Edna Waters-Polver
Edna Waters-Polver, 99, of Richmond, passed away Monday, December 28, 2009. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 12, 1910, the daughter of Sarah Weeks-Chance.
Survivors include four children, Grace (Carter) Everage of Delaware, Robert (Joyce) Waters of Richmond, Bill Waters of Alabama, and Roger Waters of Liberty; 11 grandchildren, several great grandchildren; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband- Orville Waters, daughter- Ruth, two grandchildren- Danny and Debbie.
Mrs. Waters-Polver was a homemaker.

Charles F. (Bud) Tompkins
Charles F. (Bud) Tompkins, 76, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at the King’s Daughters’ Hospital in Madison. He was born in Cincinnati on January 11, 1933 the son of Charles and Helen Nees Tompkins. He was married to Katherine Kohlmeyer on February 5, 1955 and she survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Peggy (Patrick) Owens of Villa Hills, Kentucky, Beth (Mark) Hard of Kansas, Oklahoma, Kathleen (Steven) French of Osgood and Amy Hedges of Versailles, 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Wagner of West Harrison and Jennie Martin of Harrison, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Carolyn Hyser and great grandson Keith Weise.
Mr. Tompkins was a 1951 graduate of Western Hills High School in Cincinnati. He worked for 28 years as a firefighter with the Cincinnati Fire Department and was also a carpenter. He was a member of the Versailles Church of Christ and the WCEF. He volunteered his carpentry skills in building churches and ramps for those in need.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28 at 2 p.m. at the Versailles Church of Christ with Dale Day officiating. Burial will be in the Grandview Memorial Garden near Madison. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
Memorials may be given to the Versailles Church of Christ in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home, Versailles.

Odella D. Booster
Odella D. Booster, 86, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, December 22, 2009 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. She was born near Lookout on August 29, 1923, the daughter of Otto and Bertha Jager Fruchtnicht She was married to James Booster on January 18, 1944 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Kenneth (Janet) Booster of Plainfield, Illinois; two daughters, Janice (Nick) Minkler of Lynchburg, Virginia and Sally Davison of Versailles; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; and one sister, Mabel (Paul) Hunteman of Uniondale. She was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson, Eric Davidson.
Mrs. Booster was a 1940 graduate of Napoleon High School and was a lifelong member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church Napoleon. She was a homemaker and a member of the Correct Homemakers.
Funeral services will be held Monday, December 28 at 12 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Napoleon with Pastor Gary Groth officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 11 a.m. until time of services at the church. Memorials may be given to the church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Mary Elizabeth Flint
Mary Elizabeth Flint, 73, of Osgood, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009 at Decatur County Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. She was born April 6, 1936, the daughter of Lovell Everett and Diana Eudora Black Bratten. Both are deceased. She married Omer R. Flint in October of 1986 and he survives.
Other survivors include sons, Danny Shook of KY, Steve Shook of IN, and Chris Shook of VA; daughters, Jackie Amos of Holton, Sandra Norman of Lawrenceburg and Cinda Richardson of Farmers Retreat; brother, Edward Bratten of Springhill, FL; sisters, Pat Farley of FL, Billie Johnson of VA, Margaret Adams of Osgood, Kaye Franklin of West Port, and Diana Compton of Bloomington; 16 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.
Mrs. Flint worked as an LPN at the Silver Bell Nursing Home in Versailles. She was a member of the Osgood AM Legion Women’s Auxiliary.
Funeral services will be held at Neal’s Funeral Home on Saturday, December 26 with visitation from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and funeral services at 1 p.m. Burial will be in the Greendale Cemetery near Osgood. Memorials may be given to the Osgood American Legion. Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma Chase Cole

Thelma Chase Cole, 87, of Milan, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009. At her request there will be no services. Fitch-Denney Funeral Home in Lawrenceburg is in charge of arrangements.

Charles L. Little
Charles L. Little, 81, of Madison, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at the Thornton Terrace Health Campus, Hanover. He was born April 24, 1928 in Jefferson County the son of Harley and Nellie Christman Little.
Survivors include his wife Delta M. Geisler Little of Madison; two daughters, Linda Liter and husband Bill of Madison, Mary Ellen Wehner and husband Jason of Madison; one sister, Mary Alice Frazier of Madison; two sisters-in-law, Alta Asche of Osgood, Freda Ellis of Madison; four grandchildren; four great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harley and Nellie Christman Little.
Mr. Little attended the West Fork Baptist Church. He worked for the Indiana State Highway Department, for Zimmerman’s Farm Equipment and for Contel Telephone Company. He was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765, a fifty year member of the Canaan Masonic Lodge No. 581 F&AM and the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.
Visitation will be held Monday, December 21 from 4-8 p.m. and Tuesday December 22 from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, Madison. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 22 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Troy Hedges officiating. Burial will be in the Hebron Cemetery near Madison.
Memorials may be given to the Wirt Baptist Church or Hebron Cemetery Association through the funeral home.

