Coach
Greg Hughes revisits the
'09 SR Raider baseball team's season
Gary Franklin, Sports Writer
According to South Ripley Raider Head Baseball Coach
Greg Hughes, following his first year at the teams lead spot,
"We,(the Raiders) had a fine year except for not winning
league or sectional. Give Tyler Jones of the Rising Sun Shiners
credit as we averaged 8 runs per game and he shut us down
for 14 innings earning 2 wins while giving up 4 hits and 0
runs.
However, over the season we raised our team batting average
by 20 points, lowered our ERA by a run, but ran into trouble
while facing Lawrenceburg Tiger pitcher Jim Faehr in our second
game in sectional action."
The Varsity Raider's overall season record ended up at 16-8
with a fine 10-2 ORVC conference showing, earning them a second
place finish.
(The two SR conference loses were to Rising Sun.)
