A Moores Hill woman will find out what her sentence will be regarding an accident she was involved in that claimed the life of a Sunman man nearly a year ago.

Sentencing is set for 1 p.m. today, April 1 for Melissa Dawn Weaver, 32, of Moores Hill, who pled guilty after she was involved in a fatal collision with motorcyclist Daniel L. Thielmann, Jr., 32, of Sunman. The hearing will be held in the Dearborn County Circuit Court courtroom and will be heard by Judge Sally Blankenship.

According to Ripley Publishing Co. files, Weaver was allegedly intoxicated at the time of the crash and fled the scene. In a strange twist of fate, Weaver was walking in the area of where Thielmann’s mother, Marilyn Thielmann, lives immediately following the crash, and was actually given a ride by the woman, who was unaware of her son’s death at the time.

Weaver admitted to a Dearborn County Deputy that she had been drinking at the time of the crash. She tested at a level of .15 after she was given a blood alcohol test. The legal limit to operate a vehicle is .08.
The crash occurred on May 27, 2009, on Station Hollow Road in Dearborn County.

Thielmann left behind a wife and four children, all at home.
