ORVC Winter Sports Awards Banquet held in Rising Sun
Gary Franklin, Sports
Writer
On Wednesday evening, March 11, the ORVC held its annual
winter sports awards banquet. With Rising Sun HS in charge
of ORVC events this year, as a change of pace, the location
was moved to the Rising Sun Community Center and the former
buffet was replaced by a catered meal. A very nice setting
and a fine meal made for a positive evening's entertainment
highlighted by some of the areas finest athletes being
rewarded for their efforts.
Emceeing the affair was Rising Sun High School Athletic
Director and Assistant Principal Noel Bostic. His first
call to order to get the program underway was a call for
prayer before the catered meal. Following the meal, Bostic
again called the program to order and elaborated on some
of the accomplishmnts of individuals in attendance.
The girls were first called (individually in alphabetical
order) to the podium to receive a certificate, where RSHS
Principal Keith Majewski placed a ribbon around each of
their necks. The young ladies were selected by ORVC coaches
voting to be part of the All-Conference team, with the
stipulation that a coach could not vote for his or her
own player, therefore making those named the consensus
of the whole conference as a unit.
(Boys selection was also done in this manner).
