Master Sergeant Stephen M. Benham
Master Sergeant Stephen M. Benham, 60, of Camden, Delaware and formerly of Milan, passed away at his home in Camden on Monday, May 24, 2010. He was born June 22, 1949 in Greensburg, the son of the late Robert and Joan (Smith) Benham. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Benham and she survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Teresa Johns of Milan and Marcia Wetzel of Moores Hill; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his son, Derek Benham on February 28, 2010.
Mr. Benham served in the US Air Force and started flying C141’s as a flight engineer out of Washington state. He transferred to Dover Air Force Base as a flight engineer/flight examiner in the 9th MAS. He then became a 436 AW Flight Examiner and was instrumental in starting the airdrop and special operation program for the C-5. He retired from the Air Force and became an instructor for Flight Safety, Inc. for the C-5. He left Flight Safety to fly 747’s worldwide out of JFK, New York.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 29, at 1 p.m. at Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home in Milan with Rev. Tom Holt officiating. Burial will follow in the New Craven Cemetery at Milan. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be given to the Delaware Hospice in care of the funeral home. Laws-Carr-Moore Funeral Home, Milan, is in charge of arrangements.

Daniel F. German
Daniel F. German, 60, of Friendship, passed away on Thursday, May 20, 2010 at his home. He was a retired US Postal Service Letter Carrier and a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam Era.
He was the husband of Bonnie Culley German, the father of Jeffrey German, son of Frank and Patricia German, brother of Patricia Breedlove, and son-in-law of Shirley Culley. He is also survived by a niece and a nephew.
Funeral services were held Monday, May 24 at the Dennis George Funeral Home in Cleves, Ohio. Burial with military honors was in Maple Grove Cemetery, also in Cleves, Ohio.

Philip Spurlock
Philip Spurlock, 76, of Marion, passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at Marion General Hospital. He was born on February 16, 1934 in Clay County, Kentucky. He married Gertrude Chandler and she preceded him in death on December 23, 1990.
Survivors include one son, Steven Spurlock of Tulsa, OK; three sisters, Ruby Mathis of Cincinnati, OH, Bernice Dunbar of Osgood, and Alpha Fabri of Highwood, IL. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Taylor and Fred Spurlock.
Mr. Spurlock worked for many years at General Tire of Marion.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 28 at 12 noon at Neal’s Funeral Home in Osgood with visitation from 10 a.m. to the time of services. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the American Lung Association.

Diane Platt Bockhorst

Diane Platt Bockhorst, 69, of Dayton, Ohio, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010. She was the wife of Dale Bockhorst.
Survivors include children, Matt and Dan (Tracy); grandchildren, Alex, Sarah, Mitch and Thomas; sister, Dave (Jeanne) Platt; niece, Beth (David) Honnert; nephews, Chad (Alberta) Platt and Brian (Laura) Platt.
Diane was a middle school special education teacher.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 29, from 2-4 p.m. at Carnegie Hall at 14687 Main Street, Moores Hill, and on Sunday, May 30, from 2-3 p.m. at the Miami Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship in Centerville, Ohio. Per her wishes, she will be cremated. Memorials may be given to Carnegie Hall.

Michael Sproessig
Michael Ray Sproessig, 38, of Versailles passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 at the Decatur Memorial Hospital in Greensburg. He was born at Batesville on February 4, 1972 the son of Richard and Patricia McConnell Sproessig. He was married to Eryn Milligan on March 22, 2008 and she survives.
Other survivors include his daughter Ashtyn Sproessig and his son Hunter Jerald Brandon Sproessig; parents Richard and Patricia Sproessig of Versailles; his father and mother-in-law Ron and Lisa Milligan of Westport; his maternal grandmother Emma McConnell of Pierceville; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Chester and Flora Sproessig and his maternal grandfather Hugh McConnell.
Mr. Sproessig was a 1990 graduate of South Ripley High School. He was a member of Carpenters Local 1142 in Greensburg and had completed the four year carpenter’s apprentice course at Washington. He was a member of the Holton United Methodist Church where he served as a trustee.
Funeral services are being held today, Thursday, at 11am at the Holton United Methodist Church with Rev. Dennis Hadley officiating. Burial will be in the Holton Cemetery. Memorials may be given to the Holton United Methodist Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Reva Bear
Reva Bear, 81, of Lawton, OK, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010 in Lawton. She was born July 19, 1928, in Knox County, Gray, KY, the daughter of James P. and Amanda D. (Hutton) Martin. She married Kenneth I. Bear of Milan at Columbus, GA, on February 8, 1960 and he survives.
Other survivors include adopted sons, James L. Bear and Kyle L. Bear at home; sons Dana R. (Loretta) Chatham of Milan, Dennis L. (Ruby) Chatham of San Bernardino, CA; daughter, Patricia D. Reeves of Olney, TX; sister-in-law, Maria Martin of Versailles; 18 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and nine great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, two daughters Delores J. Horton and Dorothy M. Smith, four brothers Okel Bowling, Claude Campbell, Rondell Martin and Raymond Martin, and two sisters- Nadine Saylor and Geraldine Warwick.
Mrs. Bear was a member of the LFA, former member of Rogers Lane Church of God, Vine Grove, Kentucky Church of God, Cameron Church of God, and West Side Church of God.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, May 19, at the Becker Funeral Home Memorial Chapel with Rev. Don Barnes, Senior Pastor and Gary Pratt, Associate Pastor of the First Assembly of God officiating. Madge E. Jackson
Madge E. Jackson, 95, a resident of Greenfield, formerly of Wolcott, passed away Monday, May 17, 2010 at Regency Place Healthcare in Greenfield. She was born March 6, 1915 in Ripley County, the daughter of the late David Brandenberg and Lou Anna (Cady) Ensminger. She married Hugh A. Jackson and he preceded her in death in 1997.
Survivors include sons, Maynard A. (Maureen) Jackson, Miller E. (Gracie) Jackson; daughter, Norma C. (Robert) Kahler; grandchildren, Paul Jackson, Cheryl Lenser, Michelle Carter, Cassandra Kyc, Ashley Jackson, John Kahler; and five great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Roger H. Jackson; brothers, Miller and Ray Ensminger; sisters, Susan Stoops, Esta Edens, Alma Fisher and Ruth Southworth; and great-grandson, Filip.
Mrs. Jackson was a graduate of Holton High School and a 19 year librarian for the Wolcott Public Library. She was a member of the Wolcott Baptist Church where she was the organist for 19 years, former choir director and Sunday school teacher.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 21, at the Wolcott Baptist Church, in Wolcott, with Pastor Larry Aaron and Rev. Jan Hobbs officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Lake Cemetery, Wolcott. Visitation will be Thursday, from 4-8 p.m. at the Stillinger Family Funeral Home, Pasco Chapel, Greenfield and also one hour prior to the service at the church. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278. Stillinger Family Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of arrangements.

