A public hearing for the intent to apply for a federal grant for the storm water project was held at the regular meeting of the Osgood Town Council on Tuesday, April 20. Mary McCarty from the Southeastern Indiana Regional Planning Commission explained that the town will apply for $995,000 with a local match of $22,000.

There are six locations identified for repairs that will alleviate flooding issues, prevent stagnant water and to prevent erosion. A copy of the plan is available at the town hall. The motion to approve the application and the commitment of $22,000 was unanimously approved.

According to Steve Wilhoit, street department supervisor, the Town of Holton did not sign to renew the contract for water. This could result in the loss of funding for the water project.

In other business:

• The request to advertise the sale of a lawn mower was approved.

• The board approved the request of the Lions Club to use the stoplight on May 8 and the Relay for Life on June 5 for fundraisers.

• The board unanimously adopted the EDIT plan for 2010, 2011, and 2012.

• The tax abatement for Hazen Paper was approved.

All board members were in attendance. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 18 beginning at 7 p.m. at the Osgood Town Hall.
