Terry Keith Griffith, 60, of Pleasant, passed away on Sunday,
November 23, 2008. Funeral services will be held Saturday,
November 29, at 11 a.m. at Haskell & Morrison Funeral

Loredith (Bea) Rudd
Loredith (Bea) Rudd, 80, of North Vernon passed away Sunday,
November 16, 2008 at her home. She was born at Cannel City
in Morgan County, Kentucky on June 28, 1928 the daughter of
G. B. and Ora Francis Nickell. She was married to Rev. Garland
Rudd on April 17, 1948 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son Ronald (Ginny) Rudd of Westport;
one daughter, Sheila (Dennis) Schuler of North Vernon; 8 grandchildren
and 9 great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lavodis Walton and
Eliza-beth McPherson both of Fairborn, Ohio, Lillian Per-kins
of Malone, Kentucky, and Catherine Ferry of Yel-low Springs,
Ohio; two brothers, Edsel Nickell of Fairborn, Ohio and James
(Bud) Nickell of Lexington, Kentucky. She was preceded in
death by her parents, her daughter Gail Leudeke, and her brothers
Venice, Denzil, and Emzil Nickell.
Mrs. Rudd was a home-maker and had worked by her husbands
side in pastoring the Cedar Creek Community Church near Osgood
since 1963.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 19 at 10:30
a.m. at the Cedar Creek Community Church. Burial will be in
the Vernon Cemetery. Visitation is being held today, Tuesday
from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles
and from 9:30 a.m. until time of services Wednesday at the
church. Memorials may be given to the Cedar Creek Community
Church in care of the funeral home.

Bruce E. Dickman, Sr.
Bruce E. Dickman, Sr., 77, of Batesville, passed away on Friday,
November 7, 2008 at Margaret Mary Hospital. He was born March
13, 1931 in Batesville, the son of Garnet (nee: Nickell) and
Theodore Dickman. He married Eileen Youngman on April 21,
1956 at St. Maurice Church in Napoleon and she survives.
Other survivors include: daughters: Linda Case of Naples,
FL, and Mary Jo Kuntz of Batesville; sons: Bruce Dickman,
Jr., Joe Dickman, and Jerry Dickman all of Batesville, and
Kurt Dickman of Milan; sisters: Juanita Nobbe of Oldenburg,
Helen Nobbe of Hamburg; brother: Larry Dickman of Napoleon;
17 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded
in death by his parents and granddaughters, Laura Dickman
and Elizabeth Kuntz.
Mr. Dickman served in the navy during the Korean War. After
the service he spent 43 years at Hill-Rom as a supervisor
before retiring in 1994. He was a member of Holy Family Church
in Oldenburg, and an avid hunter and fisherman.
Funeral services were held on Tuesday, November 11 at Holy
Family Church with Rev. David Kobak O.F.M. officiating. Burial
was in the church cemetery with military graveside rites conducted
by the Batesville V.F.W. Post #3183 and the Prell-Bland American
Legion Post #271. The family requests memorials be given to
the Holy Family Cemetery Fund or the Holy Family Religious
Education Fund.
Mollie Hendricks
Mollie Hendricks, 92, of North Vernon, passed away on Saturday,
November 8, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday,
November 12 at Dove-Sharp & Rudicel Funeral Home in North
Vernon. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 11 at
the funeral home and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of
services. Burial will be in Dupont Cemetery. Memorials may
be given to the American Cancer Society or American Heart

Mable Mae Gunter
Mable Mae Gunter, 77, Batesville, passed away on Wednesday,
November 5, 2008. Funeral services were held on Saturday,
November 8 at Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville. Burial was
in the Adams Church Cemetery. Meyers Funeral Home in Batesville
was in charge of arrangements.
Louise J. Laaker
Louise J. Laaker, 84, of Dillsboro (Farmers Retreat),
passed away on Sunday, November 9, 2008 at Ripley Crossing
in Milan. She was born August 25, 1924 in Alexandria, KY,
the daughter of Henry Lauer and Martha Sand Lauer. She married
Delver Laaker on December 30, 1944 and he preceded her in
death on September 12, 1969.
Survivors include son, Garry (Patricia) Laaker, of Cincinnati,
OH; two grand-sons, Jason (Kimberly) La-aker, and Adam (Katie)
La-aker; two great granddaugh-ters, Jordyn and Ashley; her
brother, Robert Lauer of Er-langer, KY; two sisters-in law,
Luella Ropers and Mary Lauer.
Mrs. Laaker was em-ployed at Schenley Distillery as a line
worker from 1963 until she retired in 1989. She was a long
time member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Farmers
Retreat.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 12 at 11
a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat
with Pastor Richard Wilke officiating. Burial will be in St.
Johns Lutheran Cemetery in Farmers Retreat. Visitation
will be at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 until 11 a.m.
Memorials may be given to the church or to Dillsboro Life
Squad. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro is in charge
of ar-rangements.
Stanley A. Hoff
Stanley A. Hoff, 61, of St. Peters, passed away on November
6, 2008. Funeral mass was held on Monday, November 10 at St.
Peters Church. Burial was in St. Peters Cemetery with military
honors given by St. Joseph Post #446 American Legion, St.
Leon. Memorials may be given to the Leukemia Society or to
St. Peters Church. Cook Funeral Home in Sunman was in charge

