabeth City, NC; stepdaughters, Kelly P. Vann and
Michelle Phelps, all of Elizabeth City; stepsons, Daniel Phelps,
III of Elizabeth City and Joseph David Phelps of Ft. Bragg,
NC; sisters, Diana Sturgill of Norton, VA, and Kathy Dobbs of
Holton; brothers, Marty Brinson and Doug Brinson, both of Versailles;
12 step-grandchildren and seven step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 25 at Twiford's
Memorial Chapel with Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial
will follow in a local cemetery.

Wilma E. Ping
Wilma E. Ping, 75, of Versailles, passed away on Tuesday, October
23, 2007 at Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. She was born
on September 3, 1932 at Sharps Chapel, TN, the daughter of Harrison
H. and Elsie (Keck) Hopper. She married Ray Ping on May 4, 1953
and he preceded her in death on May 18, 1995.
Survivors include one son, Terry and wife Kate Ping of St. Louis,
MO; two grandsons, Brian and Rusty Ping; a nephew she raised,
Dale Kelly; one brother, Lee (Ron) and wife Ellen Hopper of
Florida; one sister, Shirley and husband Paul Myers of Osgood;
daughter in law, Karen Ping of Milan.
She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Tim Ping in 2004;
a niece she raised, Pat Detmer; one brother and three sisters.
Mrs. Ping was a former employee of the Milan Drug Store and
Winters Grocery in Milan. She was a member of the Milan First
Baptist Church and a former member of the CB Helping Hands Club.
Her handle was "Granny Lou" She was a person who truly
enjoyed helping other people.
Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore
Funeral Home in Milan. Funeral services will be held on Friday,
October 26 at 10 a.m. at the Milan First Baptist Church with
Rev. Harris Long officiating. Burial will be in the New Craven
Cemetery in Milan. Memorials may be given to the Tim Ping Music

Corinne S. Barricklow
Corinne S. Barricklow, 85, of Osgood, passed away on Tuesday,
October 16, 2007 at her residence. She was born at Dabney on
December 21, 1921, the daughter of Ralph and Audra Vanosdol
Stevens. She was married to George Barricklow on January 6,
1944 and he preceded her in death on January 26, 1968.
Survivors include two sons, Barry W. Barricklow of Lewisville,
TX and Robin S. Barricklow of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Patrick
W. Barricklow of South Bend and Brian E. Barricklow of Florida;
great granddaughter, Nichole Barricklow; and her aunt Sally
Asche of Hagerstown.
She was also preceded in death by her parents; her brothers,
Carl and Wayne Stevens; and her half-sisters, Pauline, Wenonah,
Beverly, Laverne, and Frances.
Mrs. Barricklow was a 1939 graduate of Holton High School and
received her BA degree from Franklin College in 1943. She received
her MS degree from Indiana University in 1965. She taught school
in Ripley County for 34 years in the Osgood, Napoleon, Holton,
Cross Plains, Versailles, and South Ripley school districts.
Mrs. Barricklow was a 71 year member of the Dabney Baptist Church
where she taught Sunday School and worked in the ABWM and was
also a past president of the Sand Creek Association ABWM. She
was a member and past Worthy Matron of the Versailles Eastern
Star and a former member of the Ripley County Harmonettes.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 11
a.m. at the Dabney Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Bell officiating.
Burial will be in the Riverview Cemetery at Aurora. Visitation
will be on Friday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral
Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services on
Saturday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Dabney
Baptist Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Indiana
in care of the funeral home.
Lawrence H. Granger
Lawrence H. Granger, 88, of Osgood, passed away on Tuesday,
October 9, 2007.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 10
a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with
Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Visitation will be from 9

