Pictured center are Jacob Jines of Holton,
son of Paul and Carol Jines, and Lily Anne Welch , daughter
of Alan and Crystal Welch of Versailles. They were named
Straw Hat Sam and Sun Bonnet Sue 2008 at the Holton Jamboree
on Friday night, June 20. Contestants in the Straw Hat Sam
Contest, who received gifts are also pictured, left, Aidan
Green, Versailles, son of Heather and Trent Green and right,
Travis Lee, Versailles, son of Kevin and Rebecca Lee. The
winners received trophies and all pictured received buckets
with sand tools. The contest was coordinated by Sandy Rice
and sponsored by owners of the Holton Food Mart, Steve and
Sharon Rees. Those attending the Jamboree were treated to
several bands and a variety of games for the children. There
were hourly raffles with numerous prizes given away throughout
the two-day event.
