Two airlifted from Monday morning crash

Just after 8 a.m. Monday morning, November 23 officers from the Ripley County Sheriff's Office responded to this head-on crash in Versailles on SR 129 near the Indiana State Police Post. Darryl Hurley, 51, of Versailles was southbound when it appeared he drove left of center and struck a northbound vehicle being operated by Duane Demaree, 72, also of Versailles. A witness stated that the southbound vehicle had veered into the oncoming traffic lane prior to the crash. Both drivers were transferred by helicopter to the University of Cincinnati Hospital. The accident is currently under investigation. Sheriff Tom Grills along with Cpl. Rob Bradley and Major David Pippin responded as well as ISP Trp. Lloyd. Other agencies responding included Versailles Fire & Rescue, Rescue 69, Rescue 30, the Ripley County Medic units, PHI Air Care, and University Air Care.
