Janet F. (Schwieterman) Bonta
Janet F. (Schwieterman), Bonta of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away, Sunday, January 24, 2010. She was the daughter of the late William Earl and Gertrude Meehan Schwieterman. She married Thomas L. Bonta and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include children, Jeffrey (Devona) Bonta, Gwen (Michael) Ewing, Dean (Sharon) Bonta; siblings, Earl and Stanley Schwieterman and Carol Horstmann; 11 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by parents, husband, son- Bradley Bonta; and sister- Margaret Kotzbauer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 29 at St. Margaret Mary Church North College Hill at 11 a.m. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Ione Susie Sherrill
Ione Susie Sherrill, 89, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away January 21, 2010.
Survivors include sons, Norman, Toby and Jack (Delores) Ricketts; daughters, Sandra (Melvin) Meisberger and Diana (Brad) Yoakum; numerous grandchildren including: Julie (David) Underwood of Versailles, Caroline (Jeff) Cumberworth of Holton, Debbie (Steve) Gloyd of Osgood, Brian Meisberger of Versailles and Amy (David) Fischmer of Madison; many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Paul David Ricketts; sisters, Thelma Walford and Ruth Larson; and brother, Rev. Dale Hamilton.
Visitation will be Friday, Jan. 29, from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to service. Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Cole & Garrett Funeral Home in Hendersonville. Joshua Gabbard
Joshua Samuel Gabbard, age 24, of Dillsboro, died Sunday morning, January 17, 2010 very unexpectedly at Margaret Mary Community Hospital in Batesville. He was born July 28, 1985 in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Rick Gabbard and Tina Taylor Gabbard.
Surviving are his parents, Rick Gabbard and Tina Taylor Lepolt; one brother, Gregory Lepolt II, of Cleves, OH; two sisters, Tosha Gabbard-Jines, and her husband, Jeremy, of Aurora, and Holly Lepolt, of Cleves, OH; one niece, Hailey Jines; grandparents, Walter and June Holbrock, of Ross, OH, and Ron Taylor Sr; great grandmother, Ethel Guard Meyer. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Sam and Bessie Gabbard.
Josh attended grade school in Dillsboro, and high school in Milan. He worked as a machinist in Cincinnati for Gerte Machine Co. Josh enjoyed fishing, video games, collecting guns, and playing music.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, January 21, at 1:30 p.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Friends may meet his family from 11:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery, Dillsboro. Memorials may be left at the funeral home for the family. Shauna Lynne Hamilton
Shauna Lynne Hamilton, age 55, of Moores Hill, passed away Wednesday, January 13, 2010 at her home. She was born January 23, 1954 in Milan, the daughter of Lloyd Rullman and Dana Miller Rullman. She married Roy C. "Chuck" Hamilton II in 1976 and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1997.
Survivors include her mother, Dana Rullman, of Dillsboro; one son, Cody Charles Hamilton, at home; two daughters, Kami Hamilton, of Lawrenceburg, and Jessie Hamilton, at home; one grandson, Gage; and sister, Sheila Creek, of Moores Hill. She was preceded in death by her husband- Chuck, her father- Lloyd Rullman, and two brothers- Ed and Mark Rullman.
Mrs. Hamilton worked as a temporary at Seagrams until the end of September, when her illness forced her to retire. She was a long time member of the American Legion Post 292 Auxiliary.
Friends may meet her family Friday, January 15, from 5-8 p.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Funeral services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Farmers Retreat, with Pastor Richard Wilkie officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Dillsboro. Vincent Horton
Vincent Horton, 77, of Versailles passed away Monday, January 11, 2010 at the Ross Manor in Dillsboro. He was born near Versailles on December 22, 1932 the son of Clifford and Garnet Alley Horton.
