Moores Hill woman charged after man dies in accident

A Moores Hill woman has been charged with OWI-Causing Death after a fatal hit and run accident in Dearborn County claimed the life of Daniel Thielmann Jr., 32, of Moores Hill.

Melissa Dawn Weaver, 31, has been charged in connection with the death of Thielmann after she was involved in a crash last Wednesday, May 27 on Station Hollow Road near Dillsboro. She was allegedly intoxicated when her car hit the motorcycle Thielmann was operating.

Authorities said Weaver fled the scene of the accident but was taken into custody shortly thereafter at a residence in Dearborn County.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 1 for Thielmann at the Faith Freewill Baptist Church, Moores Hill.

Thielmann leaves a wife, Irene and three sons: Austin, Nathan and Kevin and a daughter Nicole, all at home. His parents, Daniel and Marilyn Thielmann of Moores Hill, also survive, along with paternal grandparents Clarence and Emma Thielmann of St. Cloud, Minnesota.

Thielmann was employed with CitiBank in Hebron, Kentucky.
