Action taken at council mtg.

The Ripley County Council had a full agenda at their November meeting. The first hour was spent reviewing the 2009 budgets for various entities. The council recessed for a LOIT (Local Option Income Tax) hearing, where they made the unanimous decision to have no additional tax under LOIT for 2009.
Several items were taken care of for the Ripley County Parks & Recreation, represented at the meeting by Julie Brancamp, park manager. They included: $425, rental deposits; $100 special event, to appropriate the donation received from Osgood Kiwanis Club; $200 from special events to appropriate donation from Osgood Lions Club for Christmas Walk; $500 from special events, to appropriate a grant received from the Ripley County Community Foundation for Christmas decorations; $441.74 was moved from liability insurance line item to gas and diesel; $1200 was moved from workman’s comp. to water and gas. All decisions were unanimous.

Additional appropriations approved included:

• $40,000 for the GIS Program from a grant from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation to purchase the final layer for the GIS system.

• $20,000 from Group Insurance to Contractual Services.

• $8,500 from SISWD for their share of personnel expenses.

• $10,000 for salt and $10,000 for cinders, funds appropriated from FEMA for anticipated expenses for the upcoming winter season.

• The sheriff requested $17,500 from the garage and motors to pay bills through December 31. This was tabled from the last meeting and $3,000 from the Out of County housing to the institutional and medical fund.

• Pat Thomas, Ripley County Health Department, requested $1,419.74 be transferred from the Medical Professional Liability fund to Group Insurance fund.

All budgets were unanimously adopted by the council as well as the 2009 salary ordinance.