Survivors include two sons Milton (Lucy) Horton of Nashville, Tennessee and Bret (Kletis) Horton of New Castle; five daughters Inga (Scott) Guenther of Texas, Greta (Bill) Goble of Versailles, Barbara (Preston) Barlow of Kentucky, Tanya (Theron) Smith of Sumter, South Carolina, and Beth (Steven) Williams of Nashville, Tennessee; several grandchildren; one sister Wilma Lou Clark of Clarksville; one brother Ray (Kay) Horton of Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Phyliss Hafft.
Mr. Horton was a 1951 graduate of Versailles High School. He was a former terminal manager for Silgas. He was a member of the Cedar Creek Community Church, the Versailles American Legion, and the Ripley County Voiture 40 & 8. Mr. Horton was a veteran of the US Army.
Services will be held on Friday, January 15 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home with Theron Smith officiating. Visitation will also be Friday from 11 a.m. until time of services. The Versailles American Legion will conduct military services Friday at the funeral home.

Eddie Wm. Kieffer
Eddie Wm. Kieffer, 67 of Osgood, passed away Sunday, January 10, 2010 at the Indiana Heart Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born June 16, 1942 in Osgood, the son of James Wm. and Ruby Murray Kieffer. He married Roselyn Miller and she preceded him in death in 1976.
Survivors include daughter, Melissa (Hughie) Reed of Greensburg; sisters, Janet (Dennis) Lippman of Madison, WI, and Lisa (Roger) Carman of North Vernon; two grandchildren; two nephews and two nieces. He was preceded in death by wife, Roselyn Miller Kieffer, his son, Kenny Kieffer and his parents James and Ruby Kieffer.
Mr. Kieffer had worked approximately 37 years at the Osgood REMC operating heavy equipment. He retired in the late 1970's.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 15 at 10 a.m. at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood with burial in the St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Osgood. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the St. John’s Church in care of the funeral home. Frank Allen McGee
Frank Allen McGee, 76, of Madison, passed away, Sunday, January 10, 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. at North Madison Baptist Church with burial in the Fairmount Cemetery, both in Madison. Visitation is being held today, Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre in Madison and Friday from 9 a.m. until time of services at the church. Dexter A. Day
Dexter A. Day, 59, of Versailles, passed away Tuesday, January 5, 2010 at his home. He was born at Rising Sun on July 17, 1950, the son of Harlan and Effie Jones Day. He was married to Claudette Hager on July 6, 1983 and she survives.
Other survivors include four sons, Mark (Angela Day of Lexington, KY, Stacy (Kristin) Day of Salvisa, KY, Nathan Day of Lexington, KY, and Jason Covert of Versailles; three daughters, Stephanie (Keith) Copeland of Milan, Sherry (Bo) Copley of Williamson, WV, and Donna Day of Cross Plains; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Clinton Day and Clayton Day, both of Versailles and Norman (Brenda) Day of Osgood; and one sister, Rebecca (Jerry) Hunteman of North Vernon. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two brothers, Denver and Wendell.
Mr. Day was retired from the military where he served 22 years with the army and marines and also with the Kentucky Army National Guard. He served during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal, and was also qualified as a sharpshooter.
Mr. Day was a 1968 graduate of South Ripley High School and was a member of the Versailles Church of Christ.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 8 at 1 p.m. at the Versailles Church of Christ with Dale Day and Randy Thieman officiating. Burial will be in the Shelby Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles and from 12 p.m. until time of services on Friday at the church. Memorials may be given to the donor’s choice.

Deloris Ison
Deloris Ison, 82, of Moores Hill, formerly of Aurora, passed away Sunday, January 3, 2010 in Moores Hill. She was born Saturday, April 30, 1927 in Aurora, the daughter of the late Harry Jackson and the late Barbara Mindell Jackson. She married William "Bill" Ison of Moores Hill and he survives.
Other survivors include son, Mark Ison of Moores Hill; daughter, Janice Allen of Milan; brother, Junior Jackson of Aurora; nine grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by son, Dany Wilson.