Harvey Amm
Harvey Amm, 94, of Sunman, passed away on Tuesday, October 16,
2007 at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was
born on April 17, 1913 in Dearborn County, the son of Edward
and Margaret Brandt Amm. He married Helen Huber on August 1,
1936 and she preceded him in death on September 19, 1985.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Jones and her husband
Oliver of Greensburg and Janet Bodenburg and her husband Estel
of Napoleon; five grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; and
sister, Hilda Benning of Sunman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Irene Thomas;
brothers, Vernon and Delmer Amm.
Mr. Amm retired from farming and was a member of St. Jacob United
Church of Christ Blue Creek. He also served as president
of the Local Farmers Mutual Fire and Lightening Insurance Company.
Visitation is being held today, Thursday, October 18 from 4-8
p.m. at Cook Funeral Home in Sunman. Funeral services will be
held on Friday, October 19 at 11 a.m. at the St. Jacob United
Church of Christ Blue Creek with Rev. Craig Amlin, Pastor
of St. Jacob UCC Blue Creek. Burial will be in the church
cemetery. Memorials may be given to the St. Jacob Cemetery Fund.

Lawrence H. Granger
Lawrence H. Granger, 88, of Osgood, passed away on Tuesday,
October 9, 2007, at the home of his daughter near Deputy. He
was born at Enochsburg Falls, Vermont on July 6, 1919, the son
of Alfred and Aldea Pollender Granger. He was married to Matilda
Corson on December 27, 1947 and she preceded him in death on
May 23, 2004.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathy Hansen and her husband,
Kevin, of Deputy; four sons, Dennis and his wife Lisa of Huntsville,
TX, Kenneth and his wife Janet of Greenwood, Rick and his wife
Kathy of Jacksonville, FL, and Jack Granger of Milan; 13 grandchildren;
seven great grandchildren; his niece Jo Anne Hoover of Gilbert,
SC; and nephew, Ron Fell of Lexington, SC.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Louis and
George Granger; and his sister, Loretta Fell.
Mr. Granger was an Army veteran of WWII where he served in Normandy
and Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal. He was a
member of St. Johns Catholic Church in Osgood and was
a former Maintenance Supervisor for Crown Zellerbach in Greensburg.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 20 at 10
a.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with
Father Frank Eckstein officiating. Visitation will be from 9
a.m. until time of services. Military honors will be conducted
at the funeral home by the Osgood American Legion. Memorials
may be given to the Ripley County Humane Society in care of

Barbara Ann Peace Milam
Barbara Ann Peace Mi-lam, 51, of Memphis, TN, formerly of Versailles,
passed away on Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at the Med Hospital
in Memphis, TN. She was born on March 31, 1956, the daughter
of Russell and Ethel Peace of Osgood. She married Gary Milam
of Jackson, TN in 1980, and he survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Angela; one son, Matthew;
her parents; three sisters, Doris (Mike) Stephens of Versailles,
Nancy (Tom) Truesdel and Angie (Phil) Kimbrell of Cross Plains.
Mrs. Milam and her hus-band lived in Memphis, TN for 27 years.
She graduated in 1974 from South Ripley High School and in 1986
from University of Memphis with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
She was co-president of Community Management of Memphis.
Funeral services were held on Friday, October 5 at the Browns
United Methodist Church in Jackson, TN, with burial in the church
cemetery. Lawrence-Sorenson Funeral Home in Jackson, TN was
in charge of arrangements.
Charles H. Rork
Charles H. Rork, 53, of Versailles, passed away on Tuesday,
October 9, 2007. The family will greet relatives and friends
from 9:30 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m.,
all at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville. Memorials may
be given to the Delaware Volunteer Fire Department.

