At the December 14 Milan Town Council meeting it was announced that there are currently two board positions that will need to be filled on the park board. The announcement was made by Angela Beck, Milan park board president.

Beck also announced the formation of the Fourth of July committee with the first meeting to be held on January 17 at 2 p.m. She said the committee will continue to meet on the third Sunday of the month to coordinate and plan the annual festivities.

Those interested in taking part in the festival committee or to serve on the Milan park board can contact Beck at 812-621-2855 or email at angelabeck95@hotmail.com.

In response to a request made by the council at the November meeting, Dr. Timothy Alward, Nashville, provided a proposal which outlines projects for clean up to his property next to the town hall on Carr Street. The board unanimously agreed to request a $50,000 bond as part of the agreement to the proposal.
In the month of November, the Milan Police Department investigated two thefts, one vehicle theft and three crashes. There were 33 traffic stops, 22 assists to other agencies, and 54 calls for service. The reserve officers donated 101 hours, according to Marshal Gary Skaggs.

In other business, Marianne Wiggers was re-appointed to the Rising Sun Regional Foundation as representative for the town of Milan. A raise of 2.5% for town employees was unanimously approved. Council president Paul Hildebrand noted that the raise was lower from previous years due to cuts in the budget.

Board members in attendance included Paul Hildebrand and Robert Branigan, with Matt Huffman absent. The next meeting will be held on Monday, January 11 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Milan Town Hall.
