"Matt-itude"
becomes the
SR Raider soccer team battle cry
Gary Franklin, Sports Writer
Coach Matt Obendorf often reminded his players that
hard work with purpose goes hand in hand. That to excel at
anything one must believe first in himself, and that success
only happens when you individually work as a team and truly
believe in each other.
Attitude, that was but one of the positive attributes the
former SRHS Head Soccer Coach Matt Obendorf brought on the
field to his team, be it for practice, during a scrimmage
or in a contested season game.
With the untimely passing of Coach Matt Obendorf, this season's
team has put that drive back into their game plan with the
use of Matt and attitude to form "Matt-itude."
Practice jerseys display the phrase and the team's uniforms
are expected to have a ribbon added to them to help remind
them of the many things the former coach has meant to them
and the sport of soccer at South Ripley.
South Ripley will field a girls team as well again this season
and they too have been working hard to prepare.
