2008 Ripley County Tourney draw held

In an annually held luncheon meeting, held at the Cricket Ridge Golf Course Restaurant at Batesville, Ripley County High School representatives and local news media met for the 2008 RCT draw.

Batesville High School Athletic Director Mark Ferguson opened the meeting with introductions of those in attendance, as many had changed from last years attenders. Batesville Assistant Principal Sherri Preston offered a blessing for the buffet style meal.
Following lunch, Ferguson took the lead once again presenting information about upcoming changes and opened the opportunity for others to offer their suggestions. The meeting then proceeded to RCT plans and the draw.

During the draw, Milan and Batesville were slated to play the opening games of tournament action for each of the five contests, setting Jac-Cen-Del and South Ripley to follow with the second game at each venue site.

Ripley County Girls Varsity Tournament
Girl's action will be played at the Milan High School gym commencing at 6 p.m., with the Milan Lady Indians - coached by Jeff Stutler, in battle against the Batesville Lady Bulldogs - coached by Jason Slopsema.
The second game of the evening will commence around 7:45 p.m., between the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles - coached by Scott Smith and the South Ripley Lady Raiders - coached by Ashlee Miller.
The consolation game is set for a 6 p.m. onset on Friday night, January 4, with the girls' championship match to follow.

Ripley County Boys Varsity Tournament
Games will be played at the Batesville High School gym, commencing at 6 p.m. with the Milan Indians - coached by Randy Combs in battle with the hosting Batesville Bulldogs - coached by Mel Siefert.
The second game of the evening will commence around 7:45 p.m.between the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles - coached by David Bradshaw and the South Ripley Raiders - coached by Scott Holdsworth.

Ripley County Boys Reserve Tournament

Games will be played at the South Ripley High School gym on Saturday, January 5, commencing at 10 a.m. The slated opening battle will be between the Milan Indians - coached by Mike Myers, against the Batesville Bulldogs - coached by Bryan Helvie.
The second game of the morning, beginning at 11:30 a.m. will pit the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles - coached by Steve Narwold, against the South Ripley Raiders - coached by Kendall Sheets.
The championship game will follow the completion of game two, as their is no consolation game.
Boys' JV games entry is $5.00 at the door for the days events.

Ripley County Girls Reserve Tournament
Reserve Girl's games will be played at the Batesville High School gym on Saturday, January 5, commencing at 10 a.m. The opener slates the Milan Lady Indians - coached by Karisa Voss in battle against the hosting Batesville Lady Bulldogs - coached by Elliot Tekulve.
The second game, commencing around 11:30 a.m. slates the Jac-Cen-Del Lady Eagles - coached by Matt McNew against the South Ripley Lady Raiders - coached by Thom Conover.
Girls reserve championship game will follow as their will be no consolation game.
Girls' JV entry is $5.00 for all sessions at the door.

Rip. Co. Freshman Boys Tournament
Freshman action begins on Saturday, January 5, at 10 a.m., at the Jac-Cen-Del High School. In the opener, the Milan Indians - coached by Mark Garrett engage in battle against the Batesville Bulldogs - coached by Darrick Cox.
Game two pits the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles - coached by Roy Thomas against the South Ripley Raiders - coached by Brad Samples, commencing around 11:30 a.m.
The championship game will follow as there is no consolation contest. Boys' freshman games entry is $5.00 at the door.

*DOORS WILL OPEN AT GAME SITES 1 HOUR BEFORE THE FIRST SCHEDULED GAME.

JCD Eagle varsity boys trim Chargers during homecoming, then devastate Trinity Lutheran

Continuing with their winning momentum of the onset of the 2007-2008 basketball season, the Jac-Cen-Del Eagle varsity boys squad defended their undefeated season, with a fourth victory at home over the North Decatur Chargers on Friday, December 7 followed by a commanding defeat of the Cougars at Trinity Lutheran on Saturday, December 8.
The Eagles were victorious with a 7 point margin, 50-43 at the final horns sounding at home after making the North Decatur Chargers victim number 4 of the year, then proceeded to finish their weekend double header with a double plus out scoring of Trinity Lutheran at Trinity High School, 64-27.
The Charger battle presented a rough game, but the Eagles toed the mark and put their wings to the wind, soaring once again to a victory at the Eagles nest to keep their perfect beginning on track.
Balance again proved to be a strong asset for the Eagles, as many different players can and do step up to meet the challenge as preaented to them.