Kaitlyn Renee Collins

Kaitlyn Renee Collins, 6, of Batesville, died Wednesday, December 16, 2009 at her home. Visitation will be held Friday, December 18 from 4-7 p.m. at the Weigel Funeral Home in Batesville with a rosary service being held at 7 p.m. Funeral services are Saturday, December 19 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Family Church in Oldenburg with Rev. David Kobak officiating. Burial will follow at St. Louis Cemetery in Batesville. Memorials may be made to the family.


Barbara D. Land

Barbara D. Land, 70, of Greensburg, passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She was born March 2, 1939 in Switzerland County, the daughter of Carl Henry Smith and Edith Opal (Warner) Clarkson. She married Larry Land on May 21, 1994 and he survives.
Other survivors include one son, Dean Alan Smith of Greensburg; one stepson, Brian Land of Somerset, Kentucky; one daughter, Patty Ann Yeager of North Vernon; one stepdaughter, Sheila M. Land of Lawrenceburg; one sister, Darlene Heeke of Aurora; 11 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Donald Ray Watts; two stepbrothers, Richard Clarkson and David Clarkson and one sister, Emily Davis.
Mrs. Land retired in August of 2001 from Elco Textron after 20 years of service. She later worked for Walmart. She was a member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Eagles Auxiliary, the VFW Auxiliary and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 18 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home in Greensburg and from 12-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 19 at the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Greensburg. Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. at the church with Rev. Dennis Wenholz officiating. Burial will follow in the Sandcreek Cemetery in Greensburg.
Memorials may be made to the Yellow Rose Patient Care Unit, c/o Methodist Health Foundation through the funeral home.

James J. Gabbard
James J. Gabbard, 75, of Port Orange, Florida passed away Saturday, December 5, 2009 at his home.
Mr. Gabbard was born in Ousley County, Kentucky. He graduated from Versailles High School in 1954. In 2005 he was inducted into the Ripley County Basketball Hall of Fame. As a graduate of Franklin College in Indiana he began his 39 years administrative education career. He completed his masters degree from both Butler and Ball State Universities. He became principal and completed his EDS degree from Indiana University. He was superintendent of Medora Community School. He received several awards for his accomplishments in education including the Sagamore of Wabash Award in 2004.
Mr. Gabbard is survived by his wife of 32 years Charlotte; three children, Lisa Wingfield of Parkersburg, WV., Kenneth Gabbard of Kalamazoo, MI., and Elizabeth Colburn of Rockford, IL.; two stepchildren, Kenneth Holtsclaw of Bloomfield, IL., and Charlotte Smith of Vincennes; two sisters, Shirley Halcomb of Versailles and Arzella Cruncleton of Myrtle Beach, SC.; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, nine brothers and sister and daughter Deanna.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 8 at 11 a.m. at the Lohman Funeral Home in Port Orange with Pastor Raymond Sieg officiating. Services will also be held in Seymour at Voss and Sons Funeral Home on Saturday, December 12 with internment at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Janet L. Russell

Janet L. Russell, 70, of Osgood, died Wednesday, December 9, 2009 at her residence. She was born March 16, 1939 in Milan the daughter of Joe and Luella (Holwadel) Keck. She married Rodney Lee Russell in 1957 and he preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky R. (Julie) Russell of Milan, Rodney D. (Sandy) Russell of Greensburg; four daughters, Pam (Robert) Fuller of Rising Sun, Patty (Keith) Abbott of Batesville, Darla (Darrell) Bockover of Westport, Donna Roberts of Napoleon; one brother, Bob (Alice) Keck of Cincinnati; 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Mrs. Russell was a member of the Holton Wesleyan Church and worked at the US Shoe Factory and Vines Poultry.
Visitation and funeral services are private.

James L. Eichler
James L. Eichler, 86, of Moores Hill and Aurora, died Monday, December 7, 2009 at Dearborn County Hospital, Lawrenceburg. He was born October 6, 1923 in Rising Sun the son of Emerson Eichler and Jeanette Carver Eichler. He married Lois Girkin in 1945. He later married Geneva Webb in 1975 and she preceded him in death in 2002.
Survivors include his son Danny Eichler of Fortville and daughter, Jeannine (Steve) Ashcraft of Guilford; two grandchildren and two great grandchildren. His wife, one sister and one brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Eichler was a lathe operator at Setco near Cincinnati for several years prior to his retirement. He was a member of the Aurora United Methodist Church.
Friends may meet his family at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro, Thursday, December 10 from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be given in his name to the Dillsboro Emergency Unit.

Betty Jean Livingston, 80, of Batesville, formerly of Moores Hill, passed away Monday, November 30, 2009.
