The Pines Restaurant in Madison was once again selected to be the site for the Annual ORVC Winter Sports Awards Banquet by Milan HS Athletic Director, John Prifogle. The seven member schools of the Ohio River Valley Conference alternate hosting ORVC Awards Programs on a yearly basis.
The Milan High School staff will act as host for the upcoming 2010 Spring Sports Awards Banquet, before passing the task on to the next school in line to act as host for the 2010-2011 season.
The seven high school teams partnering in the ORVC include: the Jac-Cen-Del Eagles, the South Ripley Raiders, the Switzerland County Pacers, the Rising Sun Shiners, the Shawe Memorial Hilltoppers, the Southwestern Hanover Rebels and this year's host, the Milan Indians.
Near the 6:30 p.m. scheduled time for the festive event to begin, Principal Richard Healy of Milan High School welcomed those in attendance and offered the blessing before the group departed to partake in the buffet meal, prior to the award presentations.
Following the meal, athletes, coaches and school sports staff along with principals, watched with pride as members of their sports programs were called to the front of the room to receive their earned winter sports awards.
By 8 p.m., the festivities had concluded and all were on the road headed homeward.
The All-ORVC Girls Basketball Team, as selected by a vote of the coaches, were each presented an individual medal and ribbon, as were the All-ORVC Boys Basketball Team.
