Hardebeck, Green Sign Company, presented an application from
the Versailles branch of the Friendship State Bank, for a variance
from the maximum sign size at the regular meeting of the Board
of Zoning Appeals on Tuesday, May 25. The current requirement
for signs is 35 square feet.
The requested variance is to increase the size to about 68 square
feet, which would increase the total size approximately two
feet more than the original. It was noted the sign will be similar
to the one at the Batesville branch.
Hardebeck noted that the sign would be more visible to motorists.
The motion to grant the variance was unanimous.
An application for a special exception to permit a billboard
on State Road 46 near Batesville was presented by Rick Sprague,
JR Promotions. According to Sprague, the billboard will be constructed
on property owned by Mark Roepke and approval from the state
has been received. The motion to grant the special exception
was approved.
Holton residents Matthew and Carrie McNew requested a variance
from the required sideline setback of 20 feet to four feet to
allow the construction of a private garage. According to the
McNews, there are plans to tear down the current garage to build
a two-car, pole barn style garage. The motion to grant the variance
was unanimously approved.
All members were in attendance. The next meeting will be held
on Tuesday, June 29 beginning at 7 p.m. at the courthouse annex.
