Pike Lumber granted variance request

The Ripley County Board of Zoning Appeals considered an application request from the required industrial sideline setback presented by Pike Lumber in Milan at the regular meeting on Tuesday, April 27.

The application was for a variance from the required setback of 100 feet to 50 feet to permit the construction of a commercial building. Members of the Milan Town Council and the Ripley County Commissioners were in support of this application. The motion to grant the variance was unanimously approved.

An application submitted by Tim Tyler requested a variance from the required width to depth ratio in order to permit a survey to divide property located on County Road 800W in Holton. The motion to grant the variance was unanimously approved.

In other business, the application for a special exception for a billboard submitted by Rick Sprague for JR Promotions will be heard at the May 25 meeting as per Sprague’s request.

All board members were in attendance. The next meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 25 beginning at 7 p.m. at the courthouse annex.
