Napoleon looks to the new year

“We are looking for a civic minded person who likes the town of Napoleon,” said Steve Hedges, board president for the Central House. He said a chairperson is needed for the Living History event held in September.

Hedges asked the Napoleon Town Council if they knew of a person who could perform the duties of a chairperson at the regular town council meeting on Tuesday, December 9.

The chairperson will work with Hedges scheduling performers for the 2009 event, as well as being the “go to” person with knowledge of local resources. The town council members told Hedges that they will consider his request, and refer anyone interested in the position to him. Hedges reminded the board that he will need to have a chairperson by the end of the year.

In other business, the board unanimously approved the trash bid from Best Way. Even though the cost is up from last year, Clerk-Treasurer Karen Rohlfing said the rates for the residents would not increase. Best Way will replace or repair broken lids on the trash cans at no cost.

Work on the town’s website is continuing. Plans are being made to spotlight each class that went through the Napoleon School. An email link will be available to send in updates on former classmates.

Rohlfing informed the board of the Party Planning Expo to be held on Sunday, January 11 from 2-4 p.m. at the Napoleon Senior Center. According to Rohlfing, local businesses will be on hand to let the community know of their services when planning weddings, graduations, or proms.

All members were present, along with Clerk-Treasurer Rohlfing to record the meeting. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, January 13 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Napoleon Senior Center.