Everett L. (Butch) Russell
Everett L. (Butch) Russell, 61, of Missouri, formerly of the
Moores Hill area, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 10. Burial
was in the Greendale Cemetery in Lawrenceburg. Memorials may
be given to the family. Sibbett-Moore Funeral Home in Moores
Hill was in charge of arrangements.
Robert C. "Duke" Kohlmeier
Robert C. "Duke" Kohlmeier, 83, of Milan, passed
away on Thursday, November 6, 2008 at Bartholomew Regional
Hospital in Columbus. He was born on March 19, 1925, in Milan,
the son of Walter and Molly (Thompson) Kohlmeier. He married
Wanda Winters Kohlmeier on August 24, 1947 and she preceded
him in death on October 16, 1996.
Survivors include son, Jay Kohlmeier of Bloomington; daughters,
Robin Campbell of Columbus and Jana Williams of Edinburg;
two sisters, Elizabeth Wichmann of Hilton Head, South Carolina
and Jean Stute of Milan; seven grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
Mr. Kohlmeier was a former co-owner of the Milan Furniture
Factory, and later retired from Dri-Clime Infra-red Oven Co.
He was a member of the Milan United Methodist Church; Milan
F&AM #31; Milan American Legion Post #235; the ACACIA
Fraternity of Indiana University; and was a pilot in WWII
in the Army Air Corps. Mr. Kohlmeier was an avid flyer and
golfer.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, November 11,
at 11 a.m. at Milan First United Methodist Church with Pastor
Stormy Scherer-Berry officiating. Burial will be in the New
Craven Cemetery in Milan. Memorials may be given to Milan
United Methodist Church. Military rites at gravesite by Milan
Legion Post 235. Laws-Carr Moore Funeral Home in Milan is

Brayden Ray Dudley
Brayden Ray Dudley, 1 week old infant son of John and Nicole
Dudley, Aurora, passed away on Wednesday, November 5, 2008.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 8. Burial was
in Forest Hill Cemetery at Moores Hill. Memorials may be given

Evelyn A. Menchhofer
Evelyn A. Menchhofer, 88, of Osgood, passed away on Monday,
November 10, 2008, at the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville.
She was born at Seymour on February 28, 1920 the daughter
of Charles and Ethel Bare Parker. She was married to Floyd
Menchhofer on April 23, 1941 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, William (Emma) Menchhofer
of Osgood; five grandchildren, Tom (Melissa) Menchhofer of
Holton, Tammy (Randall) Miller of Versailles, Teresa (Alan)
Kramer, Tina (Marvin) Kramer, and Todd (Sharon) Menchhofer
all of Greensburg; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn
(Burton) Rodman of Florida and Marilyn (Roger) Christenson
of Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents and
her half-sister, Blanche.
Mrs. Menchhofer was a 1939 graduate of Osgood High School
and was a member of the Tanglewood Baptist Church. She was
formerly employed with a Banners 5 & 10, Walts
Hardware, Vollmers Dairy Way, and the Ripley County
Farm Bureau, all in Osgood.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 13 at
11 a.m. at the Tanglewood Baptist Church with Rev. Russell
Stephens officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Wednesday, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the
Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10
a.m. until time of services Thursday at the church. Memorials

Martha Pauline Pieratt
Martha Pauline Pieratt, 86, of North Vernon, passed away at
10:30 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008, at St. Vincent Hospital
in Indianapolis. She was born on December 6, 1921, in Owsley
County, Kentucky, the daughter of Frank and Ruth Carter Clark.
She married Ford Tipton Pieratt on February 24, 1940 and he
preceded her in death.
Survivors include one son, Marty (Cathy) Pieratt of Butlerville;
two daughters, Sonja Leah Rose of Carmel and Glorianna Joy
(Gary) Robbins of Butlerville; two brothers, Danny (Karen)
Gadd and Frank (Betty) Clark of North Vernon; three sisters,
Olive (Curtis) Caplinger of Southport, Ola (Bill) Curry of
North Vernon and Grace (Ronald) LeVan of Fishers; nine grandchildren;
and five great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by
her stepfather, Nick Gadd; her mother, Molly Ruth Gadd, her
husband, Ford Tipton Pieratt; one sister, Thelma Schenck;
two brothers, Oliver Gadd and David Gadd; and two grandsons,
Joshua Robbins and Jeremiah Robbins.
Mrs. Pieratt was employed as a food manager at Jennings Community
Hospital; Muscatatuck State Hospital in dietary; and was the
owner and operator of the Butlerville Drug Store and Marthas
Soda & Snack Shop, from 1957 to 1972. During WWII, her
primary responsibility was to make military clothes.
She was a graduate of Newport Kentucky High School and a 1971
graduate of Southeast Indiana Vocational School. She was a
member of Bethel Baptist Church and of the Jennings Community
Hospital Guild. Mrs. Pieratt was a 50-year member of the North
Vernon Order of Eastern Star #183 and a former Worthy Matron.
She was also a member of the Dietary Managers Association
and the Mennonite Missionary Society of the Butlerville Mennonite
Church.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 12:00 noon
at Bethel Baptist Church in North Vernon, with the Reverends
Joe Mayes, Richard Schenck, and Jon Beck officiating. Visitation
will also be at 11:00 a.m. until time of services on Tuesday
at the church. Burial will be at the Vernon Cemetery.