Douglas L. Russell
James O. Lanham, age 77 of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky.
Born September 14, 1932 in Canaan, Indiana, he was the son of James and Ella Mae (Wilson) Lanham, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret G. (Barton) Lanham whom he married on May 26, 1951 and who passed away on July 24, 2008; three sisters, Opal Hines, Elsie Sampson and Edith Lemen and one infant brother, Thurman Dale Lanham.
Mr. Lanham was a retired farmer. He was a member of the Jefferson County 4-H Fair Board and was a 4-H leader. He was also a member of the ASC Board and was a recipient of the Future Farmer Award. As a kid he attended Salem Christian Church and was a graduate of Central High School class of 1951.
SURVIVORS
Survivors include one daughter, Pam Lanham of Madison; two sisters, Marie Black and her husband, Ray, Sr. of Madison and Bessie Schutte of Milan, IN and several nieces and nephews.
SERVICES
Private memorial services will be held at a later date.

Beatrice Littell
Beatrice Littell, 93, of Versailles, formerly of Lawrenceburg, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Columbus Regional Hospital. She was born near Versailles on December 24, 1916 the daughter of Jesse and Florence Kuhn DeBurger. She was married to Donald Littell in 1949 and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include one daughter Lois (Ronald) Hopton of Texas; five grandchildren; four step grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and three step great grandchildren; her sister, Pauline Turner and her brother, Paul DeBurger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Louis Rountree, granddaughter Barbara Jo Turner, grandson James Turner, Jr., stepchildren, Shirley Allen and Jack Littell, nephew Wayne King and a dear friend Elmer Patton.
Mrs. Littell was a member of the Shelby Christian Church.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 15 at 2 p.m. at the Shelby Cemetery near Versailles with Randy Thieman of the Shelby Christian Church officiating.
Memorials may be given to the Shelby Christian Church in care of the Stratton-Karsteter Funeral Home in Versailles.

Ronnie C. Merica, 62, of Batesville, died Monday, May 10, 2010 at his home. Funeral services will be held today, Thursday, May 13 at 11:00 a.m. at Meyers Funeral Home, Batesville. Burial will be in the Craven Cemetery in Milan. Memorials may be given to the family.

Lawrence E. Kinnett
Lawrence E. Kinnett, 78, of Aurora, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at his home. He was born February 9, 1932 in Aurora, the son of Chester Kinnett and Lottie Virginia Slayback Kinnett. He married Doris Houze on September 5, 1954.
Survivors include his wife, Doris Kinnett, who has been a dedicated employee of Filter-DeVries Funeral Home for several years; one brother, Albert "Bud" Kinnett of Aurora; one aunt, Lorena McCool; sister-in-law, Lois Kinnett; two brothers-in-law, Gaylord (Carol) Houze and Noel (Eileen) Houze, all of Aurora and many nieces and nephews. His parents and one brother, Chester Kinnett, Jr., and one sister, Deanna Miller, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 15 at 11 a.m. at Filter-DeVries Funeral Home in Dillsboro. Internment will be in Mt. Sinai Cemetery in Aurora. Visitation at the funeral home will be Friday from 5-8 p.m.
Memorials may be given in his memory to the Aurora or Dillsboro Emergency Units or to the Mt. Sinai Cemetery.
