General election set for Tuesday

Residents living in the towns of Batesville, Holton, Milan and Versailles will have the opportunity to vote in the general election next Tuesday, November 6. Polls will be open from 6:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.

Voters in the town of Versailles are the only ones who will see a change in polling places. The new place to vote for those in Johnson Township Precincts 1, 2, and 3, will be at the Versailles Masonic Lodge, just a block over from the former polling place, Tyson United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall.

Those voting in Adams Township, Precinct 3 will vote at the Knights of Columbus in Batesville. Franklin Township, Precinct 3, voters will go to the St. Charles Church, Milan. Laughery Township voters in Ward 1, Precincts 1,2, and Ward 2, Precinct 1, will all vote at the Knights of Columbus, Batesville; Ward 3, Precincts 1 and 2 voters will go to the Batesville Public Library. Those voting in Otter Creek Township will go to the Holton Community Center (Town Hall); and Washington voters in Precinct 2 will vote at the St. Charles Church, Milan.

For Batesville the choices will be: Juanita (Dee Dee) Kaiser, Republican and Richard C. (Rick) Fledderman, Democrat for Mayor; Ronald C. Weigel, Democrat, is running unopposed for Clerk-Treasurer; Joseph Radvansky, Republican and John L. Kellerman II, Democrat for Judge of the City Court; Donald F. (Dogger) Dickey, Jr., Republican, and Gene Lambert, Democrat, for Common Council At Large; Herman J. (Ham) Struewing, Republican is running for Common Council, District 1; William C. (Bill) Hines, Republican, and Ed Hunter, Democrat for Common Council District 2; Robert (Tuba) Narwold, Republican, and Douglas C. Amberger, Democrat for Common Council District 3; and Brad Dreyer, Republican, and Beth Scheele Meyers, Democrat for Common Council District 4.

The town of Holton will see these choices on the ballot: Krista L. Bartosz, Republican, and Jodi N. Rowekamp, Democrat for Clerk-Treasurer; three town council members will be elected from the following: Angi Farrell, republican, Paul Hughes, Republican, Ryan Lauber, Republican, Robert G. Furst, Democrat, Lisa L. McConnell, Democrat, Wilma Jean Myers, Democrat and Ronald G. Palmer, Independent.

The town of Milan will have these candidates to choose from: Gladys M. Moody is running unopposed on the Democrat ticket for Clerk-Treasurer; three council members will be chosen from the following: Robert L. (Bob) Branigan, Republican, Paul Hildebrand, Republican, Matthew W. (Matt) Huffman, Republican, and Jim Bode, Democrat.
Versailles residents will have the following choices: Michelle L. Sellers, Republican and Kiersten Libby, Democrat on the ticket for Clerk-Treasurer; James R. (Jim) Waldo, Republican and Cheryl A. Richmond, Democrat for Judge of the Town Court; three council members will be chosen from the following: Denessa (Dee Dee) Benkie, Republican, John J. Holzer, Republican, Sue K. Meisberger, Republican, and James E. Taul, Democrat.

Ripley County Clerk Ginger Bradford reminds voters to bring photo ID, which will be required to cast a ballot. The Versailles License Branch will be open Monday, November 5 from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Tuesday, November 6, from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to assist those needing photo identification for voting purposes. If you are applying for a new identification card in the State of Indiana there is a list of documentation you will need to bring to the license branch.
