Ripley County well represented at 2007 ORVC Fall Sports Awards Banquet

The Ohio River Valley Conference, (ORVC), held their annual Fall Sports Awards Banquet at the Madison Pines Restaurant on Wednesday, November 7. Athletes of three Ripley County schools of Jac-Cen-Del, Milan and South Ripley were well represented when announced '07 Award Winners were identidied to be recognized.
The remaining schools making up the seven school member conference are; Madison Shawe Menorial, Rising Sun, Southwestern Hanover and Switzerland County.
South Ripley High School, as the host for this year's event led the the ceremonies. Principal Bob Meyer emceed the event, assisted by Assistant Principal Bev Ester and Athletic Director Debbie Jett.
Calling the buffet and awards program to order, Principal Meyer introduced Assistant Ester who offered the blessing before the meal.
Following the meal, Meyer introduced the specific award winners, coaches and athletic achievements of the different teams' seasons, as Ester and Jett presented winners with their awards, trophies and medals.
Boys Soccer Awards
The All Conference Soccer Team members included Ripley County players; Brock Billman, David Busch and Kellen Stolze of the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles, South Ripley Raider Mitchell Krall, and Milan Indian TJ Shannon.
Other members of the ORVC soccer team included Devin Armstrong and Nathan Hackman of the Switzerland County Pacers. Tregan Roberts of the Shawe Hilltoppers, Myles Hornsby and Cory Fogle of the Rising Sun Shiners and Southwestern Hanover teammates; Miles Courtney, Ryan Gray and Philllip Jobe.
Named as Boys' Varsity ORVC co-champions were the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles and the Southwestern Hanover Rebels.
Soccer "Co-Coach of the Year" awards were presented to Mark Jones of the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles and David Bramer of the Southwestern Hanover Rebels, and Myles Hornsby of the Rising Sun Shiners was named the 2007 ORVC Mental Attitude Award winner.
Girls Volleyball Awards
The All Conference Volleyball Team members included; Milan Lady Indians Kady Alloway, Danessa Cutter, Kaity Barton and Jennifer Wullenweber, Southwestern Lady Rebels Danielle Clark, Sarah Stalcup and Stephanie Stalcup, South Ripley Lady Raiders Erica Ester and Janna Lloyd, with teamate Kellie Collier named the Mental Attitude Award winner, and Rising Sun Shiner's Diana Geibler, Jessica Hussong, Kelci Lange and Aryn Peters. Rising Sun Coach Keith Majewski was named "Coach of the Year" as his varsity girls' team were the 2007 ORVC Champions.
Girls Cross Country Awards
All Conference Girls' Cross Country Team members earn their way onto the All ORVC team by placing among the top 12 runners during the ORVC race.
Earning those spots in the order they finished were; Amber Meli of SC, Kati Burch of SwH, Sam White of JCD, Sally Bell of SwH, Caitlyn Bowman of RS, Melanie Berry and Jenifer Patrick of SR, Chelsea Bowman of RS, Katie Dickey of Milan, Jessilyn DeWitt of SR, Andrea Brogan of SC and Shelby McNeese of RS.
The Girls ORVC CC Champs were the Rising Sun Lady Shiners behind their coach, Pam McClure, named "Coach of the Year". The Mental Attitude award winner was Kati Burch of the Southwestern Hanover Lady Rebels.
Boys Cross Country Awards
All Conference Boys Cross Country Team members also earned their way onto the team by placing as one of the top 12 runner during the ORVC race.
Earning those spots in the order they finished were; Clay Meyer and Tray Meyer of the Switzerland County Pacers, Josh Dickey of Milan, Brenden Siekman of the Rising Sun Shiners, Corey McFarland of SC, Ben Montgomery and Zack Grossman of the South Ripley Raiders, Derek Lunsford of Jac-Cen-Del Eagles, Wes Trapp of SwH, Josh Hon of SC, Jay Druba of the Southwestern Hanover Rebels and Andrew Pulliam of the Rising Sun Shiners.
The Switzerland County Pacers were the 2007 Champs and their coach, Mark Boggs was named "Coach of the Year".
The Mental Attitude Award winner for the 2007 Boys Cross Country season was Jay Druba of the Southwestern Hanover Rebels.
Following the presentations and photo shoot, Principal Meyer wished all a safe return home and welcomed the winter sports seasons coming.
