Patricia Ann Rowlette
Patricia Ann Rowlette, 75, of Dillsboro, passed
away Sunday, December 21, 2008. Funeral services were held Tuesday,
Dec. 23, at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Memorials
may be given to the American Cancer Society, the American Lung
Association or to a charity of your choice.

Harold
Melvin "Hickory" Jackson
Harold Melvin "Hickory" Jackson, 88,
of Madison, passed away on Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at
Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. He was born April 5, 1920
in Canaan, the son of Harrison and Hazel Stewart Jackson. He
married Mildred R. Demaree Jackson in 1941 and she survives.
Other survivors include one son, James Darrell Jackson and wife
Phyllis of Madison; one daughter, Carolyn Beavers and husband
Jack of Lithia, FL; one brother, Merle Jackson and wife Delores
of Madison; one sister, Betty June Brown and husband Bob of
Vevay; grandchildren, Lisa White and husband Richard and Valerie
Beavers; great grandsons, Eric and Dylan White; and several
nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death
by his parents, his brothers: Carlysle, Alois and Raymond Jackson.
Mr. Jackson was raised in Canaan and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was inducted into the United States Army on October 17, 1942
in Louisville, KY, during World War II, rising to the rank of
Technician Fourth Grade while serving in Company c22nd Tank
Battalion. He fought in the battles of Rhineland, Central Europe,
the Ardennes and in the Battle of the Bulge. He was honorably
discharged on August 1, 1945, at Camp Atterbury, receiving the
EAME Theater Ribbon with 2 Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct
Medal.
He worked as a grader operator for Local 181 and traveled all
over the United States working on the Interstate System from
1945 until retiring in 1982. He attended Calvary Baptist Church;
was a fifty year member of Canaan Masonic Lodge #581 F &
AM; and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis;
the Madison VFW Post 1969.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, December 22 at 1
p.m., by Pastor Mike Hamby at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre
in Madison. Burial will follow in the Indiana Veteran's Memorial
Cemetery in Madison. Friends may call Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and
Monday from 11 a.m. until time of the service at the funeral
home in Madison. Masonic services will be conducted by Canaan
Masonic Lodge #581, F&AM on Sunday at 7 p.m. at the funeral
home. Jefferson Post 9 of the American Legion will conduct full
military honors in the chapel at the Indiana Veteran's Memorial
Cemetery in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to American
Heart Association or the Madison VFW Post 1969 Relief Fund.

Josiah McMullen
Josiah McMullen, one month old of Milan, passed away Monday,
December 15, 2008 at the Childrens Hospital in Cincinnati,
Ohio. He was born at Childrens on November 15, 2008 the
son of Robert and Jennifer Crowell McMullen and they survives.
Other survivors include one sister, Cheyene McMullen; paternal
grandparents Bob and Pam McMullen of Aurora and Cassie Metcalf
of Sunman; maternal grandparents are William and Judy Crowell
of Plainfield and John and Mary Wilson of Martinsville; paternal
great-grandparents are Charles and Jo Metcalf of Sunman, Willie
and Cosetta Davidson of Manchester, Kentucky and Bob McMullen
of Aurora; maternal great grandfather, Clarence Gunter of Napoleon.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 20 at the Cavehill
Church of God near Versailles with Bro. Pearl Cornett officiating.
Burial will be in the Hogan Hill Cemetery at Moores Hill. Visitation
will be Saturday, from 9 a.m. until time of services at the
church. Memorials may be given to the donors choice in
care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
Malcolm Roberts
Malcolm Roberts, 95, of Phoenix, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday,
December 16, 2008 in Peoria, Arizona. Funeral services are pending
at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.
Pamela Jean Underwood
Pamela Jean Underwood, 48, of Aurora, passed away Sunday, December
14, 2008. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at
Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Visitation will be
from 9-11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be
given to her grandchildren. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro
is in charge of arrangements.

Mildred Gray Hamilton, of Madison, a former Canaan resident,
passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2008. Funeral services
will be held Saturday, December 20 at 1 p.m. at Morgan &
Nay Funeral Centre in Madison. Private burial will be held at
Grandview Memorial Gardens in Madison. Visitation will be held
Saturday, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Morgan
& Nay Funeral Centre in Madison is in charge of arrangements.

Sharon
Rohrig
Sharon Rohrig, 68, of Osgood, formerly of New Marion passed
away Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at the Manderley Health Care
Center in Osgood. She was born in Three Oaks, Michigan on August
21, 1940 the daughter of Clarence and Izetta Harness Foster.
She was married to George Rohrig on March 22, 1963 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son Sammy Rohrig of Lakeland, Florida;
three daughters Georgia Albury of Riverview, Florida, Sherri
Higgins of Missouri, and Cindy Parker of Lakeland, Florida;
two step-sons George Rohrig, Jr. of Osgood and Fred Rohrig of
Pierceville; two step-daughters Sue Ellis of Dover, Florida
and Rolena Newman of Seattle; and 18 grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by her parents and her brother Eugene Foster.
Mrs. Rohrig was a member of the Holton Christian Church where
she had served as church clerk and secretary. She was also a
member of the Mothers Class. She had been a secretary
for the Sterchy Furniture Company and a bookkeeper for Beard
Real Estate both in Lakeland, Florida.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 5 at 11 a.m.
at the Holton Christian Church with Bro. Bob McCreary officiating.
Burial will be in the New Marion Cemetery. Visitation is being
held today, Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter
Funeral Home in Versailles and from 10 a.m. until time of services
Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the Holton Christian
Church or the New Marion Cemetery in care of the funeral home.

Danny Charles Johnson, 61, of Batesville, formerly
of Brookville, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008. Funeral
services are being held today, Thursday, at 7 p.m. at Meyers
Funeral Home in Batesville. Cremation to follow. Visitation
