A public
hearing for the intent to apply for a federal grant for the
storm water project was held at the regular meeting of the Osgood
Town Council on Tuesday, April 20. Mary McCarty from the Southeastern
Indiana Regional Planning Commission explained that the town
will apply for $995,000 with a local match of $22,000.
There are six locations identified for repairs that will alleviate
flooding issues, prevent stagnant water and to prevent erosion.
A copy of the plan is available at the town hall. The motion
to approve the application and the commitment of $22,000 was
unanimously approved.
According to Steve Wilhoit, street department supervisor, the
Town of Holton did not sign to renew the contract for water.
This could result in the loss of funding for the water project.