John Arnold Lewis
John Arnold Lewis, 91, of Milan, passed away on Thursday,
October 30, 2008 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. He was born
on February 25, 1917 in Kentucky, the son of Edward and Florence
(Rose) Lewis. He married Adeline (Puente) Lewis on November
1, 1938 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, James (Myrna) Lewis of Rushville;
one daughter, Doris Ann (Douglas) Bauer of Cincinnati, Ohio;
grandchildren, Debra Saylor, Don, Dave, Denise and Dan Bauer,
Darlene Perkins, James Jr., Robert, and Tim Lewis, Jenni McAdams
and Ruth LaFevers; and 17 great grandchildren. He was preceded
in death by brothers: Clarence, Floyd, Earl, Estile, Prentice,
Marvin and Kash Lewis and sister, Denzel Lewis.
Mr. Lewis was a aluminum molder for Hater Co. in Cincinnati.
Funeral services were held on Monday, November 3 at Laws-Carr-Moore
Funeral Home in Milan. Burial was in the St. Charles Catholic
Cemetery in Milan. Memorials may be given to Milan Food Pantry

Jessica Robin "Jessy" Mefford
Jessica Robin "Jessy" Mefford, age 18, of Madison,
died Friday, October 31, 2008. Funeral services will be held
on Wednesday, November 5, at 11:00 a.m., at the Morgan &
Nay Funeral Centre, in Madison. Visitation is being held today,
Tuesday, from 3-8 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time
of the service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made

Robert C. Marsh, 84, of Green Township, passed away on Saturday,
November 1, 2008.
Survivors include wife, Shirley (Tarr); children: Robert,
Shawn, Colleen (the late Larry) Smith, Kevin (Sondra), and
Elma (Calvin) Schmieg; eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Joann R. Martin
Joann R. Martin, 75, of Versailles passed away Thursday, October
30, 2008 at the Kings Daughters Hospital in Madison.
She was born in Cincinnati on April 25, 1933 the daughter
of Robert and Ann Hall. She was married to Orville Martin
on January 11, 1963 and he preceded her in death on May 2,
2004.
Survivors include four sons, David (Natasha) Martin of Versailles,
Robert (Nancy) Martin of Madison, Ricky Simone of North Vernon,
and Mike Simone of Houston, Texas; one daughter Sharon Wingfield
of Humble, Texas; one stepson Gary (Kathy) Martin of Milton,
Kentucky; one stepdaughter Jeanie Martin Stroobandt of Lawrenceburg;
13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great
grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her
son Russell, and two grandsons.
Mrs. Martin was a former employee of South Ripley High School
where she worked as a cook. She was also a homemaker.
Funeral services were held Monday, November 3 at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles with Dale Day officiating. Burial
was in the Grandview Memorial Garden at Madison. Memorials
will be accepted for the family at Friendship State Bank.
Thomas C. Skelton
Thomas C. Skelton, 84, of Versailles passed away Friday, October
31, 2008 at the Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville. He was
born at Mineral Springs on September 24, 1924 the son of William
and Edith Thompson Skelton. He married Betty Miller Hoeferkamp
on November 10, 1984 and she survives.
Other survivors include one stepson David (Lisa) Hoeferkamp
of Mishawaka; one step-daughter-in-law Debbie Hoeferkamp of
New Marion; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his stepson Dennis
Hoeferkamp.
Mr. Skelton was a 32 year employee of Arvins in Columbus and
was a former resident Bartholomew County. He was a member
of the Versailles Church of Christ.
Funeral services are being held today, Tuesday, at 11 a.m.
at the Versailles Church of Christ with Dale Day officiating.
Burial will be in the Cliff Hill Cemetery at Versailles. Visitation
is also today, from 10 a.m. until time of services at the