Carolyn Ann Baker
Carolyn Ann Baker, 69, of Farmers Retreat, passed away on Thursday,
September 27, 2007 at the Waters of Dillsboro. She was born
on September 1, 1938 in Milan, the daughter of Marwin and Mable
Taylor Luke. She married James Baker in 1957 and they became
lifelong resi-dents of the Dills-boro/Farmers Retreat area.
Survivors include four children, Russell (Shannon) Baker, of
LaGrange; William (Rachel) Baker, of Dillsboro; Melissa (Jay)
Walston, of Dillsboro; Pamela (Tom) Lewis, of Moores Hill; 12
grandchildren; and one sister, Joanne Holt. She was preceded
in death by her hus-band, James Baker in 1991 and her parents.
Mrs. Baker graduated from Dillsboro High School in 1956 and
attended Cos-metology College for one year. Besides being a
beauti-cian, Carolyn made wedding dresses and wedding cakes
for many people in the area. She was also involved in a logging
business with her husband, and worked for five years for Congressman
Lee Hamilton. She was also a tour guide for Stewart Tours for
several years. Mrs. Baker was a member of St. Johns Lu-theran
Church in Farmers Retreat, and the quilting club of Lawrenceburg.
Funeral services were held on Monday, October 1 at the St. Johns
Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat. Memorials may be given to
the St. Johns Lutheran Cemetery Fund or to the Ladies
Mission Kitchen Fund of St. Johns Lutheran Church. Ulrich-Filter-DeVries
Funeral Home in Dillsboro was in charge of arrangements.
Juanita F. Bell
Juanita F. Bell, 80, of Versailles, formerly
of Indianapolis, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2007 at
the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison. She was
born at Indianapolis on January 23, 1927, the daughter of Carl
and Halcie Hutchison Bell.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother Lyndal.
Ms. Bell was a switchboard operator with Aetna Life in Indianapolis
for 45 years. She was a member of the Shelby Christian Church
and the Eastern Star.
Visitation is being held today, Thursday, October 4 at 10 a.m.
at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with minister
Randy Thieman of the Shelby Christian Church officiating and
funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. Burial will
be in the Shelby Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Shelby

Albert Halcomb
Albert Lewis Halcomb, 82, of O'Fallon, Ill., born April 17,
1925, in Whitesburg, Ky., died Sunday, Sept. 30, 2007, in O'Fallon,
Ill.
Mr. Halcomb was the former president of the Fairview Heights
Lions Club, past Post Commander of VFW 8677 in Fairview Heights,
a member of the VFW Honor Guard, and a U.S. Navy veteran who
served during World War II. Albert enjoyed fishing, hunting,
and gardening, but his favorite times were those that were spent
with his family.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Clara Jean, nee Keistler,
Halcomb; parents, James "Popeye" and Loretta, nee
Claudel, Halcomb; and a brother, Doug Halcomb.
Surviving are his children, Dan (Marie) Halcomb of Osgood, Charles
Halcomb of Osgood, Gary (Diana) Halcomb of Belleville, Ill.,
Joy (Joe) Cole of Milan, Penny (Chuck) Schornick of Osgood,
Gayla McAllister of Osgood, and Lisa (James) Barrett of O'Fallon,
Ill.; a brother, George (Shirley) Halcomb of Versailles, Ind.;
two sisters, Orella Whicker of Indianapolis, and Lou Hendricks,
Indianapolis; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and
former wife, Faye Demaree.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007,
at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Ill.

Norma Marie Woods Whalen, 75, of Madison,
passed away on Monday, October 1, 2007. Funeral services will
be held on Friday, October 5 at 1 p.m. at Morgan & Nay Funeral
Centre in Madison with burial in the Indiana Veterans Memorial
Cemetery.
David Lee Willard, Jr.
David Lee Willard, Jr., 33, New Point, passed away on Monday,
October 1, 2007. Funeral services will be held on Saturday,

Inez Repasy
Inez Repasy, 78, of Osgood, passed away on Tuesday, October
2, 2007 at the Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville.
She was born at Ned, Kentucky on August 13, 1929 the daughter
of Malcolm H. and Nancy Combs Turner. She was married to John
J. Repasy on December 5, 1961 and he preceded her in death on
September 10, 1997.
Survivors include one daughter, Tonya Benham and her husband
Kenny of Osgood; stepson, John R. Repasy of Cincinnati, OH;
grandchildren, Jonathan and Hannah Benham also of Osgood; one
brother, Paul Turner; and two sisters, Joyce Croley of Cincinnati,
OH, and Olleta Angel of FL. She was also preceded in death by
her parents, her brother Paul Turner, and her sisters, Faye
Gibson and Audrey Reed.
Mrs. Repasy was a former resident of Cincinnati. She has previously
worked at the Palm Beach Clothing Co. in Newport, KY and was
also a homemaker.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 3 p.m. at
the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles with Rev.
Garland Rudd of the Cedar Creek Community Church officiating.
Burial will be in the Benham Cemetery. Visitation will be on
Thursday from 2 p.m. until time of services. Memorials may be