Mrs. Ison was a homemaker.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, Jan. 7, at Rullman Hunger Funeral Home in Aurora at 11 a.m. with burial following in the Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Aurora. Dorothy Dowdee, 89, of Aurora, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010. Tammy Billingsley
Tammy Billingsley, 40, of Sunman, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 in Sunman. She was born Thursday, February 20, 1969 in Dearborn County, the daughter of Barbara Billingsley Palmer.
Survivors include her parents, Barbara and Joe Palmer of Sunman; daughters, Cassandra and Alisha Billingsley, both of Sunman; brother, Charles (Christina) Billingsley of Osgood; nieces and nephew, Katie, Devin, Alexandria "Chicken" and Brittany Billingsley; grandmother, Evelyn Palmer of Sunman.
Ms. Billingsley worked as a dealer for Argosy Casino for 12 years.

Stanley E. Walston
Stanley E. Walston, 63, a lifelong Dillsboro area resident, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at Ripley Crossing in Milan. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on June 18, 1946, the son of Floyd Walston and Anna Redfern Walston.
Survivors include two brothers, Charles (Sue) Walston of Aurora and Lloyd Walston of Dillsboro; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Floyd Walston.
Mr. Walston served his country in the US Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict from 1964-1968. He was a carpenter by trade and a member of the Union Local 126. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 292 in Dillsboro.
Friends may meet with his family at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro on Saturday, January 9 from 10-11 a.m. with a memorial service following. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro is in charge of arrangements.

Edith Janet (Hilbert) Rayburn
Edith Janet (Hilbert) Rayburn, 94, of Center Square, passed away Monday, January 4, 2010 at her home. She was born July 21, 1915 in Jennings County, the daughter of Jacob Walter and Ethel Hilbert. She married Ollie Merrill Rayburn on August 2, 1936 in Ripley County and he preceded her in death on December 6, 1996.
Survivors include four sons, Merrill (Alma) Rayburn of Vevay, Ronald (Alice) Rayburn of Holton, Jerry (Cori) Rayburn of Fairfax Station, VA, James (Phyllis) Rayburn of Broken Arrow, OK; two daughters, Virginia (William) Roberts of Vevay, and Joanne (Gary) Muzzillo of Edgewood, KY; 20 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Bernice Ruggles, half brother- Robert Hilbert, and grandson- Douglas Rayburn.
Mrs. Rayburn was a homemaker and worked in home nursing for many years. She was a skilled seamstress, quilt maker, and accomplished musician. She was a member of the Union Flat Rock Baptist Church and Willing Workers Home EC Club and Missionary Group.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 9, at 11 a.m. at Union Flat Rock Baptist Church in Osgood with Bro. Kenny and Carolyn Miller and Rev. Gary Shepherd. Burial will be in the Flat Rock Cemetery in Osgood. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 8 at the Haskell & Morrison Funeral Home in Vevay. Carl William Frazier
Carl William Frazier, age 92, Brandenburg, Ky., (formerly of Milan), passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2009, at Baptist Hospital East surrounded by his loving family and the caring staff of 4 North at Baptist Hospital East.
Carl was born July 26, 1917, in Florence, In. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps as a marine engineer on PT boats and as a deep sea salvage diver in the Pacific theater during World War II. He was
an avid hunter, scuba diver and fisherman. His greatest love was his family and his church. He retired from the Army Corps of Engineers as the Lock Master at Canaveral Locks at Cape Canaveral, Florida after 33 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Blanche Frazier; a brother, Charles Frazier; two sisters, Margaret Holder and Catherine Wallick; two daughters, Patricia Kash Koester and Connie S. Ryan; two grandchildren, Carl Robert Frazier, Jr. and Pamela Koester.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Ruth Cardinal Frazier; two daughters, Carol (Bob) Bruns, Louisville, Ky.; Sheri (Kory) Swenson, Ekron, Ky.;, a son, Carl R. (Peggy) Frazier, Brandenburg, Ky.; two sisters, Juanita Sheldon and Mary Foutty, both of Rising Sun;, twenty grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Sunday, January 3 from the Chapel of the Hager Funeral Home, with Rev. David Huff, officiating.
