Several offices up for Primary Election

Next Wednesday, January 20, filing for the 2010 Primary Election will begin in the Voter Registration Office of the Ripley County Clerk’s Office, second floor of the courthouse, according to Diane Macek, election deputy.

Several offices are up for election this time. They include: assessor, auditor, prosecutor, commissioner (district 1), surveyor, sheriff, county council (districts 1,2,3, and 4), all township trustees and township board members, school board members for Jac-Cen-Del (districts 1,2 and 4), school board members for Milan schools (Franklin and Washington townships and At-Large), Republican party state convention delegates, Democratic party state convention delegates and Democratic party precinct committeemen.
Candidates for the office of county assessor must have attained the certification of a level two assessor-appraiser at the time of filing and must be a Ripley County property owner by the time office is taken.
Anyone wanting to run for a State office must file at the state level.

Anyone who needs to register to vote to be eligible to cast their ballot in the Primary Election may do so until April 5, 2010. Applications may be made in person at the Ripley County Clerk’s Office, election room, license branches, libraries, township trustees, city/town clerk-treasurers, LifeTime Resources. Applications may be obtained from the Ripley County website at www.ripleycounty.com.

Office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. closing from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch. The clerk’s office is located on the second floor of the Ripley County Courthouse in Versailles.
