Marijuana grow operation found

A tip to police resulted in a marijuana growing effort being shut down.

According to information from the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, after Deputy Jason Dickerson received a tip about marijuana plants being grown at the home of Ernest H. Pyle, 45, of Milan, he obtained a search warrant.

After the warrant was served, Pyle was taken into custody and incarcerated at the Ripley County Jail on charges of Possession of Marijuana, Cultivating Marijuana, and Possession of Paraphernalia. More charges are pending.

Officers also found marijuana and items to grow the illegal substance in the home.

Assisting the sheriff’s office were officers from the Milan Police Department and Indiana State Police. Sheriff Tom Grills noted that public awareness and multi-police agency cooperation is the best way to fight the drug trade and use in this area.

If you know or suspect any illegal drug activity, police ask that you call your local law enforcement agency with the information.
