US 50 was littered with debris from an accident involving this semi tractor trailer and a Ford Taurus (not pictured). Police responded to the scene west of Versailles near County Road 300 West about 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 31. Samantha McCrory, 18, of Versailles had been traveling east when for unknown reasons went left of center colliding with a westbound Freightliner being operated by William A. Parrish, 41, of Yadkinville, North Carolina. McCrory suffered internal injuries and had to be extricated from her vehicle. She was taken to Margaret Mary Community Hospital. Parrish was not injured. The roadway was closed for about three hours while emergency crews worked to clear the accident. Firemen from both the Versailles and Osgood departments put about 38 bags of product to dilute the diesel fuel that had spilled due to a ruptured fuel tank on the semi as a result of the collision. The accident is under investigation by the Ripley County Sheriff's Office, who was assisted at the scene by the Indiana State Police, Rescue 69, County Medic and Ripley County Emergency Management. Deputy Steven Sullivan was the investigating officer.
