A chance meeting with Joe and David Herbert of Batesville, winners of the 2009 Doritos Crash the Super Bowl commercial contest, led to an opportunity for a lending officer at the Friendship State Bank.

Jeff Dugan, who works at the Batesville branch, met the Herberts while they were scouting locations for a how-to video for the 2010 Doritos competition.

According to Dugan, he had the opportunity to talk and “joke around,” and offered to be a new star in their production. “I’m a banker wanting to be an actor,” he said.

Dugan was surprised when he received a call asking if he was still interested in a part in the production. According to Dugan, the segment explains how to create a professional commercial on a “Crash” budget. “I only had one line,” he noted.

The Herbert brothers made advertising history when their commercial Free Doritos not only won the Doritos competition, but also the USA Today’s Ad Meter as the #1 Super Bowl commercial.

Dugan has worked in the Batesville area for nearly 20 years and has been with the Friendship State Bank for eight months. He and his wife, Janet, live in the Greensburg area along with their four sons.
“I would do it again,” said Dugan. “Everyone was very nice,” he said of the production crew and the Herbert brothers.
